i'm glad i had company over today to keep me entertained and away from the computer so i didn't have time to get all down about the boards being down.
i went to this redneck party last night. i made sure i didn't drink or anything because as soon as i got there these 2 big 'ol redneck boys started hitting on me, and i decided right away that i shouldn't drink and crash there. it just wouldn't be a good combination.

My son has a friend spending the night. They're upstairs in his room playing video games. I took them to see that disaster movie...can't even remember what is was called (The day After, or something like that). Then we went out for pizza.

Gee. And all day I've been thinking that was just a crank phone call.
The trouble with coming here and trying to be clever is that then, if you're a stickler like me, you have to go on and come up with three random facts.
I suppose that one could keep repeating the same three or nine random facts, but it seems like cheating.

It cracks me up that there were a bunch of us here in the middle of the night, just checking to make sure things were okay. Addicts, we're all addicts!
After checking in here, I went downstairs to do some busywork and watch TV. The baby, who has been a quiet presence, suddenly decided to make like Pele. I glanced down at my belly at one point and noticed that I could see it was moving. About 80% of me was totally enchanted, but the other 20% was a little weirded out ("It's trying to get out! Alien! Aaaagh!").
Perhaps we need a three random vignettes thread. My facts are always awfully long.

my uncle gave me a super-snuggly mattress pad, a bed skirt and a comforter...he redecorates a lot and i'm the grateful recipient of his cast offs.
my dad said i could order a mettress set and new bed for my guest room, on him! i told him to bring his van up and we'd scour the second hand stores for the bed instead of ordering new.

I just made paper for the first time! It came out nice. I used some letterhead from a business Gwensdad used to have and some old sewing patterns.
Now I am going to call my friend in New Mexico and tell her that yes, I would like to have that old papermaking equipment she doesn't want any more.
Gwensdad is at his parents house and I'm hoping he will bring back some cake.

Yes...I know. Triangles are too sharp edged for my comfort. I've been in one before and it was none too pleasent.
I don't know what to do. I know Kevin loves me. Loves me with all his heart and soul...but I don't love him in the same intense way. I wish I did. He's such a GOOD man.

an orbital hand sander is (and i'm just making this up, so don't pay me any mind) is a sander that you hold in your hand and it swirls around quickly in little orbits.
i'm going to put up a new shower curtain rod because i got a new shower curtain and the old plastic rings weren't snazzy enough for it, so i got these nifty little hooks with ceramic buttons on them, but the hooks aren't big enough to go around the old rod.
i'm doing that now.

~ zanna can be my sister, I think she would make a great one! Though, I already have a 17 year old sister, so you would have to share me. Oh, and since we have years worth of catching up on sisterhood to do I hope zanna is prepared for nasty pinching, shoving, hair pulling fights. :P
~ I had a very, very sad night last night. I came home from work, and as I was on my way to check the mail I saw a baby pigeon on the ground. It must have fallen from a nest that the birds built on our roof. The bird was still alive. It was breathing very heavily, its whole body was kind of heaving every few seconds. I ran inside, and got a little box to put it in. I didn't know what to do after this, so I left the bird in the box on the ground and then I went back in and went online quickly to see if I could find info about rescuing baby birds. The only good info I found suggested that I build a new nest out of a little container of some sort and attach it with wire to the tree it fell out of. Since the bird didn't fall out of a tree and there were none close by I knew this wouldn't work, and there isn't an easy way to get on the roof. Finally my boyfriend got home from work, he tried calling a local animal shelter/vet to see what they would say, but of course they were closed for the day. Then he called his mom and she said she knows a game warden so she tried giving him a call. In the meanwhile I gathered some bunches of dead grass and things to put in the box to make a nest for the bird. I bundled him in there as best as I could, but by then I think he had died. I sat there watching him, hoping I would see some movement, for a long time but sadly he wasn't moving anymore. :'( I feel bad. I just wonder if there was something I could have done to save him if I had acted sooner.
~ That was a very long fact. I guess I could have just written a shortened version like..... I found a baby bird yesterday, it died, I was sad. But that just doesn't do justice to the situation dammit.
sarahkate
06-03-2004, 08:10 AM
~ I forgot to mention the baby bird was still so young it didn't even have all of its feathers. Birds usually really freak me out, but I couldn't just leave that one there to die alone. I didn't even want to bury it last night because I was afraid it might still be alive, so we kept it in the little nest/box and locked it in our shed overnight. I checked on it this morning and it's most definitely dead. :(
~ After locking the bird in the shed my boyfriend accidentally locked the keys in his company's van that he had for the night. As far as he knew his boss never made a copy of the key, and he couldn't get ahold of anyone at work so we had to call a lock smith and spend $60 for them to unlock the door. His boss probably won't be reimburse him for it because he forgot to ask for a receipt.
~ After that whole fiasco we were starving so we got pizza for dinner. White garlic pizza. It wasn't very good, too greasy. What a suck ass night. I'm hoping today will be at least a slight improvement.

3. I don't think that's true, as Nick's old friends would've completed the jobs, not made multiple trips, wouldn't have nearly gotten caught by Nick and wouldn't have left coat hangers IN the vehicles... But what do I know, I just read a lot of mysteries and enjoy CSI?

Sarahkate, that was such a wonderful story about the baby bird! i'm sorry it died, but birds are very fragile....they seem to go into shock instantly, and rarely recover. :(
Bluecrayon.....many good wishes are being sent out to you!
Siafu.....i dunno....i'm the same way...thought i was the only one, but glad i'm not. i don't know how you feel about your ex, but i really don't like mine at all. i guess i get upset for the reason medeous mentioned.

Green tea sounds good, i think i'll make some also.
i decided Thursday is not a good day to begin a diet....it's much too close to the weekend, and weekends were made for enjoyment, not for refraining.
i feel very lonely today.

~ Your car was broken into Nicole?! :o I didn't know that. Did I miss a post about it somewhere? Well that's not right. I don't know why people feel it's ok to steal others belongings.
1. I looked and sure enough, I didn't post... I am such a slacker. I can't believe people still talk to me on here...
2. I'm going to make it to one of the local bookcrossing meetups at some point in the future.
3. Hello, Robyn. Have a great day creating...

- Good luck for tomorrow, cb. :)
- I like Siriustell's tattoo avatar. Yes, I know it's her tattoo. :P
- I'm going to have to make ginger lemonade again this weekend. I go through that stuff fast.

you guys made me feel so much better about being upset. i don't like her much either, so i just wanted the happy scene bit. i will have my happy scene eventually.
i went for a physical. the doctor checked my spleen, my ovaries, my liver, lots of organs.
she also gave me some vitamins.

I was once asked to design a pair of round Celtic knot tattoos.
I haven't had any ginger lemonade for several weeks.
I wish that at least once one of my carefully asked questions I e-mail to my local NPR station would be read/summarized correctly, and not twisted to make me sound like some angry reactionary.

a bunch o' facts...I have to eat to take the antibiotics for my cold (or else I get sick to my stomach on top of being sick)...so, i got out of bed to go get food and discovered i am really dizzy -- enough that I don't want to attempt descending the stairs...but, of course, the computer was close by...
Now, I get to decide if at 30, I am too old to call my mommy and ask her to bring me food. She has keys, so i wouldn't have to venture to let her in...I think I'd prefer that than calling Brian and seeing if he can leave work. I'm more likely to just try the stairs in small doses. Just wish my head didn't feel like a boulder wobbling on my shoulders....
The cat is useless in times like this....

three random wonderings...
i wonder if HQ designed the tattoos, since he only mentioned that he was asked...
i wonder how BC/CB is doing today...
i wonder if my new sister will say hello today

~ Awww...ibiddy_boo - I wish I could come keep you company so you wouldn't be lonely. I could tell you all of the sad animal stories I have. (I actually have quite a few :() and I could tell you a few happy animal stories too!
~ I have been wearing flip-flops almost everyday for the past few weeks. They make my feet happy.
~ Ginger lemonade. Hmm.... interesting. Now I want some lemonade!

my i'm sick and dizzy random facts reads a lot more melodramatic than i anticipated....
i recently learned that during WWII there was a German POW camp at Papago Park. They got a hold of a map and spent months digging an escape tunnel. They had built themselves a canoe and carried it to the salt river which was marked on the map.
this is very funny/sad because if you live here you know that our rivers are dry 90% of the time, so they merely found a riverbed with puddles.

I bought something on ebay and paid with paypal. The seller is now awol and hasn't communicated or even claimed my payment.
I tried to cancel the payment. the directions said to click on the cancel button in the action column. there is nothing in the action column.
So I sent a q to paypal and they want me to call them at a number that is not toll free.
Can anyone tell me how to get my payment back???

2 the green party are excluded from the leaders' debate, again *grr*
1 i've signed the party's petition and sent emails complaining about this fact
2 if this were "my house" (it's my parents') i'd have a green party lawn sign put up (even though i hate those lawn signs, it'd give me a real kick just to see *one* green party sign up around here)

~ I think Sirius should call her mom.
~ I think Sirius's mom would like that and it would make her feel all warm and gooshy inside to know that her daughter still needs her.
~ Speaking of moms, I think gwensmom is a cool mom. I wonder if gwen would mind sharing her with me? Though, it would be funny having a mother who has the same name as I do. :P

Poor Sirius! Don't venture stairs....call mommy!
Thanks Sarahkate  Flipflops....was there ever a greater invention?? Well, perhaps chocolate....but they don't exactly make one's feet happy.
i've never had ginger lemonade either, but it sounds interesting.

are you sure the payment wasn't claimed? i think the action to cancel goes away after they claim it...
Try this number 1-877-672-9725
it's an 800 number for paypal....

~ I wish I knew a definite way to help. All I can think of is maybe calling your bank and asking if there is some way they can put a stop payment on anything that comes out of your account from Paypal. I'm not sure if they will be able to do that or not, but it's worth asking.
~ I have never had a bad experience with a seller on Ebay (yet). Though, I haven't bought very many things there.
~ One time on Ebay I bought a metal South Park sign as a joke gift for my boyfriend. The seller accidentally sent me the wrong sign, so I emailed her to let her know about the mistake and to tell her I would send the other sign back to her. She replied telling me to keep the incorrect sign and she would also send me the correct one. That was nice :) Too bad all Ebay sellers can't be so good.

Rustell, I still have some cake left over from the cake mailing project. Shall I mail you some too? BTW- thanks for the number- I will try it. the payment is definitely unclaimed.
Haha! Sarahkate I'm not sure if I am old enough to be your mom. I don't know how to be a mother to anyone who can actually talk to me. I'm very good at dishing up pureed food however.
I told Gwensdad that he was out of tortilla chips and he laughed because I'm the one who ate most of them.

3. HQ, any letters not being understood by radio personalities are meant to sound reactionary on the air. It's a defense mechanism they teach us in sophomore year. LOL. The same year they teach us that no matter what, we're (the press) is always right. YEAH RIGHT...
