Principally, I'm here to donate this smiley to gwensmom and the rest of the local math geeks (among whom I proudly count myself): http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoticons4u/crazy/1088.gif

Well, I'm back again. I can' sleep. I've had too much adrenaline flowing through my veins all day.

I just lay in bed and toss and turn.

I tried reading, but I couldnt get into the book...too clinical...so I decided to get up and see who was hanging out in here.

Hello!

I don't get why I keep waking up around 8am of late.

It doesn't stop me from staying up too late in the evening.

The next step would be coffee and breakfast, but I'm still too sleep-chilled to move.

Those who haven't an excuse to start baking then.

Whatever else they may put in the Nervousness water, they certainly seem to have spiked it with caffeine.

Speaking of the Nness water, it occurred to me yesterday that it is often said that three of the most difficult things to get through as a couple are having kids, buying a house, and doing serious remodeling. Poor Curlita!

Nor would she be a logical casting choice when choosing Gollums, IMHO.

Eek! Babies! I held a baby Friday and his mother said it looked good on me. I have no place to file that information.

I mentioned to Brian this morning another reason for us not to have kids. The cat woke me up several times last night, and if I keep getting awakened, I might as well not try to sleep, the end result is the same.

Some one said "Well, aren't you all spiffy today." I looked down and I am wearing a t-shirt and jeans. I pointed this out. Per them, the t-shirt having sparklies in the shape of a firework, and the heels qualify as spiffy.

Julie, you are right. I am very lucky to have family who want to plan a shower for me. Thank you for reminding me before I get all caught up in my drama!

I had a lot of anxiety dreams about breast-feeding a few months ago. I recommend the Sears & Sears breastfeeding book - it's really thorought. I also checked out a BF video, and that helped a lot (it's easier to see how it works). Another woman I know said that taking a breastfeeding class was the best thing she did to prepare. I hope it goes well too!

Lilac, we must have just missed each other. I'm sorry you were alone with your melancholy.

There is an Azerbejani (sp?) belief that we all have a vampire in our lives, someone we fell in love with and were so consumed with that we never really get over. We carry the heartbreak with us forever, to some extent.

It's not a particularly cheery theory, but I know who my vampire was.

Across the street from where I live is a large undeveloped area, it is county land, basically my street is the dividing line between incorporated land and county land. This power station is in that large undeveloped area. At first I thought someone had been playing with fireworks that shouldn't have. It is still buring this morning....

The Arizona Republic
Jul. 5, 2004 12:00 AM

Picture here (http://www.azcentral.com/12news/news/articles/0705transformer05-CP.html)

Firefighters watched in frustration Sunday as four electric transformers near Sun City burned into the night.

Officials feared that the fire could spread to a dozen or so other transformers, and they had not figured out how to extinguish the blaze late Sunday.

"We're letting it burn right now and sizing up the situation," said Jim Heger, the fire marshal in Sun City West.

"It hasn't injured anyone, and that's the way we want to keep it."

The fire started about 7 p.m. in the Westwing substation near Loop 303 and Happy Valley Road. Arizona Public Service spokesman Damon Gross said no customers had lost power, but they may have to curtail their power usage in the future.

Gross said he did not know what caused the fire.

Towering black plumes of smoke could be seen from as far as downtown Phoenix. Gross said the smoke was a byproduct of the mineral oil used to cool the transformers.

An APS environmental team, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and the state Department of Health Services were on scene late Sunday.

Heger said officials could not determine how bad the air quality was because the monitoring devices were tied up in Arizona wild- fires.

At least 50 vehicles stopped near the substation to watch the two 500,000-volt transformers burn as orange and yellow flames licked the huge metal towers.

Nine fire units responded to the scene, including a hazardous materials crew from the Glendale Fire Department.

Gross said while the fire was unfortunate, the timing of the incident worked in customers' favor.

"The demand for energy is less on a Sunday night than during work days," he said. "People don't use as much air-conditioning at night than during the day. So if these transformers had to be down, this was definitely the best time for it to happen."

one is that my nifty new tank top is too huge. and i did not pick it out because if i had and i knew that HUGE was the only size left, i wouldn''t have bought it. see? i'm no good. all crabby.

Gwen kept me up all night! I slept this morning but woke up with a killer headache and shoulder tension. It's under control now after a hot shower, a shoulder massage by Gwensdad and copious amounts of caffeine.

I found out I totally forgot to go to a Fourth of July party we were invited to! I feel awful because the host is a very nice person and there were some other fun people there. It's not like we get invited a lot of places either!

Tonight when my eBay auctions end I will make at least $14.99 on old cross stitch patterns. Yay- extra money for stamps! eBay is a good way to clean the junk out of your house and fund your Nervous habit at the same time.

Rarely have I seen so good a case for dream interpretation.

The zombies are lawyers, the ones everyone loves to hate. You're one of those people who want to become lawyers but don't want to turn into 'that' kind of lawyer. The one injecting you with zombie juice is someone pulling you into a law firm where you don't run your own life, so the zombies might take you over, make you one of them. But you continue fighting the good fight.

That one's so good it might almost have been invented for a novel.

Start by putting a strip of clear packing tape on the inside of the card on the fold. If you don't, the bulk of the pages might make it tear. then get a a straight pin and make the holes before you start sewing. The needle will be easy to push through.

I saw that idea on last year's "Christmas gift idea" thread.

I got a really nice postcard from Indigo today. where has she been?

That's what thimbles are for.

Making pamphlet books is so easy, and easy to do really nicely... I will have to get together better instructions to send to people sometime.

I've seen some pretty good instructions online, but they don't give you all the tricks to make them really nice.

Everyone should know this stuff.

Yeah I was away all last week (how nice was that? even WITH the horrific gall bladder attacks!).

I am back to work but it is our absolutely BUSIEST time of the year! It is so unbelievably busy. I am going out of my mind! I barely have time to check in here and see what's happening and I truly don't have time to reply to anything really. (Have I mentioned lately how much I hate my job?)

I started replying to this message at oh... 5:07 and it is now 5:55 and I am about to hit POST... do you think I can do it before the phone rings???

...no such luck... four minutes later... time to hit POST!

I was 24 before I saw a firefly. At first I was baffled, I remember them being in story books when I was a child, but I never realized they were REAL. Then I was amazed, intrigued, and otherwise enthralled.

I had something interesting to post, but got distracted by my memories of fireflies.

1. I have five tattoos.
2. They consist of two small dragons, a tribal art on my ankle, a small moon & stars on my foot above my pinky-toe, and the kanji symbol for "Truth" on the back of my neck.
3. It's amazing how many people pre-judge you when you have tattoos, especially on the back of your neck. They form opinions about me from my tattoos before they even get to know me! I tell them that my tattoos are like my battle scars in life, but they don't encompass all of who I am. I'm me.

Wow, Lilac, what a compliment! At least now you know how valuable you are to them!

We spent 3.5 hours at the inspection of our new house last night. We keep going to these realtor meetings and loan officer meetings and I expect them to take maybe an hour, and next thing you know we are eating dinner at 9 PM and the dog is looking accusingly at us because he didn't get a walk again.

Time to hit the floor running. Hope everyone has a good day!

Sirius

AH, Curilta, the joys of buying a home. It's great that you got a home inspector though, a lot of people skip that crucial step. Especially if they are buying a new home (by new I mean, you get to see the dirt and then watch it go up from scratch)...and with ours, when the builder was done, we discovered via home inspector that ducts in the attic were not attached, their were spaces on the rough with no roofing material or tiles, and more.

Has anyone heard how Siafu's meeting went yesterday?

TrinityPowers -- the tattoo image is an interesting thing. I've had my one tattoo for 8 years now, and it amazing how shocked people are to discover I have a tattoo, because I am "not the type" something I have never fully comprehended. Yet, when I am trying to explain to people who drastically different my brother and I am, and I cannot articulate it clearly, I give up and say, he has a tattoo that covers his entire right arm and across his neck. (technically i suppose it is several tattoos with a Las Vegas theme, but he had it all done at once and there isn't any blank space, so I call it one huge tattoo).

I remember being offered to match the offer of a new employer once when I gave my notice at a job, but the biggest "compliment" I ever received was when I told an employer I was quitting, he softly said "no" and then started beating his head on his desk. I will be going elsewhere soon.

~ My co-workers are annoying. Apparently one of them is so impatient that the SECOND after the microwave beeps to signal that someone's food is done they take that person's (not their own) food out of the microwave and place it on top of the microwave so they can cook their own rather than waiting a half of a minute for said person to come retrieve their food. <_<

~ Girl-who-loves-sharks kitty, Miss Marley, passed away. I feel very said for her and her kitty. :'(

~ I feel bad grumbling about my co-workers/food in one fact and then mentioning something much more real and much more sad in the next. I don't want to make it appear as if fact #2 is less important to me than fact #1 because, in fact, it's quite the opposite.
