I went to my grandmas house today and cleaned out her pantry.
There was food in there with expiration dates from '94, and at least 10 cans of evaporated and condensed milk. I threw out stuff that probably was fine but I felt she really didn't need anymore and wouldn't even miss.
I actually found a can with botulism in it.

My parents have a can of rhubarb which has moved house with them twice now. It's almost as old as me (I'm 24!)
I love coincidences.
I love Tanagee's signature - especially the Spanish proverb!

i'm a sucker for "as seen on TV!" and "NOT AVAILABLE IN STORES!!!"
when i see the items actually available in a store, i feel sneaky and lucky like someone who finds 10 bucks on the ground and keeps it
i am currently trying epi-stop on my left shin while my 6-second ab machine glares balefully at me from it's unopened box. :D

I rented the book on tape "Strange Highways" only because James Spader was narrating it. I don't actually like Dean Koontz.
I heard my parents gettin' it on last night, it was gross.
I miss family reunions.

I just finished catching up on all the 3RF posts since I was here last. I spent the weekend out of town.
The baby has started movin' and a-groovin' on a regular basis, usually when I am laying in bed early in the AM or in the PM before going to sleep. And this morning while I was driving to work and listening to heavy metal. Hmmm.
Is it too early to eat my lunch? I have yummy Greek leftovers.

I actually did see that you won WTA after I posted, but thought I'd let you have a little victory dance continuation in TRF.
Now, play your Scrabble word.
Additional note: Has anyone noticed that my TRF often turn into three converstaion points in response to Larrissa?

I wanted to find an ATC in my ATC container, so well, I found it.
It was at this point that I notice that I store all of my ATCs alphabetically by the artist who created it.
I am actually quite comfortable with the fact that I do this, it is the fact that I did it subconciously that makes me raise my eyebrows...

Rustell you are the most organised Nnesser ever! We should have had a Phrennies category for that!
I'm going out tonight and I can enjoy it because I did lots of LMAO work today that I've been stressing about!
I have had so much trouble getting postage stamps off paper today. First I tried steaming them off over the kettle but ended up scalding my fingers. Then I remember the water trick from when I was a wee stamp collector as a child. I floated the stamps in a little dish of water and that worked brilliantly until I left them in the empty dish to dry - they re-stuck themselves to the dish so I had to re-soak them. *sigh* That was a long fact.

i got a chance to see my love for a few hours monday, tuesday, and even today! [today's meeting was much better than the others though ;)] getting to see him for 3 days in a row, even if it was only for a sort time each day, was so incredibly awesome. but hopefully i have enough memories of his face to last me until the next time i get to see him, which we don't know when will be since now that school has let out ..it could be 2 weeks ..a month ..more :(
my sleep pattern has still been way off whack. i'm trying my best to regulate it, but it seems that i have a hard time actually sleeping at night all of a sudden.
yesterday i did the most unlike-me thing i have done in a while. i went shopping, at a mall, for about 7 hours. i went with two friends of mine, but really, how do normal people do this? wow.

I, too, am not a shopper. I like the get in, get what I want, and get out theory.
Some find it amusing that after a shopping trip with my mother I want to take a nap. I don't know why but browsing for hourse exhausts me.
Maybe it is all the energy I expend thinking of more productive ways I could be spending my time. I do talk my mom's ear off though because I try to overcompensate the uselessness of it by insuring it is quality mom time.

"she" thinks that there is another game out there with larrissa, but "she" could be wrong.
Aye! What the heck are those words Josie is playing? She's like Meika with her made up words. ;)
In my current Scrabble game with Josie, I have (are you ready for this Larrissa?) 410 points. I just sit and stare at it. How come I am so much better at e-scrabble than playing on the board? Oh -- because Brian does not allow words like "en" "xi" "ae" -- he gets upset and chants "you can't use fake words" until I give in and take them back.

Found this in my Yahoo search...is this what it is Lilac? Sounds kinda good except for the lamb...
Title: Kibbee
Categories: Lamb/mutton, Lebanese
Yield: 6 servings
1 Leg of lamb (have fat & bone removed; ground fine twice) Approx. 4-5 pounds
1 c Bulgur wheat; soaked for 1/2 hour in warm water
1 lg Onion; grated
Salt; to taste
Pepper; to taste
1 ds Cinnamon
1 ds Allspice
1/3 c Pine nuts
Squish wheat in hands to remove water. Then mix all ingredients well. Taste to see if you need more spices. (It's ok to eat this raw; indeed, it is considered a delicacy, although personally I prefer it cooked!)
Grease a large baking pan, at least 13x9 or larger.
Divide meat in half. Make bottom layer. Flatten with hands until even. Add pine nuts.
Add top layer of meat and flatten until even. Cut diagonal lines in both directions, not all the way through, so have diamond pattern. Dot well with butter and Crisco, more butter (or margarine) than Crisco. Use half teaspoonfuls at a time. Should be a pat every couple inches or so...
Bake for 1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees, or until brown.

well, i do like to shop, but it depends totally on the location ..
i could to goodwill or a thrift store 3-4 days a weeks and love it, because you get a different selection of neat things everytime you go.
but outlet stores and such at malls ..bleh. too high of prices for clothes that everyone else already has. when shopping at thrift stores i get totally different things than anyone else. i get alot of comments on my dress such as "where in the world did you get that!? i love it!" but when i tell someone it came from goodwill, they get really turned off by the idea of buying someone else's used clothes. people my age are so fickle ..argh.

Lorelei is on a special diet to detect food allergies so I also have to be on the diet since I'm nursing her. I can have most fresh or frozen veggies, any fruit but citrus, and any meat as long as it's not processed (no lunch meat or bacon). No dairy, butter, mayo, wheat, caffeine, or anything processed. I have had two rice waffles today. All I get to drink is water, apple juice, grape juice, or pineapple juice.

we had tornado warnings and flood warnings and such this evening and i was supposed to take nan and the pup to the basement for a rollicking good time under the stairs, but i rebelled and decided to lie in bed watching TV with them instead, with the plan to shield their bodies with my own when the windows broke and my house was destroyed. i'm pretty sure i would've, too.
we went to lowe's this afternoon to collect paint chips and look at wall surrounds for the tub.

I was stopped at a light this evening and noticed two balloons in the backseat ceiling area of the car in front of me. They caught my eye because they were twitching and bobbing about. At first I thought this was residual random bounciness from the car's stop. Then they twitched a couple more times while I was waiting there and I deduced the existence of a small person out of sight in the back seat.
It was cute.
I spoke to Eve on the phone three times tonight, though the first time was only to her voicemail.

The people we went out with last night ordered champagne - "because it's Wednesday!" Of course, silly me, we always spend ££££ to celebrate that fact!
One of the people I met is an actor. He scared me a bit. He asked to look through my handbag as his opening line.
We got fliers from the British National Party in with the post this morning. I brought one up to the flat to read out of curiosity and I am disgusted. (The BNP is a very right wing political party in this country)
Bonus fact: postal workers can refuse to deliver the BNP fliers because of something called a "conscience clause" - an agreement whereby they can refuse to deliver offensive material - in this case, racist material. Obviously our postie decided to deliver them anyway.

1: popping in and out today... <waves to cuilainie!>
2: on the phone all morning!!!! trying to get harrison's tx 'moved' to edmonton.... talked to the tx coordinator there and she told me they have had problems with communication through toronto... so i guess i shouldn't take it all personally, but come on.... professionalism!!!
3: i hope changing the surgery venue wont' be more trouble than it's worth... :( but....
a: we can drive the 8 or so hours to edmonton- that means no airfare costs for my mom's TWO trips...
b: she can get home sooner too- you can't fly for a month post surgery- so she would have had to stay in TO until then- but you can drive, as long as you get out and stretch your legs and rest every hour or so- so she can go home after the 2 weeks recovery....
c: which means that she doesn't need to worry about my neice being out of school for a whole month.... (even though we had wanted the surgery done in the summer so she wouldnt' miss ANY school... it's not really an option though in edmonton, we'd be looking at christmas time... but with all the feet dragging going on, i am sure toronto is booked for july and we've missed it there too... :()
d: i'll be able to have family/friends closer- meaning i can take a day off to go to calgary and see friends/family, and that everyone in regina would be that much closer to being able to come and visit/help- as opposed to the considerable flight cost, not to mention hotel!!!!!!
e: er. that's it i think... time for lunch...
oh yeah.. the transplant team in edmonto meets tonight, so the coordinator will talk to them and figure out what can be done.... she's sympathetic i think because they've had communication problems, with thte same people too!!!

05-27-2004, 12:43 PM
Hey Robyn! I'll keep my fingers crossed for an Edmonton tx... it really sounds like a better plan for all involved. And look at it this way: if the tx is in Edmonton at Christmas time, and (god forbid) your baby has UCD, you'll be close to term and in a good place with a knowledgeable team for delivery. (Always looking at the bright side of worst-case scenarios, that's me...)
If that was inappropriate, let me know, I'll delete it...

Sent out some Naked mail and a RAOK today. (Gwensmom: I thought about sending naked barbie dolls too but 'my' thrift store wanted too much for them).
Bought 12 cans of Glossy Black Krylon troday...I wonder if the Korean guy who owns the hardware store thinks I am a tagger or something.

1. I spent an entire hour in the craft store and left without buying anything!!! Hurrah! But I did pick out the yarn I want to knit a bag with, and I found some great papers to use for my handmade christmas cards this year, and I found a garland I want to decorate with once I get new curtains, and there were a couple of books I want to get when I have the money, and I've decided to try my hand at stamp carving, and oh the craft store is a dangerous place!

i told my ex-husband that he, his wife and their 2 year old could not stay in my house with me next week while my daughter was out of town and they're having their house painted...i made up a story about how the plumbing wasn't working all that well with the heavy rainfall and then stretched the truth a bit about the basement flooding. ^_^

technical things interest me in a way i cant explain. and i enjoy them untechnically. encyclopedias, dictionary, car repair manual, prescription drug pamphlets, phonebook, medical dictionary, bare html, etc. i find it so art-ful. all the little diagrams that go with this flavor fascinate me too.
my sister was in a car accident awhile ago and got a phone call from a man working for the car company. he was researching what happens when the car actually crashes. he explained he had a doll and little pins with notes on them, and he was going to ask her lots of questions and make the doll with what happened to her. she said it was very disturbing.

1. When I worked at the big name music chain that also rented movies we used to have to do inventory in the video department and EVERY year the boy managers would think it was funny to make me inventory the adult (XXX) section with a brand new shy boy employee.
2. I took it upon myself to organize, categorize and label the adult section by 'genre' (ie: all girls, S&M), making sure that the gay films were clearly labeled after quite a few unhappy customers.
3. The night before his last day at the store, one of the managers (who was one of my drinkin' buddies) mixed the adult and 'regular' films. He swaped Edward Scissorhands with Edward Penishands, When Harry Met Sally with When Harry Ate Sally etc...you get where I'm going.
This was my XXX workin' at The Wherehouse post

I'm awake, but still in bed...because it is Saturday and I am feeling lazy!
I am going for a run when I get up the energy to even get out of bed.
I am also going to make myself some rice.

my parents have all their windows open, which is lovely and breezy and cool, but it also gives me a wretched headache from the pollen.
i feel out of sorts.
i also feel rather guilty about a whopper i told my ex.

I am sad.

Taking a break from doing work around the yard.
Gruff is up a tree...again.
There are kittens in my barn. Anybody want a kitten?

I am at work right now.
That girl's laugh is very annoying.
My foot hurts.

I have no idea how these kittens got in my barn! They appear to be very young...and I have not seen a mother cat coming to take care of them! I had no cats in my barn before this (that I know of)...hmmmmmm
Maybe I should go out to buy kitten milk because they are having a hard time eating. I put out a plate of tuna, but they don't seem to know what to do...the poor things just lick and lick the tuna, but do not eat it!
Funny...I was contemplating getting a kitten from my girlfriend...and now I have 4.

Congrats, zanna!
- My graduation from highschool wasn't a particularly big ceremony.
- I have champagne cooling in the refrigerator.
- I have a cramp in my left biceps from holding stuff in the crook of my arm too long...

:yay: It's back...I was feeling so lost and disconected
I had a REALLY bizzare dream last night and sirius was in it. I was being paid to be on American Idol and she was somehow involved in it and we were driving around in her Porshe.
I always feel I have to explain to people why I am driving a P.O.S. car.

Gasp! I feel like I'm just coming up for air. Who would believe that I spent the majority of my day in the house without n-ness???
All these dreams about Sirius make me think of a book that came out a few years ago, when Clinton was the Prez. It was called Dreams of Bill. Apparantly, a lot more people had dreams about Clinton than any other president.
What is it about Sirius? Perhaps there should be a "Dreams of Sirius" LMAO.

yikes, amylyn. I hope you're doing okay!
I am getting up my courage to make a major break with someone I've been with for a long time, too.
It is hard even when it is what the heart wants one to do.

Congratulations, Theresa. That's one of the randomest facts I've ever seen.
My mother's car finally died a couple of weeks ago, and yesterday she bought a new one. A red Miata. Just like my father's red Miata. Nothing like being practical.
I've actually gotten a bit done today. But now the forums are back online, so so much for that.

i'm still laughing at myself after having been observed pronouncing the balcony muppets to be on crack. it made sense to say at the time.
and it's true. ;)
i'm listening to the community radio station here in portland, over the internet. it's been mexican/spanish programming for hours. i've been stoked.

One of my very best friends, who happens to be a serious minded patent attorney, bought a red miata --
that's when I knew he had an urge to write poetry and be in love...
I was right! :)

I wouldn't consider questioning you on such a matter.
Partly, of course, I wouldn't do so because this thread is for facts, not questions.

muppets on crack strikes me as absurb... I'm thinking they're on speed.

I think the "absurbs" are the bedroom communities so far from downtown that the commute takes almost as much time each day as the workday itself.
What a great typo. Self referential, and inventing a great new word to boot. Typos of that calibre achieve the status of accidental art.
I collect accidental art.
