I need a cup of tea, but all my roommate's big mugs are gone. I'll have to clean one of mine.
I was planning on steak, stirfried onion and mushrooms, and carrots, but now I don't know.
I might just go for takeout.

100 hours (it's usually more than that, but for the sake of argument...)* 60 minutes... 6000 dollars a month? I could live real good on that kind of money. Okay, so not nearly all of it is "wasted", in my eyes...
Still need a cup of tea. I'm turning grumpy.

I'm online at work because I've just completed the additions to the wallpiece page (http://www.davidmbowman.com/dmb/wallpieces/singlepage/wp0332.htm) discussing/showing off the use of our wallpiece in the movie The Punisher.

the day hammerquill mentioned renting the punisher to see his wall piece i was going to tell chris to pick it up- he calls me before he leaves work every few days to see if i want him to rent a movie... he didn't call that day... :(
but he brought home 3 movies to watch anyhow... one of which he said he rented for him and julian to watch... (like i let julian watch that!!!) it was the punisher.... :P
i told him 'hey, i was going to tell you to rent that!" and he said 'i didn't think YOU would want to watch it...." <_< and i said 'well, i dont' particularily... but i wanna see reed's piece in it!!!!!' :D
i picked it out too... aren't i clever???

also saw harrison's dietician today to see if we qualify for the co-pay for his formula....
nope
because he isn't 80%+ on the formula, we dont' qualify... which means for ONE CAN a day for a month we have to pay $175 or so....
which is NOT happeneing.... i spend about $200 of our budget on groceries for 3 of us a MONTH.... so i guess he is 100% OFF the night feeds... he'll get used to being without food at night eventually... until then, i'll be up with him fussing from about 1 am on.... :'( it better pass within a week!!! maybe he'll 'snack' late night if he's that hungry... i can always hope....
<sigh> i still shake my head at the price of that crap.... not like it's real FOOD either, it's elemental formula.... which is why it costs, i know, but... i'd rather have him on REAL food anyhow!!!

Eve, since you are Catholic won't you have to spend time in purgatory? If you're going to hell do you go straight there? Or can you go to purgatory first and then to hell if you screw up?
Well, my understanding of it is you've been real bad, you go straight to hell. Purgatory is for ordinary people who atone for their more-or-less ordinary sins before they can go to heaven.
But I don't think I've ever believed in hell, let alone that purgatory silliness. Guess that makes me a heretic on top of being agnostic. ;)

When I was a kid, my mother bought me this B&W illustrated book on the ten commandments and the seven major sins. I found it ridiculous in the extreme, especially the description of hell. For that matter, the classic description of heaven never suited me either...
That was more than three facts, but I felt that this post should not be taken up entirely by my views on religion, the RC denomination in particular.
I hate it when I fall asleep during the afternoon - I can't get to sleep at night afterwards.

2. SYDNEY (Reuters) - A vibrating sex toy in a rubbish bin sparked a security scare and shut a regional Australian airport for almost an hour, officials said on Monday.
3. BUCHAREST (Reuters) - A elderly Romanian man mistook his penis for a chicken's neck, cut it off and his dog rushed up and ate it, the state Rompres news agency said Monday.
It said 67 year-old Constantin Mocanu, from a village near the southeastern town of Galati, rushed out into his yard in his underwear to kill a noisy chicken keeping him awake at night.
"I confused it with the chicken's neck," Mocanu, who was admitted to the emergency hospital in Galati, was quoted as saying. "I cut it ... and the dog rushed and ate it."
Doctors said the man, who was brought in by an ambulance bleeding heavily, was now out of danger.

I had Mono the summer before my junior year, and was in bed 3 weeks.
Towards the end of the second week I was so sick they were gonna put me in the hospital, they gave me 2 Gamma-Globulin shots first and I got better pretty quickly.
The Gamma-Globulin shot is this thick syrupy stuff that takes forever to inject and is super painful, but in hindsight it was worth it.
Bonus fact 1: I got it from my best friend who had been a ball of strep-throat for the few weeks before I got sick. We shared a coke.
Bonus fact 2: my boyfriend at the time, who was insanely jealous and thought I had kissed someone else thus got Mono, cheated on me while I was on my death bed. I didn't find out for YEARS later, long after we had broken up (because he was embarrassed to be seen with me at school).

Weirdly slow day, today. I went out of the apartment twice. Go me.
Five weeks, six days. My family are probably going to call me crazy for going on a trip only a month after I get to Montréal, with my stuff probably not even arrived yet. It's not that I don't care, it's just that not going wasn't an option...
My roommate didn't show up yesterday to pick up the rest of his stuff. This annoys me a lot, especially since I was sort of counting on having the space to stage my own move... and he didn't even call to warn me. Gr.

"&c." is the right way of spelling "etc." The ampersand, in all its forms, is based on the letters "et" - the Latin (and, of course, French) word for "and" - and the first word of "et cetera."
Correct classical typography dictates that "&" may be used for any instance of "and," at the discretion of the typesetter, for better text fit and spacing and flow of the typographic line.
I wish we had typographically available to us more of the older abbreviation characters invented by medieval scribes with their tired fingers...

I've done most of the dishes. Now all that's left are storage containers and pots. Sigh. My mother taught me to save those for last, to have the cleanest dishwater for things like glasses and plates, but it sure leaves the ickiest for last, too...
Now that I think of it, it need no longer apply, since I don't fill the sink with water anymore - I just use the sudsy sponge, then rinse under running water, which I turn on and off.
After this no doubt fascinating discussion of the impact of paying for one's water and having a very limited supply of hot water vs. upbringing on the dishwashing habits of the 20-something woman in 21st century North America and Europe, take a deep breath, I will say that I am fascinated by the art vs. craft discussion thread, which has for once kept a high level of argumentation.

I just bought a digital scale on ebay. Now that I will not have to make a trip to the post office to weigh stuff before listing it, I will not be so lazy about selling on ebay.
I had to do something because the junk room is piling up again and my bank account is emptying out.
I'm starting an lmao on Thursday.
I hope Thunderstorm_19 has a great birthday... at least MUCH better than mine this year.
Poor Gene! It will probably be quite a while before you can enjoy your birthday again. :( Maybe move it to another day for a few years.

I am in need of a decision re: which art supplies, and how much of them, I am packing in my luggage. The rest will go be on a boat for an undetermined length of time, so this is kind of crucial. I don't want to have to re-equip myself while I wait...

I'm very annoyed with The Brat (a.k.a. my currently-moving roommate). Arrived at 10pm. Left at 1am. Packed most of what was left of his stuff, but left the boxes - and the one piece of furniture he's taking with him. He'll be back for them tomorrow 'Not too late, I think', says he. gr.
My eyes and face are prickling from all the dust. Ick.
Bonus: I am the queen of typos - actual spelling mistakes, really - tonight.

The air-raid siren was tested a few minutes ago. That's my cue to check my clocks... 12 sharp, every first Wednesday of the month.

i've been sick too, gwensmom... :( nauseated and soooo tired, headachey and dizzy... and i think i have some sinus thing going on....
chris actually took yesterday morning off work to stay home with me to help... and he was <gasp!> actally a HELP!!! then i called my ssiter to see if she could come help me when she got off work- i just couldn't even think about being on my feet for hours doing supper and feeds and bed-ready stuff.... i got off the couch about four times yesterday- to pee and get tylenol and the occasional glass of gingerale... i was completely useless!!!! :'(
at least my family loves me enough to help.... i can't even begin to fathom what would have happened if i had been responsible all day for those kids!!!
i had to clean up a mess in the bedroom on the rug- harrison's pump set came apart while he was getting his 3 o'clock feed....... i was down on the floor for about 2minutes trying to clean (homemade, with green beans in it... ) formula off the rug and i realized if i was down there any longer, i'd still be there when chris got home..... of course it had to happen while i was sick....

on a lighter note- harrison ate an entire 'fruit-to-go' yesterday in a sitting, and was nibbling on bread and buns all day!!! he has also been taking a lot more water by mouth since i started giving it to him in a bottle instead of a sippy cup- which he thinks is a water fight toy.... :P
today we try soy milk in the bottle.... it would be nice if i could get him taking enough food by mouth that he didn't have to be tube fed, at least PART of the day!!!
i estimate he took about 100 calories by mouth yesterday!!!! :yay:

Great news, kamoke, congratulations! :)
If you ever come to Paris, kamoke, you have to do this: take the métro on line 12 to Marcadet-Poissonniers station. Once outside, walk East on rue Ordener, on the North sidewalk. There's a long wall of spray-paint art and tags... then you come to the Gare du Nord train tracks, which you then cross into my neighbourhood, and looking down you can see more of these painted walls... Wander around the neighbourhood, too, there are some surprising murals to be found. :)

We are having some friends over tonight for "rehearsal" they are in a little band with my hubby.
They got rid of their mircowave because it supposedly does bad things to your food, even though I don't use it all the time, I can't live without my mircowave.

I am going to try going to work for a bit tommorow...maybe 4-5 hours.

Something weird has been going on today. It's like I have something wrong with me. Everywhere I've gone, people have been staring, openly staring, as if I were walking around naked or had something stuck in my teeth. And smiling, little amused, secret smiles. Or maybe I'm just being paranoid. I dunno.
My son and I had dinner at Subway, and the guy behind the counter was so busy staring at me that he screwed up the order and then gave me change for a twenty when I had paid him with a ten. Of course, I pointed out his error and gave back the money.
I went to the grocery store and when I got home, there was two pounds of deli turkey breast that I didnt buy in one of my bags . It must have been put there from the previous shopper's order. That I'm keeping.

Sometimes being a single parent sucks ass. Like when everything is going wrong and there's a million things to do and nobody to help.
At times like these, I almost feel as if I'm having a panic attack...or what I think a panic attack would feel like. I don't know that I've ever really had one. I just get real nrevous and shaky....my hearts beats uncontrollably and I have a hard time breathing. That pretty much sounds like a panic attack, huh?
My son can be such a handful at times. And that's putting it lightly.

his tacro levels have been really up and down and even with just a .25 mg increase/decrease, they are jumping 7 points sometimes.... he's been fighting this stupid rejection since mid august.... and it seems to be getting worse again...
yes, i'll shut up now...

Oh Nymphette, Oh Gwensmom! I feel so riduclous for my previous whinings!
I wish I could be there to help the both of you.
And, ummm...uh...I'm just a little bit um...youn know, chillin' man. Kid is in bed...stash was the first thing I went for. It's been a nice, but stressful day with my sister and her kids. My nephew got butted in the face by Gruff and had an uncontrollable nosebleed. The other nephew stepped in dog shit and tracked it all through the house. My poor sister was frazzled...so was I. So now I'm just reeeeeelaxing. :D

If you can't see someone's new avatar, try this (I'm assuming you have a PC): right-click on the avatar itself, and select "view image" from the drop-down menu. This works in Netscape; I think it works in IE, too, but who cares? Get Netscape... Where was I? When you're looking at just the avatar on the screen, hit the reload button, and you should see the new avatar. Then you can hit "back" and be on the forums again with the guy in the red hat, or the Larrissa of the moment, or whatever.
I remember when the California DMV was the most infuriating, unhelpful, and slow bureaucracy on Earth. Everything had to be done in person and the lines were positively Soviet. Now they're great. I just got my new driver's license by mail: got the renewal notice by mail, filled out the information and paid online, and got the license about a week later. Not bad.
I wish the Cal Alumni Association were being as efficient. <_<
Luckily, my only real deadline of the moment just got pushed back into nebulosity, so my current inability to get into the Cal libraries is less of a problem.

Sunday will be a day I'm surely going to forget
and saturday too, now that I think about it.
I'd really love to be able to draw trees good. You know, life-like.
I guess I'm tired from tonight.. 7 of us were playing wallball and just bouncing balls and running around
I should make those brownies
and follow the guidlines ;)

:o Oh no! I am SO sorry that Harrison might have to go back to Edmonton. :(
I'm staying home from work this morning but I have to go to a luncheon at a church at 11:30. Fortunately it is only a few blocks from the house.
I guess if I have to be sick it is better to do it now than later this month when I will have a lot to do.

they only run tacrolimus levels on tuesday and friday in regina here- which means harrison's bloodwork from monday/thursday sits a day (they do the other stuff, but only do the tacro 2x a week) before they get around to it.... i think i will get them to do it 'stat' (like it would actually be done 'stat'... <_< ) this week coming up becuase i can't handle waiting for the results!!! i hear that his other stuff is out of whack, but they have to wait a day to see if the tacro level is okay or needs adjusting before they can tell me what is going to happen!!!
if his tacro level is low (his target is 8-10) then they will up his dose, and wait to see what his next level is and what happens with his liver function tests then... if it is high or normal, because of the elevated AST, plus the fact that they upped his prednisone dose by 10 mg, then there's trouble because it just isn't working....
i read online somewhere last night that there was a study done in the states where they weaned liver tx recipients off thier immunosuppressants!!! which i guess, hopefully could be something they can do in the future!!! that would be awesome!!!

I'm loving the fact that you can do almost everything but Drivers Licences at AAA.
I feel guilty having 90 degree weather when all of you are starting to get 'wintery' weather.
I was in here a little earlier and I went to go to the next page and got a 404 error that wouldn't go away so I had to reboot. Hinky things happen when I leave my computer and the DSL turned on all night.
PS I can't believe I didn't check in here ONCE yesterday!

how can i forget to mention the best canadian band ever too: blue rodeo!!! i have seen them in concert about five times, between here, calgary, and free 'concerts' during the exhibitiion!!! they are so talented and wonderful!!!
barenaked ladies were rumored to have been coming here last january, but they never did....
that's pretty sad... they're too big to play here now, now that they are known in the states....
