Siafu, I will PM you re: human suffering. It's officially on my to-do list, right after putting super glue on GWB's toilet seat.

Kittymao, please direct all requests to the lord through PM. Paper trail required, see signature for details.

Speaking of requests, I actually have some free time today, anyone else.... send away!

RE: FightClub: Jesus was notified of this strange anomaly and this is precisely what I am here to deal with. The two miscreants that started that thread (a certain mpurr and namelessgirl, I believe?) will certainly be dealt with, as well as some of the more "lewd" players thus far. All in good time, my children, all in good time. I've got to get warmed up before I do any serious smiting. Don't want to rip a rotater cuff like last time.

I'll have to get back to you on that Tanagee. I'm not going to be seeing Allah again until this Friday, we're playing racquet ball and then going clubbin'.

I'm actually a pretty funny guy, but mostly it's a defense mechanism that I use to cope with the stress of my position.

I've had the feeling for quite some time that 1905 was a crucial year in modern history; now that I see that's when Jesus was born (according to His forum profile), it's pretty well confirmed.

It's useful to know Jesus has something in common with dragons.

I have a Bible that has a long appendix describing the biblical 'proofs' that the Second Coming is likely to occur in 1914.

I should really clean my apartment.

siafu
05-05-2004, 09:49 PM
no, i hadn't really explained it much. it's about human suffering within the context of tenebrae, which is an observation of Jesus' death. tenebrae is a lot like a funeral for Jesus. the book follows the extinguishing of the candles in the church as a metaphor of faith dimming or being restrained. one of the questions the book is about is what role suffering serves in human life.

i'm writing it in the first person because that's what i'm best at.

i've also been writing about oregon's gay marriage, but i feel the need to wait for a decision to come down from the oregon supreme court and the legislature.

I am making my mother a Scrabble board for Mother's Day. I've made and painted the board, and painted in all of the point squares. All of the "empty" squares are being filled in with 2cm X 2cm pictures of her children.

Now that I have gotten into the huge task of filling nearly 200 squares with little pictures it is feeling very egocentric as my mother only has two children, so it is about 100 pictures of my brother and a 100 of me.

Nothing to make you feel self-conscious like 100 different tiny pictures of you staring back at you....

I joined bookcrossing today. I'm el-bee on there and very excited about the whole thing.

I have been scared to come on Nness the last couple of days. I'm slipping away and I'm worried.

The funniest thing I saw today was a dog on television who was having a bath.

Well Lilac, I learned a little trick from a Voudoun down in Louisiana.... to ensure the productivity of your chickens, you must run around their coop, naked, 7 times, while clucking and waving your arms.

Let me know if it works!

She can still make it up from Gilroy to meet us Bay Area types sometime, if she wants.

we had another bomb threat at school today ..this time it was quite a big deal. all the high schools here in our city are under heavy gaurd today because of threats made for some students to bring guns to school and start shooting. :o

i wasn't even suppose to go to school today, but when i heard that everyone was being forced out of the school, i came anyway with my video camera in hand. we're now back in the school and it's 3rd period so i decided to come post about all the excitement.

bonus : also this morning this kid from our school was arrested for having 2 loaded shotguns while being pulled over for speeding on the way to school. talk about paranoia running high around here!

1. Yikes - that's scary! I'm glad you are ok Zanna! You remind me of Chloe on the show Smallville, bringing your video camera to school to catch all of the action on tape! :P

2. The biggest crisis I can recall when I attended my tiny school was when they would bring drug sniffing dogs in to search students' lockers. And of course there were occasional fights, but never anyone bringing weapons of any sort to school as far as I know.

3. I think there were only about 120 students in my graduating class.

zanna

yeah ..i'm never anywhere without my video camera ..you never know when it will come in handy.

the office and whole school is packed with parents trying to get their kids and take them home ..i swear, everyone's so paranoid. they've just made an announcement saying that no one is allowed to go to the office to call home or get an early dismissal. well that's just great.

Ha- I remember Columbine. I remember the day after, when I walked down the hall and PEOPLE MOVED for me and avoided eye contact. All us alternative kids were so CONFUSED by the sitaution, we all spent lunch together hoping no one would lash out at us.

On a seperate note, we did have several bomb scares, but nothing real- though there was the one tiem a Hairspray can exploded in a locker, that was pretty nuts.
We were more scared of gangs and shootings than anything.

uhm- I'm way more packed than I originally expected. I don't have much left now- mostly art stuff. And that will go on the last day cause I'm still in school. Which reminds me, I need to do some ATC's and stuff.

Uhm. There was a string quartet in the train station and they were playing so beautifully, they made me cry. Well... that and I wish I could still play with other people. Anyone need a Trumpet player for an ensemble? I can read sheet music.

Boomtown Rats "I don't Like Mondays" was on the radio this afternoon...very eerie coincidence with zanna's post today. (The song was on the "All Request Flashback Lunch" and if zanna was in L.A. and not Georgia I would have thought it wasn't a coincidence.)

I went to high school in the late 80's, I think times were still slightly more innocent then.

The biggest things to happen at my school were when there was a huge drug bust involving jr high kids, some adults and a bunch of kids at my school; and when a drunk old lady took out the sides of all the buses waiting outside the school.

What is a 'non-invitation'? We're getting married but we don't want you to come?

1. Going out for pedicures and drinks with a group of moms from my mom's group.

2. I used to ask my hubby to 'baby-sit' or 'watch' Megan, but I realized she's HIS kid too so I now say..."Can you he home so I can go out?"

3. My social anxiety is flaring up...I am trepidacious about this evening.

What is a 'non-invitation'? We're getting married but we don't want you to come?

oh it's my aunt being the baby that she is. We aren't talking, but for no particular reason. She's crazy ass stubborn. I didn't come back to her house 2 christmas's ago when I said I would. Oh look out... a pox on my house. Anyway she invites my mom. My mom thought it was strange that I didn't say anything about an invitation so she asks me about it today. I didn't get one. So she gets upset for me (and honestly I could care less) and calls my aunt to ask why I was invited. My aunt gives her this long sob story ending in, "I would have invited her but I know she won't come. Carol, it's really important to me that she (meaning me) be at my wedding." click. This is all so my aunt can hold it over my head for the rest of her life, and whine about it to all her followers, that I refused to go to her wedding. WASN'T INVITED!

And that's what I call a non invitation. Well a nonvitation... sounds better.

my family is full of drama queens.

I wonder where christine is.

Thinking about her because I'm thinking of shaving my head.

I'm helping at the Strawberry Festival parade tomorrow by walking alongside a trailer that's carrying the wrecked car of a young woman who was killed by a drunk driver. Her parents are hugely involved in drunk driving issues.

I wonder what everyone's doing for Mothers Day...

In one of my dreams the other night, a boy was throwing wadded up paper at the back of another boy in front of him - while the teachers back was turned - I totally fronted him out & yelled that he'd better stop that RIGHT NOW and STOP BULLYING him! I woke myself up...I've got bullying on the brain these days.

This evening, I washed my car.

It needed it.

Also this evening, while making dinner, I managed to knock a full wineglass and a full (open) winebottle onto the floor.

hammerquill
05-07-2004, 08:33 PM
The glass broke. Now I need another wineglass; I only had two.

The bottle didn't break (whew!) and only spilled a little.

The smash of the glass was so energetic, though, that the whole kitchen was splashed with wine, and until I cleaned it, it looked disturbingly like a Hollywood crime scene.

I have decided that McAfee AntiVirus is as bad as having a virus on my computer, in most respects. I finally had to uninstall the damn thing.

I have had a bit of a sore throat since last night, but no other cold/flu-like symptoms.

I had intended to go shopping this evening for ingrediments for something for my mother for mother's day, but I haven't fully settled what that something'll be.

I found three checks I had written to my dad (who is deceased). I kept them so I could look at where he endorsed it on the back. I also have some golf score cards he kept when he was teaching me to play golf. My dad was the best ever!

I have the bank statements from my mom opening the account when I was born in 1974.

Worse yet, if you stopped by I could get them for you in under 2 minutes because i know precisely where they are filed.

I thought about throwing them away last year, then I had the incredibly stupid {for those who do not like "stupid" used so loosely, please chose a more appropriate word of your choice} thought of "Hm, I've had them for thirty years it seems wrong to throw it away now..."

In all of my years of schooling (elementary, secondary, undergraduate, special certifications, now graduate school) I am currently in a group with the worst group participant I have ever had to share time with.

I was rude to her today, and I thought I'd feel bad, but I didn't. It felt good to verbalize her lack of contribution to the group.

It isn't only that she doesn't contribute, it is that she doesn't pay any attention and then calls to ask "What are we going to do about X?" When we had all, in a group already discussed and agreed to a decision. And, she literally interrupted an on topic dicussion to ask a participant about his car. Just started talking over the on topic stuff. I have a whole list of reasons she makes me want to scream.

If you are ever at the beach with Brian do not ask him to put sunblock on you.

I had a handprint on me forever ashe had rubbed up with his hand but didn't put any beside it, so i had an extremely clear handprint that was the unburnt area of my skin. Perhaps he was marking his territory.

The coffee table is coming along:

Those will be mounted vertically in large quoins supporting each end of the table.

The top will be glass.

I don't know what color to make the rest of the supports.

and I got to see these coffeetable pieces of hammerquill's and they are even better in real life...

I seem to have breathed back into myself this morning and found the point of balance on the distance beam...

but I had a long night.

i am out of town again next weekend, staying here. (http://www.hotelphillips.com)

this is going to fast forward some of my plans, but i am fairly ambivalent about that.

i've never stayed in a hotel this nice...i don't think i'll pack in one of my daughter's old backpacks this time. :)

3. I think that men's hands are one of the most attractive features they have. A man's hands can instantly attract or repel me.
I agree. Completely. Yes.

- I hope Sirius is OK... Not more trouble with that bad classmate?

- I'm looking forward to seeing the completed coffee table. :D

- :yay: :yay: :yay: for Robyn! And SUCH a cute face Harrison has...

1. That's great that Harrison's story is on the front page of the paper! He is so adorable. It's so hard to imagine him being sick since he looks so happy and healthy.

2. Speaking of healthy- I am not healthy today. I spent about 4 hours out in the yard on Saturday pulling weeds and raking. I think I am allergic to some of the weeds because I started coughing when I was pulling them out. By the end of the day my throat was really sore and my head was all stuffy and I just felt icky. Yesterday I was sick all day too.

3. I woke up this morning & still felt like crap so I actually called in sick to work. After calling in I checked my work voice mail and found out that one of my coworkers already called in, which meant I had to come in to work because I am the only other person who knows how to do her job. Ugh. So now I have to sit here for 8 hours all sick and miserable. Grr.

i pulled out an old mix cd someone made me from a trade like 3 years ago this morning.

it's refreshing to listen to stuff i had long forgotten about.

the first track caught me totally by surprise ..it's tom waits and allen ginsberg reading his poem 'america'. it was really strange ..i don't remember ever hearing the track when i used to listen to the cd, but just a few weeks ago my friend introduced me to allen ginsberg's work and i absolutely love it. what a very nice surprise. i'll have to let my friend hear it.

- I haven't eaten anything much worth mentioning, either.

1. She will be, she is suffering from "Murphy's Law" "When it rains it pours" and all the other euphemisms and cliches for "when one sucky thing happens, several sucky things like to jump on board and attempt to make things as miserable as possible."

2. ...but I am a cheerful optimist....so I know everything will turn out fine, dandy and peachy-keen.

3. I am also impatient so I wish that optimist future would start ten minutes ago...

and they suck when you do! ;)

and they suck when they wrap you up in their claws and keep you from seeing past them...

but having conquered a whole mess of them this weekend, I am blocking those bad blues from my emotional computer...

only good blues need whisper in my head.

I am sitting in the doctor's office again, tooling around on my friend's laptop, waiting -- always waiting for some test, question, hypothesis or result...

I just read the most chimerical letter from siafu! Which made me feel less alone sitting in this room with year old magazines and charts of the throat up on the walls...

I am somewhere between annoyed and frazzled -- with a detour into contentment getting siafu's letter -- wishing for a resolution to the neck riddle.
