Tagalog is the official language of the Philippines.

I'm studying it because my Mom grew up there, and I have been speaking bits and pieces of it my whole life...and just really wanting a fluency in it...plus, I love languages.

The NYPD is also looking for people who speak more unique languages...and so I suspect that learning it fully could better my chances there.

I want to come home to everything fresh and clean.

A local man fell asleep at the wheel in the early early hours before dawn today and crashed through a fence, killing a pregnant Appaloosa horse. He fled the scene on foot and was apprehended like miles away on another country road.

I thought that sounded like a great beginning for some Hillbilly Gothic novel. Maybe a short story.

I'm impressed with Lilac's dedication to cleaning.

My friend called me crying and upset...and I feel so badly! I talked to her for about an hour before she had to go, but if I had the money, I'd fly up to NYC to visit her, because given recent events, she could really use someone right about now. :(

After 48 hours of listening to liberal talk radio (at last -- the anti-ClearChannel available in the heartland!), I can't resist jumping on this one.

I have heard interesting discussion today (on the Laura Flanders Show) about how the dramaturgically canny GOP is playing almost subliminally on cultural attitudes about archetypal masculinity, appealing to a very primitive (or infantile, depending on your p.o.v.) desire for paternalistic protection.

The Bush campaign also stands accused of "wuss-baiting" Kerry: a (teen) male social rite I must have missed as a disinterested queer boy.... Apparently the idea is to provoke an unflattering "crazy" reaction or to shame him as a "girly man" -- in either case, on a gut-feeling level of popular consciousness, unfit to be the Alpha Male.

What do I know about simian social behavior.

I think the time is ripe for a Hair remake -- but with a completely different story arc than Forman used in his film version. More '68 Democratic National Convention, less Vietnam War, and focusing on how the seeds of the present cultural divide were sown then.

It's a Lowe's American Tradition color. I love just sitting in the room - it's the perfect green.

ALthough part of my affection might be that it's the first room I've painted in 15 years where I got to pick the color, and then got to live in the same house for a while afterwards!

Tana, we got REALLY lucky. My mother's enthusiasm over becoming a grandma coupled with her employee discount at JC Penney furnished most of the nursery, not to mention all the bedding. And family friends were amazingly generous at the shower. All I had to do as unpack everything and paint!

argh: I can relate. I'm not the only liberal in my family, but as the conservatives are co-opting mainstream religion (shifting the perspective from social justice & personal piety to legislative mean-spiritedness & enforced moralism) I hear increasingly distressing nonsense from otherwise good, decent people.

BUT...I do wish that certain "things" I've been thinking about too much lately will quiet themselves. My mind is constantly running with thoughts, and some of them end up making me upset...or at the very least...confused.

I think I'm getting depressed- and not the flurry of artistic torture come to realization kind of depressed. The worn-out, mopey miserable kind of depressed that makes you want to eat ice cream and watch tv for three straight days and not shower.

herbs aren't drugs they are herbs.
prescription medications are drugs.

nutmeg is a spice, but can be used to give one a eurphoric feeling

WonkyWalkingShoe

You have to eat a lot of it.
A tablespoon or so.
Which doesn't sound like alot but it's ALOT for nutmeg.
But it will make your tummy hurt a bit more than it's worth.

So I hear, I have never recoursed to nutmeg.
Sailors have, but not me.

It's not a big deal... a spot gone crazy. It's a very small thing, but it's right between my eyes, in prime scratching territory. And I don't want it to scar too bad, because it's right in the middle of my face, so I'm forcing myself not to touch. So far so good.

~ No way, me too!

~ I wonder if Stargal ever got that email I sent to her a few weeks ago, thanking her for the oodles of kick ass stuff that she sent to me? One of these days I will get around to sending her, and various other people, some snail mail.

~ I am much too busy with work & school (my online college classes officially started today). I don't think I like this no-time-on-my-hands deal one bit. :(

Yes I am lurking

I am going to a chef's supply store in the morning.

I am also going to a Bible study, getting my hair cut, taking Gwen to the gastroenterologist and topping it all off with parent's night at Gwen's school if I am not prostrate from exhaustion by then.

Theresa is not a dork. No way Jose.

The paycheck I get on Friday will be bigger than usual. :)

OMGosh! I did get the e-mail a few days AFTER it was sent. Yahoo put you in my trash, so I had to switch to gmail... I could not believe it... SK in my trash. WTH?!?

1. Tootsie Rolls are great PMS food.
2. I love ice water and iced tea more than anything else in the world.
3. It became legal (again) to sell Everclear (the 190 proof grain al-kehol that's sure to power your car for a few weeks) in Ohio. Nick bought some, of course, and proceeded to taunt our bonfire guests with it (before, during and after our foray into night golfing). I was the only sober person during this time... :'(
