Hi Cari,

A RAoK is a Random Act of Kindness - in Nervousness's case, it's sending out a special letter to another user at random, without them knowing.

I think there are many RAoK threads out there - check them out, and send someone some surat (mail in Malay - I was looking for alliteration XD)

Such a surprise in the mail today! An Altered Postcard from Penny! :) Thank you so much! (Can't seem to stop the exclamation points :D ) Somewhat the worse on the address side from going through the cancelling machine, but they still delivered it. Wonder why they didn't hand cancel it? So cool.....orange and black (for Halloween?) But I don't understand German, so some of the references are lost on me, though visually they're effective. Maybe that's the point. Someone in Kokomo, IN (Somewhere FarFarAway according to the postage stamp...which, btw was not on the stamped side of the card :wacko: ) sent me a Kerfuffle. It's (can't tell if it's male or female) ready for lunch, which is apparently his stomach....it has a waffle belly and it's holding a spoon. It has beady eyes (sort of like a lemur :o ), and gnashing teeth. Very scary and quite appropriate for this time of year. I'm glad it came with some other Hallowe'en art, otherwise I might have been scarred for life (afraid to ever face another waffle) :o . Thank you, whoever you are!! :hug:

I got a great RAOK from Nyphette! When the heck did you have time to do this Robyn??!! It is a box with pictures of clocks decoupaged on it, a clock button on the top, and beads glued inside the box top. It is to remind me to take some time for myself.

I was just BEAT almost to death and when i saw that I just got so,:blush: well you know, all tickley feeling and i had this great big smile on my face and my family all just stared at me as if i were a creature form out side space!! (family joke, my daughter used to say that instead of outer space and we all say it just for laughs now!)

funny thing... shortly after sending my first RAOK out, I received my very first RAOK from Aztek721! A nice blank journal for me to fill up with all my creativeness! yay! what a nice surprise!

I don't know whether I enjoy sending or receiving better... but life is sure more fun with RAOKs !!

I recieved this about a week ago but had forgotten where I'd left the envie that had the name of the person that sent it to me and as usual, i found it when I wasn't looking for it! LOL! it was an envie with quite alot of atc's in it and they were from Karen Gorrell, I have no idea where she got my name and addy from but the ATC's were such a kewl thing to receive from her and I'm so glad to say that I have had them out and showing them all to my friends and I even sent two to a friend of mine who is interested in making them and had asked me how exactly they are supposed to be made. Instead of explaining them to her, i just sent her one that I had made, and two from the ones that I recieved in the mail from Karen. That way she knows that there are all osrts of ways to making them and she'll know what I meant when I told her that there is no steadfast rule to making them and how or what to use when making them.

THANKS KAREN!!! I really do like them and sure am glad that I got them!!

That's Aztek721. And yes she makes some of the coolest atcs around. I have read more than one discussion about her style. I don't know that many artists whose style is so recognizable. (Aztek, if you read this, stop blushing dear)
I traded atcs with her immediately when I first started trading mailart 2-3 years ago (chartreuse moon). To me her work evokes a gorgeous, dark, gothy feel.
I think it is nice that you showed her atcs as an example for your friend. That is good inspiration. :)
