Lightbulb Desk Detrius PIF

Everytime I clean up my desk,
I drop all the *extras* I find into a big, 8.5x11 envelope. *Extras* can mean snippings from art projects completed, clippings saved but not used, packaging I thought would be fun to alter, objects, findings, notes, stationary, stickers, stamp impressions and so on.

You know what Desk Detrius is:
all the stuff you've hoarded and meant to use, but never did! I imagine that all of us could use a cleaner desk, and so I thought it would be fun to make a PIF out of it (my desk is usually 2 lbs lighter afterwards! LOL). Besides, its easier to part with our treasure/trash if we know it might get a second life!!

For the record:
  • This thread was began because I had a bunch of stuff that someone else might find useful, but I didn't have the time/patience to try to parcel it out on one of the other PIF threads. I wanted to get it ALL off my desk and out of my space right away. Feel the same? Grab a big envelope or a box and start cleaning!
  • You do not have to have a desk to participate. Got an art table, filing cabinet, or storage area that is overflowing with detrius? Get cleaning and turn that arty trash into someone else's treasure!
  • Don't want anything in return? No problem. Simply specify that in your post.
  • The idea here is to get rid EN MASSE that bunch of stuff which is in your way, that you aren't going to use, or that you can't stand to just throw away.
  • The motto of this thread is "one artist's trash is another artist's treasure".
How to?
  1. Well, clean your desk.
  2. Take all that Desk Detrius and pack it up.
  3. Claim the last Desk Detrius package and post yours (specify the size of your package or packages!).
  4. Work out the mailing addresses by PM.
  5. Enjoy all the new Desk Detrius that you get in the mail!!

ThInK BiG!! UnLoAd YoUr ClUtTeR!!

Here, I'll Start:

PACKAGE:
I have a 10.5" x 15" bubble envelope that is jammed with over 1.5 lbs of Desk Detrius!!

DETRIUS:

papers, ribbons, atc blanks, lots of word-centric clippings/findings, this is more impressive than it sounds. LOTS of stuff, so much so that I can't really tell what else is in here!!

Any takers?

(be sure to post your Desk Detrius to PIF!)

Wow, I'm surprised no one has posted between my reading this and getting around to cleaning up my desk. (Who am I kidding - it doesn't look any different; but still, I've filled an envelope.)

Package:
11" x 9" (wow, I actually found a ruler for this one. how exciting.)

Detrius:
lots of random pictures and text clippings, lots of stickers, ribbons, a couple of kinder surprise type toys, free postcards, a proof copy of my zine and that may or may not be it.

I stand corrected. Darn my slow posting.

Red face desk pif

Wow, am I ever ready for this one.

Necrolatrism, I'm game!

For my Piffing full envie, I have lots of paper scraps, some cool tree punchies... I just did a leaf deco page... some tags, emb. thread, some little rolling beads and a few buttons(I'll put them into a baggie , beads and buttons I have strung together, some neat green mesh and some silver and red too, a few decos ready for the next signer.... and some handmade cardboard pieces I have covered to use in decos and other projects, little envies, and more...it's a messy desk

Anyone?

Cool Pif idea btw, I've been talking about cleaning.

This is so tempting! Before I get packing I have a question. Can this desk be our regular desk as well as our art desk? I think I have some nifty things that I need to clean out of my "junk-that-I-can't-throw-out" drawer that can be used Thanks.

Whoa!! Cool thread! I'll take yours, beachstudio, while dlm is still cleaning! Who wants mine?

Here's a sampling: lots of magazine pages, page-a-day-pages, fibers...nifty yarns, emb. floss and ribbons...odds and ends of painted papers, fabric scraps...not sure yet what size, but probably 9"x 12"...depends a little on where it's headed!

Can I play too? I'm in Canada, but have a US addy that stuff gets sent to. I've got some stuff on route there right now, it's in MI. I have to get an envie and fill it though, I've got lots of cool stuff I can put in there. Let me know.

Package size: I have to get an envie today, I'm all out of humungous ones!! It's around a pound or so.

Detrius: A few indie magazines from around my area(the newsprint kind), lots of scraps of paper that I "was gonna use" but haven't got around to it, joss papers, ribbons, stamped images, bookmark blanks, atc blanks, a small piece of driftwood, a few used stamps, blank postcards and greeting cards, cool tags from clothing (great for altering, again I was gonna use them!), some small beads(plastic ones), all kinds of great things. I was having a blast cleaning off both desks in the office -one is my art table, the other is our computer desk. Any takers for my package???????
Groove on!!!
