1 the lip swelling thing seems to have gone away as mysteriously as it appeared... bizarre...

2 after a week of being quite socially busy, it's strange not having concrete plans today... (there is a possibility of going to a movie, but not sure)

3 chicken stir fry for lunch... made it for my sister a few days ago, but she hasn't had time to stop and eat it, so i'm going to eat it before it goes off.

I found two more Japanese maple seedlings in my backyard today and put them into pots before Gwensdad mows over them.

I am trying not to laugh about the rabbit cage incident. Lilac you need a day off. Can you take one?

Random Las Vegas News

Great Hammerhead Shark at the Mandalay Shark Reef is the first ever to be displayed in an aquarium in the United States.

The works of French impressionist Claude Monet will be on display at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art. On loan from the Museum of Fine Art, Boston, the Monet exhibition is open from 9 am to 9 pm daily.

Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino owners Tim Porter and Tom Breitling recently re-dedicated the famous hotel-casino with a grand, "old Vegas style" celebration. Porter and Breitling have committed to take the Golden Nugget to the "next level" with a blend of gaming, dining and entertainment unique to downtown Las Vegas.

1: my sister called me today with a surprise... and she forwarded this email to me:

"Subject: 1st Annual Mothers Day BBQ

You are invited!

The guys at the Contact Centre are hosting a BBQ in honour of the ladies
for Mother's Day.

The event is being held next Thursday, May 6th at the back of our building
at 2151 Scarth Street starting at noon.

We will be serving hamburgers, hot-dogs, smokies, non-alcoholic beverages
and various desserts. We are charging $3.00 to cover the costs and anything
we make will be donated to the Harrison Larter Charity. The posters for his
fund-raiser are located throughout the building, if you would like more
information. We will also be accepting donation for this worthy cause at the
BBQ.

Sign up sheets will be located throughout the building and we please ask
that you sign up by Tuesday May 4th so we can ensure we have enough food.
Thanks and we'll see you there."

When my sister and I were little we colored our Siamese cat with marker pens. She was beautiful shades of blue and aqua and red. I seem to remember that we did this while mom was on the phone.

At various points in time, while mom was on the phone, we also unrolled an entire roll of toilet paper into the tub and put the cat into the tub.

Then there was the time we tore up an entire loaf of white bread and threw it around the kitchen pretending it was snowing. Mom was asleep then.

Bonus moral: mothers should never shower, sleep, or talk on the phone.

Ooh. Can I borrow your books when you're done reading them? ;)

That reminds me of a scene in the book Henderson the Rain King - the only scene from that book that made an impression on me. The narrator's father, a rich man, had made a habit of using cash as bookmarks, and after his death, the son locked himself in the library and opened the books one after another, raining currency onto the floor.

This is, curiously, the second time that story has come to mind lately.

I think The Quest for the Perfect Bookmark would make a good LMAO.

2. Yeah, Delilah is one lucky girl! Cory & I are such bad doggy parents for leaving things out that she could get into but they were on a table in a place that she normally doesn't bother, so you never can tell what she might get into and when. Usually she just likes to eat socks. I would have never forgiven myself if she did get seriously hurt so I was so relieved to see that there weren't any cuts in her mouth, I don't know how she managed that!

In that 4 years between meeting and that final cigarette; I tapered off, then quit cold turkey, would relapse and buy a pack, and have a cigarette of two when out with friends who smoked.

He says pot is not as bad as cigarettes, but I read 1 joint is equal to 1 pack of cigs in terms of tar.

I smoked when I was a surly teen and early 20-something, although never very much. Now I have asthma and wonder if it was because both my parents smoked while I was growing up.

I quit smoking at 25 because I just started to find it disgusting. However, sometimes if I'm watching a movie or TV show where everyone is smoking, I feel the urge for a cigarette.

Pot is a lot worse for your lungs than cigarette smoke, although it doesn't have nicotine and is less addictive. Most people don't smoke pot at the same rate as cigarettes, though.

http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_15_11.gif poor Harrison!!

It's funny, when I was a teenager and early 20's I had contempt for smokers. Then one night while out drinking I bummed a smoke off of someone and felt all my stress melt away, so I bought a pack...then another until I was buying them by the carton.

My mom had no idea I smoked until recently.
a) She still believed "I hung out with Jason and he was smoking" as to why I smelled of smoke.
b ) I didn't live at home so that was why she didn't know.

I used to go out drinking 5 days out of the week so I think that contributed to my pack-a-day habit too.

I'm sad, I'm angry (at myself as well as him)...

I feel he is just NOT the right one and I should have let go of him a LONG time ago.

What might be hated is the reality that we cannot find ourselves in those we love...

That we run up against a concrete wall sometimes and cannot get through...

When I took Gwen to get her hair cut yesterday all the stylists were saying that people were asking for perms again.

I knew big hair would come back. It seems that current styles are always based on what was popular 20 years ago and the 80's were 20 years ago.

I'm not getting big hair. My rule of fashion is that if you wore it the first time around, you don't have to do it again.

all is well in my love life, so I can't complain,

but the fact that I get lonely and blue for my nervous friends makes me a little uncmforatble

1: it's a fact. the queen of england doesn't know her abc's anymore. she's old.

2: it's a fact. when I was a little girl, if a child was born with red hair, she was considered irreparably evil and drowned as a witch.

3: it's a fact. you can get blood from a stone. you just have to throw it hard enough. it's a fact.

i'm in a kids in the hall kind of mood... :D
3: it's a fact.

It's a fact that I have blue eyes, too

It's a fact that I am home from school for "lunch", but I am actually not eating...

It's a fact that I am going in for a talk with my doctor today -- and I'm sort of nervous.

1. That reminds me of another hair story. My mom is a redhead and when she was born my aunt's (who were about 7 & 8 years old at the time and both had white blonde hair) said she was gross and they wanted to "give her back." My nana would make them take her for a walk in the carriage around the neighborhood but my Aunt Joanne refused to do so unless they covered my mom's head with a bonnet so no one could see her "ugly" red hair.

2. Tomorrow I'm going shopping with my sister for a mother's day present. I have no clue what to buy.

3. I hope bluecrayon's talk with the doctor goes well. Hopefully she will be able to walk out of the doctor's office breating a sigh of relief.

Gwen knows what a spoon is for! Yesterday at school they were using big spoons to put dirt over seeds they were planting. When she saw the spoon she started opening her mouth and drooling a little. I had no idea.

The first of my siberian iris bloomed today :yay: It is soooooooo gorgeous. When more of them open I will take a pic an put it in the spring loveliness thread. I just love iris- seeing them makes me all melty inside.

1 today is rainy and balmy

2 my sister straightened my hair (naturally it's technically straight, but not dead-straight, it kinda waves randomly)

3 i wish it would curl or straighten, entirely, on demand... it's long, and thick and doesn't hold real curl well...

1: hurrah for gwen!!! i always like to hear about things like that, sarah!!! :) good girl!!! (gwen, not you... well, i am sure you are a good girl too, but.... ;))

2: i just altered an altoid tin... i dont 'know what to do with it now....

3: and i am altering a journal too... it was 3 bucks at michael's- plain and white... perfect!!!

4: when i shop at michael's, i head right to the clearance aisles instead of 'shopping'.... what's the point?- i always end up browsing in the clearance aisles last and putting half my stuff back for the same/similar thing in the clearance aisle!!! :D

I recieved a box with Chocolates in it from Siafu!! Unfortnately my mail comes at around 11 and they sat on the front lawn in the sun until 3:30 so I now have little smooshy foil packets of Ghiradelli goodness

I put them in the freezer.

Megan had her shot and she is not as traumatized as I thought she would be...and I was wrong it is Hep A not C. She has to get another one in 6 months.

fact: if you have chemically straightened your hair DO NOT use thermal irons (curling, straighting, crimping), to do so causes breakage (it'll perma-fry your hair).

fact: the direction of a hair as it projects out of the follicle deterimes a person's hair shape (straight, wavy, curly)

fact: as hair grows out is assumes the shape, size and curve of the follicle.
