Family relationships suck sometimes. When a family member seriously pisses you off you can't just wash your hands of them and be done with it.

Gwensdad tried to put a new mechanism in the toilet and ended up breaking the tank. He got a new one but it doesn't fit on the toilet exactly and wobbles a little.

Gwen has to go to the hospital tomorrow for an endoscope. It's not a horrible procedure but it still makes me nervous. She can't eat all morning so we are keeping her up late tonight in hopes that she will sleep really late.

Lorrell

Nyphette, I hate car thieves, hijackers, etc. Twice I had my car stolen, once they came in my house at night and toke the keys right out of the pocket of my jeans that were next to my bed. They found my car parked and out of gas about six weeks later, 2 miles away from my house.

The second time it happened I was about to get in it and this guy snatched the keys right out of my hand, pushed me to the ground and jumped in, started the car up and took off in it. The cops spotted the carfloating in the lake and called my mother who assumed I was dead...My purse was locked in the trunk of the car unknown to the thief and when I went to retieve it from the impound they wanted to charge me (more than the car was worth) for getting it out of the lake and I had to get a note from a detective before they would let me get my purse out of the trunk.

Did you leave the keys in it....or what?

bluecrayon
11-07-2004, 07:46 PM
I locked the keys in my car the other day at the cooperative grocery store I go to.

I told the guy at the desk and he came out with a bunch of tools and tried to open the door.

A guy who had been watching this for a while came over, took a tool out of the bag and popped the lock on the driver's side door in less than a minute...

and I, myself, have pried off the club when I lost the key and I did it in under 20 minutes.

so if someone wants to take something from you, it's easy.

people being obscene and asking for Things to make it better is also mucho sucky.

saying a long thing to one person and having them contact me and say a bunch more through AIM, and me get angry and rant at them, and then have the *entire* interaction reported to people WHO HAVE NOTHING TO WITH IT is extremely angsty. fuck her.

Snow! ack!

Lilac, here's a simple yummy recipe I found:

Asparagus-Cashew Pilaf

You'll need:
a bunch of asparagus
about 1/2 cup cashews
2 cups vegetable broth (I use Knorr's vegetable boullion plus 2 cups of water)
about 1/4 chopped onion
1 clove garlic, chopped
about 2 oz. spaghetti or vermicelli, uncooked, broken into 1-inch pieces
margerine--about 2 tablespoons
olive oil or other oil--about 1 tablespoon
1 cup white or brown rice (brown makes a chewier pilaf but takes longer)

Put the asparagus in a bowl with enough water to barely cover. Cook in the microwave for about 3-4 minutes. (You could also boil it for about that amount of time.) Drain, then chop into 2-inch pieces.

In a skillet, melt the butter with the oil. Put in the chopped onion and garlic. Add the spaghetti and rice. Saute until pasta is lightly browned.

Add vegetable broth, bring to boil, then turn down heat and simmer till rice is cooked--about 20 minutes for white rice, longer (1/2 hour or more) for brown. During the last 10 minutes of cooking, add the asparagus and cashews. Season to taste. (Note: you don't need much salt.)

I serve it with whole wheat pita and an orange veggie or some canned peaches. It's YUMMY! :)

my recipe for pesto:
--1 cup tightly packed fresh basil leaves
--1 lg. clove garlic
--1 heaping teaspoon freshly grated Parmesan
--1 tablespoon freshly grated Romano
--1 teaspoon pine nuts (or sometimes I use walnuts)
--2/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil (more or less, depending on how thick you want it)
--salt and lots of black pepper

Put everything, except the oil, in a food processor (or blender) and blend into a paste. Add the oil gradually, mixing constantly until sauce has reached your desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper.

easy!!!!

who are the arty smart guys opting for if not us?324229

They are opting for each other! This is why homosexuality can be a problem: it takes too many awesome men off the market for us girls!

Gwen did great going in but had a rough re-entry. Her throat hurts and she cried a lot until we got home and gave her something for it. She promptly passed out and is still sleeping.

The good news is that her teeth are looking good and there is no sign of damage to her esophagus, stomach or small intestine and they don't think she has reflux. They will wait for biopsy results to determine what to do. I am optimistic that surgery will not be called for.

There's a metro station in Montreal styled like one of the Art Deco metro stations of Paris. B)

I usually look out the window to combat motion sickness. But today it was made of tiredness and an ambient temperature that was too high...

Your alternate personality is the less sanguine one, I guess.

The public library has a little bookshelf in each branch, where they sell books for 25 cents.

hello sarahkate!!!! i see you there!!!

i am trying to find out on the internet why harrison's tacrolimus says that it has to be refrigerated!!! this is the first rx of it we've had fille dsince we came home and none of the other bottles had to be kept in the fridge..... you'd think that it would be a consistent thing though, it's the same med... i just wonder if they compound it differently and whatever they use has to be kept cold??? weird.. and i cant' find anything..... :(

i have a cup of tea getting cold in the living room... i hope it's up where harrison can't spill it and julian cant' drink it..... :o that's all i need a sticky toddler covered with tea or a hyped up preschooler filled with caffeine!!!!!!!!

~ Hello Robyn & Julian & Harrison & the little womb bean! :D

~ I am feeling guilty because I have been getting A+/100s on a lot of my school work despite the fact that I usually do everything last minute. Some of my teachers have even left me comments like "I see you have put a lot of time and effort into this" when really I haven't but I still get a good grade anyway.

yeah, i'm just the tester for everything...first i had the bad reaction to penecillin (hives upon hives), so my sister's got tested...just Leeann is allergic (she's also allergic to everything else :P)

next, I had eye surgery when i was three, and died, b/c of the anaesthetic....so they tested my sisters...again, just Leeann has pseudo-cholinesterase deficiency, too. see a pattern here?

If any of these are in subjects you really like, you could tell the instructors. They might give you actual challenges and get you ahead.

Or - I've never done this, but in some classes it might be called for - if it's a really boring course that you're practically able to sleep through and still get A+s, ask if you can just take the final in a week or so, and stop wasting your time in class.

I'm kind of amazed Robyn stopped to tell us about Harrison on the way to the ER, but it is somehow better to be able to worry in advance or at the same time, rather than just in retrospect. I really hope he's okay.

~ I'm hungry. One of my coworker's lunch smells really good... maybe it's beef stew.. though... I don't even like beef stew so I don't know why I like the smell of it. Vegetable stew would be good right now though.

~ I wish I wasn't at work, because I'm feeling in the mood to make some postcards.

~ I hate situations when you have a secret that you don't want to tell because you would hurt someone very badly and would have to admit to being the evil person you really are, but then again if you do tell, the weight of that secret would be lifted off of your shoulders and maybe life would eventually move in a different direction, a better direction after the initial horror and pain and fighting and awfulness.

~ sigh.

More about the new Slovene avant-garde can be found here. (http://www.nwfilmforum.org/slovenia/film.htm)

I'm not going because I live in Toronto.

But the Slavic Librarian at the UW sent me the info because...he's mean. And I never finished his bibliography assignment for SLA 505: How to be a good Slavist.

I'm not.

Nor am I a Slav.

I'll have to console myself with "new" Danish film.

Dogme is so over-rated.

I'm wondering about Harrison and Robyn too

Usually, it is better to just tell the secret...you'll probably end up doing it anyways, and the longer you keep it, the more it'll hurt when you tell

I'm leaving soon to go to class :(

when I'm gone for a while from here, is anyone gonna say "I wonder where Blue is?" and "I demand blueness?"326540
Oh Blue, all kinds of people ask about you when you're gone! :D

I hope that people demand helquinity in my absence... I won't respond to requests for helquinness. <_<

Well, maybe from anagramatic Velma. I agree -- velmation could make any venture hootworthy.

~ That's very good advice. I just wish I was level headed and courageous enough to take that advice! Someday....maybe.

~ Sometimes life is just one big poopsicle.

~ I'm looking at recipes online and my mouth is literally watering!!! I think I want to make some Harvest Pumpkin Drop Cookies (http://www.recipe-source.com/baked-goods/desserts/cookies/27/rec2751.html) this weekend, sans pecans.

Yummy- I love cake and want to work at Cakemasters too.

I am making a cake tomorrow to send to school for Gwen's birthday (which is officially on Saturday).

She will be 8! I can't believe she is that old, but then again it feels like she has been around for much much longer than that.
