I got up and went to church this morning and then out for lunch.

I am feeling sleepy and lazy, and I think I may try to take a nap.

I have to go back to work tommorow and start a whole new working week, so I might as well really laze it up today! :D

I have a sinus infection. I just got out of bed to post new bingo words and I wound up in here.

I once read a theory I liked about how deja vu happens. It said that when you experience something, your brain sends signals to your awareness center so that you are aware of what is going on, and your brain sends signals to your memory center so that you will remember what is happening. According to this theory, occasionally the signals get crossed and the signal gets to your memory BEFORE you are aware of it, and so when you become aware of it you are surprised to find it already in your memory, hence deja vu.

bluecrayon, sorry about your rat :(

astabeth, are you familiar with the concept of brae she'et? before we are born we experience everything in the universe and then it is "slapped" out of us at birth -- but pockets remain where the memories still breathe and so we bump into our own memories all through our lives...

I miss kamoke.

I rained here today while the sun was out but I couldn't find a rainbow.

We are supposed to go to a stock the bar party for an engaged couple tonight. I forgot to get them something and it's Sunday so I can't buy anything. So I guess I will have to stay home. It's better because I am in no mood to party today.

Gwen slept all morning while Gwensdad was taking care of her. She woke up miserable with an upset stomach and I have been dealing with her ever since.

My family is back from my cousins wedding in Oklahoma. They all had a great time and I was stuck here.

That's very cool! Sometimes I think that our brains can understand how everything in the universe works but they can't understand it and keep our bodies running at the same time - does that make sense?

I once had a moment of perfect understanding but I lost it. It was all mathematics.

Hubby and i hauled a couple loads of dirt to the flowerbed that is still not finished. It should have been completed long ago.

i was horribly bitten up by some vicious bugs while getting the dirt. Next time i'm taking a can of instant bug kill with me. i hate bugs....have i ever mentioned that?...only a gazillion times, i'm sure!

My apartment building seems almost deserted. The young guy who was living with his grandparents next door moved out a few months ago. The young couple across from them seems to be on vacation, the other young couple above them broke up (apparently) and moved out a few weeks ago, most of the other family upstairs seems to be away at the moment, and the neighbor directly above me has been living with her girlfriend somewhere else for over a year now.

There are six trash cans (wheelie bins, actually), one for each apartment. Normally, only four or five are filled and taken out to the curb. Today, it's one and a half.

It is another gorgeous day today.

My son turned 11 on Saturday. I had a huge bash for him at the Go-Cart/bumper boat/mini golf park. It was a blast! I made the most disgusting-looking cake (kitty litter with tootsie-roll sculpted cat "droppings") which was a HUGE hit with the boys!

I had a "mother's only" go-cart race, too. I don't think some of the mothers knew how to take me. Some of them I know and am friends with...others probably think I'm a little "strange." All but 2 mothers participated in the race.

I can't believe my little boy is already 11! How did this happen so fast??

This is a man who grew up urban in Newark, NJ and had never really experienced rural life. It was hysterical just watching him try to help out with some of the yard work yesterday!

~ We got our new couch on Saturday. We didn't pay the extra money to have it delivered which was a bad idea because it took us nearly 3 hours to get it in the house. It wouldn't fit through the doorways. We ended up taking our front door off and then later our kitchen door along with the screen door and the FRAME around the screen door. Finally we managed to squeeze it in, but in doing so the couch had white paint scraped all down the sides (luckily I got it off with a sponge)

~ Yesterday my back really hurt so I took some pain killers which made me a woozy blob for the rest of the day & night.

 right back at ya babe!!!!

1: appointment went okay.... in a nutshell:

he will do the amnio if we want him to (or CVS, but...)

he doesn't see why we'd take the risk (.5%) for miscarriage to find out since we won't 'terminate the pregnancy' if the baby will be sick....

he thinks that newborn screening for CPS is fine and dandy....

2: okay, so he didn't put it like that, and he was very good and fine about it all... but....

3: even after explaining what hell we went through with the staff here with harrison, and that i WILL NOT deliver here if this baby is affected, he still thinks it will all be fine, since 'they will know what they are dealing with'.....

nymphette
06-14-2004, 11:51 AM
1: they DON'T know though, that is the problem... none of them know and none of them will take the time to learn.....

2: i have zero faith in the entire NICU staff here.... even though the worst of the shit came from dr. lee who doesn't even work there anymore!, all FIVE of them are accountable....

3: so we need to 'decide' if we want the procedure and let him know by mid-july.....

Well today has been fun. <_< I just returned from the emergency room...I was in the middle of work when all of a sudden I got a terrifically sharp pain in my side. I could hardly move and it hurt to breathe. Then I started getting chills. The guys were quite concerned and wanted to call 911, but I agreed instead to go to the hospital. By time I got there, my fever was 102.1, and the pain was shooting up and down my right leg.

They don't know what is wrong with me. I've been put on some pain meds, given stuff for the fever, and I am not to lift or move anything...mostly for the rest of the day I am to lie here in bed on my back.

I hope it is nothing serious.

~ Skilyne - that must have been scary! I hope everything is ok, and hope you will feel better soon!

~ I have been considering going to see a doctor (which is something I pretty much never do) because I have had strange pains in my legs. I haven't had a good nights sleep in weeks because the pain wakes me up nearly every night. It's turning me into a hypochondriac wondering if I have diabetes or cancer or something. Still, I am too scared & stubborn to go to a doctor.

the perinatologist need sto know in mid-july if we will do the amnio- then it will be booked for the first week of august.... and then we'll find out the sex... and a whole lotta time later, after the genetic stuff, if baby is affected..... i think they can get the sex right away though.... it takes weeks to months for the genetic stuff, unless they have already found where the defect lies (on the chromosome)... which means they would have done some kind of testing with harrison back in winnipeg.... which i dont' recall them doing, though a lot of that first two months is such a blur..... if they didn't do it, then harrison has to get bloodwork done to determine the chromosomal damage.....

i think that was 3 fact... even though i didn't number.... ;)

Added smashed vanilla wafers (tinted green with food coloring) and 2 packages of already-made vanilla pudding. The turds were melted tootsie rolled that I molded to look like "the real thing."
I served the whole shebang up with a CLEAN UNUSED pooper scooper.
Believe it or not, my MOTHER came up with this recipe!

The boys loved it! They were screaming with fake disgust as they put their "turds" in their mouths. Each boy was vying for the biggest turd in the box, but that honor went to my son...since he was the Birthday boy!

Some of the mother's thought it was a great idea and dug right in...others just kind of looked at it like it was the real thing and passed. You can probably guess that the ones who passed on the litterbox cake were also the ones who passed on the "Mother's Only" go-cart race!

I'll post a picture of the cake as soon as I get the party pics developed!

I hope that Skilyne is taking care of herself! That sounds scary.

My husband went to the doctor today and found that 1) his spleen is fine, just bigger than normal spleens and 2) he has bruised and possible broken a rib, but should be fine. No lymphoma, no malaria.

I'll third the opinion of medical pros. It scares me that some folks (like my mom) go to the Dr. like they are God and will be able to make everything better.

Critical, skeptical thinking is always a good idea! It pays to be your own advocate.

In lieu of a third fact, I will get off my soap box and go think about dinner.

Curlita: I am trying to revamp it and I can't seem to fit everything on teh (supposedly recommended) three pages. I have cut out all I can cut out and made the font as small as possible without making it too hard to read. Any advice? Indigo, I say 2 pages is the limit unless you have extensive experience in something. If you want to send it to me, maybe I can help. My addy is rapunzal3 at yahoo dot com.

Rustell, et. al., re: the fridge on the porch. We have an older home (well, 1910, which makes is pretty darn old) and a small kitchen. The fridge is actually out the back door on the back porch, which is enclosed. But still. It's essentially on the back porch.

I tell my neighbors that if they are ever hungry, they are welcome to wander onto the porch and have a snack, since the fridge is accessible even if the back door is locked.

The social worker visit went great. she is putting us down for "urgent need" and said we should hear something in 30 days. We just might get it this time because some people won a suit against the state to make the state pay for stuff they are supposed to. I have no idea how much $$ we are talking about. Of course Gwen acted like a perfect angel instead of the hellion she has been all weekend!

A thunderstorm blew through here and lightening struck somewhere nearby. Our lights flickered a few times but didn't go out.

Curlita, you should watch a few episodes of Designed to Sell on HGTV. The show is about how to "stage" a house before you put it on the market. They say to put away personal items like family photos. This way it is easier for people to picture themselves in the house.

On A&E they have one called Sell This House and BBC America has House Doctor so the wealth of knowledge is endless and VERY enlightening.

I should be cleaning up my 'public' rooms and the office since a friend of ours is coming over to install Dreamweaver on my computer so I can take over the maintainence of my hubby's websites.

As far as I can figure, cassoulet is just French for casserole, and it usually has vegetables, beans, and sausage in it. Mine has white beans, carrots & zuke, and some chicken sausage. It will make for good leftovers for lunch tommorow, too.

I've been clearing away our clutter - I've already put a lot of the photos and knicky knacks. The house won't actually go on the market until after July 1, because we still need to get the exterior painted.

Indigo, I wasn't including references in the two page total.

BONUS: I'm glad the social worker visit went well, Sarah! Maybe a non-hellion child is more sympathetic than a hellion one... :)

It may cheer Gwensmom to know that a child cried today because I wasn't there. Okay, that didn't come out right. I made friends with a 5 year old, when she discovered I had left the building (for ten minutes so I could bring back food) she started crying because she wanted me to be there. I'm at the office, tired as hell. I just can't seem to keep my eyes open! Have to go to a job site after lunch....hopefully I'll be awake by then.

I'm getting extremely nervous because I know I'm going to have to tell my boss that I'm starting my own company. Nobody here knows anything about this yet. I figure I'll give them a month's notice before I quit.

I'll probably be quite poor once I set off on my own. I'm used to this income. Hopefully I'll make out okay. Actually, I'm pretty certain that I'll be "okay", or I would never have even made the first move to venture out on my own. It's still scary, though!

***Hello to my newest sister, Skilyn! (I just now read back through the posts!!!)

I took off work today, because I am still not sure what is going on with me. The doctors aren't either (AGHHH!). But then last night, I kept waking up in cold sweats. Yeah...got to admit...I'm a little bit concerned here.

Hello back to you...my new sister Lilac!

I'm sorry to hear about your TV and VCR Sarah. Kamoke is right though, you are a god person. It's bound to get better soon! Hugs...

so i sat in a tree for two hours keeping watch for the arrival of the stepdad so the sister could play online. an old catalpa. love that tree.

~ I have catalpa trees in my yard too! They have pretty white flowers all over them right now.

~ Damn it's hot out today. I half considered turning on the AC in my car when I went out at lunch, but I convinced myself not to since I wasn't going to be in the car for very long. I almost never use the AC in my car since it's such a huge waste of gas.

~ Ocean Spray Juice & Tea (http://www.oceanspray.com/prod_juicetea.asp) is GOOD! I highly recommend Wildberry flavor. I'm sure the others are good too, but that's the only one I have had so far.

1: hugs to everyone who's sick.. :(

2: and gwensmom- yes, shouldn't house insurance cover that??? though, who knows....

3: when we bought a new bed a few years ago, the mattress warranty was NOT warrantied for 'ACTS OF GOD'......... <_< so like if a tornado ripped it out of our house, and it got set on fire by lightning and then soaked and ruined the rest of the way by a freak tsunami in saskatchewan, then too bad... no warranty.... :P

06-15-2004, 11:27 AM
Ooooh...thanks for that tidbit sarahkate! i saw the commercial for the Ocean Spray juice/tea, and have been curious. i shall buy some next trip to town.

i began (another) diet today. So far so good....unless you're going to count the small bag of chips i ate, then it's not so good. Chocolate doesn't count though, does it? i mean seriously, can one be expected to completely give that up?? i think not!

This desk is in desperate need of cleaning and organizing, and i'm tired of looking at the mess. i might clean it up in a few minutes. But then i might not.

sarahkate
06-15-2004, 11:27 AM
~ Don't worry too much Larrissa - jobs usually all suck, but your coworkers might be really cool people, people just like you who don't want to be there but they have to because they need money & blah...blah...blah. So, you never know...you might actually have FUN wherever you work. I would recommend trying to work someplace that isn't a big corporation, go with a privately owned small business if you can because you are more likely to have a nice boss who will get to know you & care about you & they will probably be less strict so you will get to goof off & have fun! Good luck!

~ I think many home owners insurance policies won't cover "acts of god" either, which is ridiculous. So, if you accidentally burn down your house because you knock over a candle they will cover it, but if lightning strikes and your house bursts into flames then you are screwed. Damn insurance companies!

Edited because:

~ Ha! I forgot to post a 3rd fact (though those previous 2 were quite long enough anyway) so I will say (now that I see Cindy's last post) that of course chocolate doesn't count...it's good for you...it makes you happy so no one should be able to cut it out of their diet! ;) :P

Thank you sarahkate

And Larrissa...it's true about the job....once you get to know everyone there and get into a routine, you'll be much more comfortable and will realize that it's no big deal at all. It's just the initial thought of going through the motions of applying, interviews, etc. i'm beaming lots of good wishes your way. :)

Ok.....no more games for me until this desk is tidy and organized.

I agree with the small workplace. I work with 14 men...so a shop of 15 employees is nice and small. We all get along for the most part, the benefits are great, and my boss is pretty laid-back...most of the time.

My hubby is having issues with one of his friends, and while I was cooking dinner I came to the realization that while I do get kinda lonely having no REAL friends to do things with on a regular basis, it is much less complicated.

Examples:

My best friend (and I use that term lightly) since Jr High scammed me to get me to put her on my CC I never used so that she would have one "just in case" for when she went to Ireland...she paid for her trip by taking out $4000 in cash advances, then lost her job and stuck me with the bill.

Another friend since Jr High called me up and asked if she could borrow $1200 to pay her mortgage...when I said I couldn't she asked if my mom could do it. WTF?!?

This same friend tried to set me up with other guys while I was dating my hubby because he didn't like her.

I was trying to remember through the last four pages who all I wanted to send good wishes to but I gave up so   to everybody.

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you respond to a minor comment from four pages ago. No one remembers what you're talking about.

I have a bug phobia. I won't squish them or let anyone use anything of mine to squish them. I don't want anyone's shoes on my floor if they've been used to squish a bug. If I see one, and no one's there to rescue me, I have to watch him until someone arrives. If not, he'll get away and there's no telling where he'll be. If I can, I set a cup upside down over them until my hubby gets home. But only if they move slow and don't jump. I prefer that they be flushed down the toilet.

I just took a nice hot shower...that always feels good. I smell much better too!

Robyn, I'm sorry I missed dinner last night, but next time you make that casserole, let me know and I will show up on your doorstep!! You are always making nummy food!

Larrissa and I have the same birthday, but she is exactly ten years younger than me.

Tana deserves much, much better friends than she has.

I hope the crazy guy who stalks me doesn't go into my work today!!!!!!

I hate doctors for perscribing narcotics to addicts.
What are they thinking, that just because the addict is really in pain he won't abuse the pills?

I am so hungry, and my freezers full of food, but I can't eat.

Larrissa you're a gem! i eat anything but sour cream and dust bunnies :D And hanging out with you would be a whack load of fun!

Cindy, thanks for asking after me! Baby has some kind of major project going on in there, either that or he is learning how to tap dance. I had a dream last night that I was bouncing him on my lap.

I am well, but very angry with the student painters who were supposed to come pressure wash the house this morning and select paint colors with me. They never showed! I waited 45 minutes and was late to work! Bastards!

AND I left my work number with them and asked them to call to reschedule and they have not called me! :yell: I told J that he needs to deal with them now, because otherwise I am afraid that the Scary Pregnant Lady Hormones will rear their ugly head and I will start stuffing painting equipment into orifices.

BONUS: this is the first time I've felt that using the :yall: icon was warranted. It feels good.

~ I don't like feeling like a snitch but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do...and in this case I felt like I had to do something. :(

*sigh*...not much happening here. I finished up some ATCs, wrote a letter...stuff like that. At least I've accomplished a bit more today than yesterday!

I'm listening to the "Harry Potter" soundtrack...there are some tracks on there that are really pretty.

I am eating macaroni and cheese...homemade with extra cheese! YUM!

i said i wasn't cooking dinner tonight. heh. i'll try not to feel guilty about it. i sometimes need a break though--my hand has been getting weak from cutting and mixing.

I think I am bleeding to death!

I agree that my ex-friends were really bad friends...that is why they are not friends of mine anymore.

Advice to all those girls graduating from HS or college...if you have a best friend; don't get an apartment/house together because chances are she will cease to be your friend by the time it's all over. (I don't know if it's the same for boys)

~ I'm supposed to be taking a vacation day from work tomorrow so that my sister and I can make/bake some stuff for my dad for father's day since tomorrow is the only day she has available because she is so busy with work and finals at school. I found out that one of my coworkers has to leave early tomorrow so now I have to call in the morning to find out if one of the other coworkers will be here (she has been out on vaca and should be back tomorrow) so if for some reason she isn't in then I have to come in which means no baking fun with my sister. <_<

Tana, why do you think you are bleeding to death?!?!

We were never allowed to use Mom's fiskars when we were little. It was verboten!

I FINALLY got a call from the student painters! The little snot who was supposed to paint our house quit on Saturday and never called us! Now we need to wait and see when they can fit us in with another team. More :yell: ???
