That is actually the smallest machine I work on...we've got some that are about 10 times that size!!! But we make plastic components...such as pieces that fit into electrical breakers or cars. We also work on parts for Naval ships. Most of the pieces are small...smaller than the size of my palm, and some are smaller than the tip of my finger even. I work on the plastics end of things, but our shop also does machining...working with steel and such.

There were many more than 3 facts in there! :D

I went to the Hampton Inn on a date many years ago. The food and Irish singer were fantastic...the date was NOT!

It was the first restaurant I'd ever been to that had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on the menu.

Of course, I had the crab legs and not the PBJ!

Go for the Meg Ryan look! My mom; resident beauty academy grad says that a short hair cut elongates the face...and therefore results in a thinner look. Have I convinced you?

I slept all of maybe 3 hours last night...and ended up having to work overtime today. Needless to say, I am QUITE sleepy.

The reason for the lack of sleep last night was that there was a bat in my bedroom...heaven only knows how it got there!!! And I'm not even entirely sure he is gone.

Tonight, he is coming over to rid my bedroom of this creature...because I sure as heck don't want to do it, and he seemed unnaturally excited at the thought of a bat...so it's only fair to let him have his fun...

Curlita
08-25-2004, 02:31 PM
A bat?!?! Yiikes! So did you lose sleep because it was making noise or because you were creeped out?

I saw a bat once in the bathroom at a beach-side campground. It was kinda cute, but kinda freaky.

I think that because I grew up on the east coast, in my mind bats=rabies. The west coast does not seem as anti-bat.

Skilyne
08-25-2004, 02:37 PM
Oh...I lost sleep because I was so creeped out. I ended up actually sleeping out in the hallway curled up in the corner, because I couldn't bear to know it was swooping around my head.

Yes-having always lived here on the east coast bats=rabies and I'm afraid it will bite me as I sleep.

I hope he catches him...or that the bat has left, because I can't sleep another night in the hall...I refuse.

Skilyne
08-25-2004, 02:41 PM
I glad that Erica I got my letter...I hope she liked it.

I am curious as to why he is so excited at the prospect of a bat...he about burst with excitement over the whole deal...and then after I told him the whole story about trying to catch it last night, he was HOWLING!

He said that he would have paid money to see me going after a bat and then sleeping in the hall...and that we could have made millions on that tape...because I would have looked like such an idiot. Well...I can't argue. I probably did!!!

kittymao
08-25-2004, 02:41 PM
aw. I wanna see a real bat. I only hear and see them in glimpses at night in this sleepy country town. I'm west coast so it's more awe than anything else.

Did I ever tell you all about the time I was riding to work and a skunk crossed my path? I slowed down so I wouldn't spook him- he looked just like a kittycat. Besides, I didn't want to go to work smelling like polecat. yech.

I wonder what I'll be like in 30 years.. will I have a house and kids, with a job that makes me smile. Will I have anger problems, unable to hold on to anyone.
It's so difficult to picture.
I mean, it honestly seems like last week I was afraid to look at older kids because I was just plain scared. Now I am those older kids, and those young ones are now looking at me, thinking how old I am..

I always want to ask older folks what their biggest regrets in life are... I don't want to have regrets, and maybe by knowing theirs I can avoid those certain things

but I think sometimes I like to believe in fate.. but it seems like thats just too easy. We must have some say in what we turn out as. shouldn't we?

Just ordered a new sewing machine. It is like a spaceship.

This morning I built a tent/den for my sons out of very expensive sheets hung around the bunk beds. I may regret this but as long as they have fun I don't care.

I felt a rush of love for my husband and called him at work to tell him.

I wish Gwensdad and I could get in the car and take a long road trip to somewhere.

I am at work on my day off because I am broke and my credit card statement showed up yesterday! I will be cooking again this weekend so I can sell more casseroles to the people in my ballet class on Monday. I went ahead and filed an expense report at work even though I haven't spent much lately. Where are Dick Clark and Ed McMahon when you need them?!!

Lilac, your son is definitely your son! What a cutie.

First day of school. Makes me want to go out and buy new clothes and school supplies. Isn't it funny how programmed we get into that?

I like reading about the new-to-college experiences too - makes me remember my first few days in the form. Probably the biggest culture shock I ever experienced.

If i lived closer to gwensmom, I would buy a dozen of her casseroles to freeze for after the baby comes.

I keep thinking I should cook ahead and freeze things, but I have no enthusiasm for cooking right now as it is, and so many other things to do to get ready for the baby. Ack!

I've been having a very hard time getting to work this week, and once I get there, a very hard time getting anything done. :(

Don't bother cooking and freezing right now Erica. Just tell other people to do it for you when they ask how they can help.

Aww, Lilac's son looks so cute waiting for the bus! So how was Kennywood?

Sigh. I think I'll go out after all. But the options are rather limited in this neighbourhood.

Asian, couscous, Indian, or Japanese. And a lot of fast food thingies (including McD).

Sometimes my house feels more like a boarding house...where we all come and go as we wish and we live in our own little worlds and rooms.

My Mom also welcomes anyone to stay with us, so quite frequently we have a few "non-members" staying the night...such as my brother's girlfriend, my friends, friends of friends who need a place...foreigners...my Mom welcomes all.

It's kind of a neat way to live I suppose...but it's certainly different. It was much more traditional when I was younger, but like I said...now it is a bit like a boarding house.

Yesterday Mrs. Heffern and her grand-daughter, Tinka, who is two, came over for supper. Since mom always insists to cooking salt meat with the boiled veggies, I had to make my own food...what does this prove? A person can ideed live on cold canned food-- though with a frown.

there are some guys outside cutting down a tree with a chainsaw

i feel bad for the tree

but i feel worse for the guys. they are not using eye protection. i mentioned it and it wasn't a big deal. i said, well, ok, but your life is gonna suck when you lose an eye.

great first impression

frizball
08-27-2004, 09:42 PM
but he did talk to me, in fact he has called 3 times today to see whats up and if i want to hang out :)

the worst part is that i went all emotional when i got drunk and discussed my issue...which, probably should be kept to myself. but it means that he isnt calling b/c he wants a relationship. b/c that issue- well, it was clear i dont want one.

that made no sense. how vague. I wish i could say what i want to, that would be too embarrising

frizball
08-27-2004, 09:47 PM
i made a drunken phone call, and i dont know what i said

i'm afraid i might have said something I didnt want to. and that something might mess up a v. important relationship. and that is killing me

i had said i was not going to drink.. i have a problem with that. i seroiusly am considering some help.

he was upset when i called drunk. he said "i thought you were going to stop. You said you'd stop." thats all i remember. i dont know what i said.

this is killing me. matters of the heart are way too confusing for the mind to work out.

Thank you for the validation, Lilac! God knows the last thing I want to do right now is wander around the mall with a bunch of onesies saying, "Did someone buy this here? Can I exchange it? Maybe for something that would fit a five year old, as that is the only size I don't have yet?"

Tonight I browned 4.5 lbs of ground beef for making casseroles tomorrow. I drained the grease into a can and went to put it in the freezer which is on top of our refrigerator. When I opened the freezer door, something on top of the fridge fell and knocked the grease can out of my hand. Today is my mother's birthday. I gave her an out of print book she wanted and some discontinued makeup she had been looking for. Also, a sheet of those new magnolia stamps since she was born in Mississippi.

I am working on unravelling a deep red chenille sweater. I got it at a thrift store and will try to sell the yarn.

Tomorrow I have to go to the podiatrist and then pay our city taxes.

Aww Lilac left. Tamara are you avoiding me???? :'(

I have not had a purring cat in my lap in ages. :(

Early this morning I dreamed that I was left all alone to take care of Gwen. That dream has bummed me out all day. I told Gwensdad about it and he said that would not happen because he wasn't going anywhere.

I bought blank notecards today so I can make my own cards...I've already made one. And I think I'm going to make my own Christmas cards this year as well.

I bought a copy of Somerset Studio also, and it has been inspiring me to try some altered books...or something similar.

I also decopaged a jar I've had laying around for awile now.

I've been feeling artsy.

Not entirely sure I'd like to go to work tommorow...but such is life I suppose. We are short-handed for a few weeks, and the extra work falls to me...which just ends up being a stresser.

Awww...Sarah! Your husband sounds sweet.

What are you doing with the spray paint Theresa?

Oh noooo! I'm not avoiding you Sarah!!! I'm just popping in and out...trying to avoid having to do real life stuff!

I have to go to my Mom's house in a little bit to get a tape she recorded for my son. I'm hoping that the VCR still works because I havent used it in ages. I'm tired and grumpy and don't feel like driving into town.

I'm not in the mood to go to Mrytle Beach this Friday.
