First of all...here's a friendly slap along the side of the head for Curlita for getting the lyrics to You Can't Hurry Love stuck in my head for what will probably be the rest of the day! :P

1. Hee hee! Well, it backfired on me because now I've got it stuck in my head too.

2. And Neil Diamond. And I am embarrassed about neither.

2. I like Neil Diamond too. And I like Super Diamond, the Neil Diamond cover band.

3. I am now at work. Kinko's screwed up the newsletter order so now I can't mail it until tomorrow.

4. It's also cold and rainy out, not like yesterday.

5. I didn't sleep well last night and I'm very draggy. I need to go to the store to get some half-caf coffee (my once-a-week treat) and some bottled water. Cause I left my water at home.

6. Today I came in and found an e-mail forwarded from a volunteer. It was my former assistant (who I fired b/c she was worthless) saying she plans to come on our volunteer appreciation outing. Ummm, no, don't think so.

I also had a terrible Labor experience, Tanagee. I was induced 3 weeks early because my bloodpressure had skyrocketed and was in labor for 36 straight hours! When they first started the drug, the pains were not too bad. I was thinking to myself "Hey...I CAN do this!" Down the hall, there was a poor woman screaming "OH MARY MOTHER OF GOD, PLEASE HELP ME...AARHHHHHHHHHHHH". I told my nurse to close my door (I didnt want to hear this WIMP crying out in pain when I JUST KNEW it wasnt so bad!) About 5 hours later, however, i was in the same position. Since I'm not a Catholic, I wasnt screaming "Oh Mary Mother of God"...I was screaming "PLEASE JUST GIVE ME A CEASEREEEEEEEEEAN"

Then came the epidural. It temporarily ended my pains, but for some unexplained reason...I continuously passed gas! Big suckers, too! It was so embarrassing! Everytime a nurse or doctor would feel to see how far I was dilating, I'd rip one off in his or her face! I was utterly humiliated by this. I apologized profusely.

After labor was ended and I was happily holding my newborn son, my then Hubby says to me "You pooped on the table." And people ASK why I divorced this man!!!!

1. Yikes! You guys are making me scared to have kids someday!!

2. Too bad all of you N'ness people with kids don't live nearby. I would babysit for free! :)

3. I need to go to the grocery store tonight to buy some Carnation Instant Breakfast. I am going to use it to make "healthy" shakes & smoothies in my new blender. I found a recipe for a chocolate & peanut butter shake which is probably not so healthy but I bet it tastes pretty damn good.

Oh, and here's one more little tidbit from my labor experience.

When I was in the middle of pushing...laying on the table buck naked, legs spread...my mother and sister come strolling into the room, as if nothing was happening...just strolling on in as if we're all going to sit around and have a cup of coffee.

I became possessed with what would appear to have been the same demon that possessed poor Regan in "The Exorcist." My head spun around and I screeched at them in a voice that was definately NOT my own, "THIS IS NOT A F*CKING PEEP SHOW!!!! GET OUT!!!!!!!!"

random Bunny facts-

Bunnies live 10 to 12 years. And they can be house trained.

Rabbits have to be fixed in the winter. In the summer they can become infested with maggots and die within days.

bunnies have weak spinal colums. Handle them in a way so they do not kick or squirm, as their thrashing can break their own backs.

1. I am home much earlier than I thought I would be today, and now I don't have much to do.

2. I miss the Boy... he didn't go to his Stats class, so my feeble attempts at stalking him were not effective. I think he may be at the dentist.

3. Tomorrow I expect to be at school for twelve hours. Maybe I will see the Boy at lunch...

4. I will be at school for 14 hours on Thursday; the Boy has promised me a back massage when I get home, and I plan to make sure I get it. That promise may be the only thing that convinces me I have a reason to live after the first four hours or so of presentations. I need to convince him to come pick me up from school.

1. When I was in 5th grade my sister and I got bunnies for Easter. I had a boy rabbit named Ebony and Michelle had a beige one named Charlotte. Ebony lived to be 15 or something.

2. When they were mature we put them together and they got it on. They had 8 babies and they were so cute. We gave them away.

3. Every once in a while we recite the names we gave all of them: Runt, Panda Bunny, Patches, Marshmallow Foot, Honey Bunny, Caramel, Chocolate and Ashes.

Bouns 4: I would love to have a rabbit again, but my husband is not very interested. He and his first wife had a huge python and they used to feed it a rabbit every month, so I think he has a different experience with rabbits than I do.

1. I'm not entirely shure. Burmese rings a bell, but that can't be right, can it? I never actually "met" the python because the ex-wife got custody. My husband got the dogs. I asked him once if he missed Uther (the snake) and he looked at me funny and said, "Well, not really. I mean, he was a *snake.*"

2. He had some good stories about the snake getting lost in a closet for a year, etc. And they used to keep it in the room that is now our guest room, so if folks came to stay, they got to sleep in the room with the snake. My M-I-L was not happy about this situation.

3. I don't mind snakes, but am not sorry that the Ex got custody. I think Uther was like 11 feet long or something. That's a whole lotta snake.

1: another sleepless night.. s'okay because it took the freaking ER till 330 am to get the ammonia results back to us..... (blood was drawn at 1030)... they 'lost' the papers... and they told me 'the ammonia was normal, dont' worry'.... so i told them 'i'm not worried, but i need a number for his dietician and for his file....' so they had to get ahold of the lab and get them to fax it again........ always a runaround, without exception ALWAYS.

2: after harrison has his transplant, we can go to any lab in the city to get his bloodwork done... we have to use the general hospital for the ammonia as they are the only facility in the city with the equipment to do the ammonia testing... we dont' have to have his ammonia levels done once he's tranplanted, but tehre is otehr frequent bloodwork... that's fine, we can go to any MDS lab and get it done, and find a place where they are competent, instead of muddling along with the useless staff at the general hospital!!!!!!! like we have been doing for over a year... with no improvement.... <_<

3: the worker from the ECIP program (early childhood intervention program) came today to meet with harrison for the first time... he took to her nicely, i think becuse she may have been a new person, but she was in HIS environment, instead of a place where he associates new people with pain (the hospital)... she's nice, i liked her.... she is pregnant and we'll be getting new worker in july.... :(

4: it's a conspiracy against me, sending a pregnant woman to invade my hide-from-having-to-see-pregnnt-women-and-get-sad sanctuary....... <sigh> oh well.. waht can we do.....

When a good friend of mine had her baby she was lying on the bed/table nursing the baby, not really paying attention while the Dr was closing up the episiotomy, her legs up in sirrups, and everyone else was out of the room. She looks up and there, staring at her crotch is her x-husbands father. She barely knew the man because the husband had been raised by his step-father. She was stunned, luckily her mom (who is a 4' 11" Samoan woman) walked in and was like "Hey get the hell out of here!"

The second night I was in the hospital after Megan was born my SIL shows up at like 9pm with her foreign exchange student boarder in tow. I am tryng to nurse Megan and was having a really hard time and there is this Japanese girl I don't even know staring at me!! I was sweaty, exhausted, in a lot of pain and trying to be a 'good hostess' because my SIL had driven an hour to come see us, but I so wanted to tell them all to leave.

Even after all of the trauma, I still want another baby.

2. OhPossum - do what I do, adopt denial. "That will NEVER happen to me!" You can also create a list of people who are and are not allowed in the room while you're delivering, etc. I don't think it has to be an open house.

3. My sister is in charge of making sure everyone sticks to my birth plan, and she's a sight to behold when she puts on her big girl shoes (her term for standing up to people). Anyone who wants a birthing center bouncer can request her presence. She rocks.

1. Good, Nymphette is now my partner in posting more than 3 random facts crime. ;) Hehee

2. Dammit. Everytime I go to the bathroom here at work there is someone in one of the other stalls, and you can tell they are in the middle of doing their poopies when I come in so then they sit there and hold it which puts the pressure on for me to pee as fast as I can and get out of there, but then I freeze up and I can't go so then I just have to leave the stall, wash my hands and leave without going pee. Agh. That has happened to me twice in the past two days.

3. I made a chocolate shake with Carnation Instant Breakfast last night. It was good. I can't wait to go home so I can have another one

Okay...well I'm going to the doctor. Since it's been just a little over a year that I've had my kidney transplant, he INSISTED that I come in. Damn.

I also got a good tongue lashing from him when I called. He told me that I am the exact opposite of a hypocondriac. That I'm not as tough as I think.

I think I am pretty tough...except for this flu thing. Throwing up turns me into a baby.

OHpossum gave me some great April fool's day pranks to play on my son! Thanks!!!!!

I was thinking about doing this (below)...tell me if you think it is too sadistic.

I bought one of those travel cup containers of M&M's. I NEVER EVER have candy in the house, so when he sees this thing sitting on the kitchen counter, he's going to dive right in. Thing is, I've removed the M&M's and replaced them with a dead mouse. Ok, so I know this is really mean and demented...but I figure the kid will be in therapy because of me when he grows up anyhow...might as well give him some REALLY good things to talk about!!!!!

OHPossum

a real live dead mouse is definitey sadistic for a 10 year old

real live is an oxymoron.

something like dog food might be funny?

1. Ha! I just remembered that Cory left me a "surprise" this morning. I came downstairs to find a suggestively place banana and two kiwis with a note that said "Look! I made you breakfast" He's such a dork.

2. I want to give someone a fake tattoo, with a Sharpie.

3. I hope my boobs don't get even bigger when I have babies in the future! I can barely find bras that fit me now. Eeek.

edited to say:

I wonder where Lilac got a dead mouse from?!

Lilac

Ok, well MAYBE I'll do dogfood instead.

I think I get this slightly sadistic twist naturally, from my father. He was always pulling bad-humoured pranks on my sister and I.

Like the time she shot a deer (my sis and I were about 7), painted it's nose red and told us that he had shot Rudolph.

*edited to tell SarahKate that Blackdog caught it and killed it out by the barn awhile ago.

Lilac

Lilac's Dad is actually pretty harmless.

It's HIS dad who was the terror, in a good sort of way. He was something else! He played electric guitar in Hank Williams Sr. band...raised Palominos...drove an old 1940 something truck up until the day he died (and he kept that bugger in tip top condition)...could play absolutely any musical instrument by ear....

But he never painted a deer's nose red.

ummm...just so you know...you can't embosss with a heat gun on mylar. the mylar melts.

so far i can't emboss on regular paper yet either. how hard can it be. it just has to be super inky so it will hold the powder.

i might have to go to atlanta for five weeks. that's a long time.

OHPossum
04-01-2004, 02:46 PM

use pigment ink, or chalk ink, not dye ink which dries too quickly.

1. All this talk of boobs reminds me: When I was in high school my aunt and cousin from California were visiting us. I was standing there and my cousin (who was probably about 6 years old at the time) reached up and honked my boob and said "i love your booties" Now my boyfriend calls her "the booties girl" anytime I mention her.

2. I am rather amazed at how comfortable some people are with their own bodies and being nude in front of other people. I'm not one of them. I am not in any way offended by nudity, I myself just don't like being nekkid.

3. I once had a teacher who had a third nipple (she said it was tiny though) in her armpit. She could actually squeeze milk out of it when she was nursing her children. Ewww.

OHPossum

2. It really bothers me when you send people a Q&A on the main site, and they don't seem to be answering so you go look at their page and see that they have answered a question AFTER yours but skipped yours. Grrr. And all I was doing was being nice and asking someone if they wanted some Fbs/Deco's. All they needed to say was YES or NO.

1. I had to log on to the forums at almost 11:00 PM because I had to publically announce that I'm a jerk. I shouldn't have been so angry about the above quoted situation because I just checked my email to discover that the person I was miffed with actually emailed me late last night rather than answering the Q on the page. Doy! I should really get all the facts straight before I open my mouth (or type in this case).

2. gwensmom's write ins are great! I only included one write in that I recall and that was "most frequently changed forum avatar" going to none other than cdonley!! Though, lately she has had the same one up there, but for a while it seemed like she had a new spiffy avatar every other day! :P

3. I decided in December that I didn't want to eat ground beef anymore, so I haven't had any since then. So tonight I tried a Boca Burger and it was pretty good! I have had GardenBurgers before and I didn't like those so much but the Boca Burgers I had were actually very similar to a regular hamburger. Yay! Something new for me to eat.

Edited to say: Gwensmom - maybe they didn't use the write ins because there really wouldn't be anything to vote for since you are probably the only one who came up with those specific categories, so they will probably just include them in the final results, since whatever you write in will definitley "win" since it has no competition, ya know? :)

1. I'm trying to worry less about the future and live more in the moment.

2. I had some good moment-livin' last night.

3. Enough good moments to let me live in the past until I see 'im again.

1. I'm actually at school right now, but I'm way too late for first class to bother going, and so I have to wait for second class.

2. I'm wearing sandles for the first time today. The projected high is +11*C, but mostly I was tired of socks.

3. I want a nap. It's 9 am, and I want a nap. Why did I fall for a night owl?

1. The Boy informed me last night that he has "the world's cutest dimples". His co-workers at BK informed him of this when he was 16.

2. I should really bring the pic I have of us from the formal and scan it and post it... maybe someday I'll remember.

3. I almost had my concentration back before last night... I'm going to need to get it back before finals in ten days... and he needs his more than I need mine if he's to pass his classes.

1. I don't ususally serial post here, but I'm a little loopy off endorphins and lack of sleep.

2. I am a living contradiction.

3. I think it's time to wander off, hole punch my notes, and wait patiently for my class to start. I don't like this class... stupid no text class with no website. Bah.

3 1/2. I'm still smiling, despite the looming next class.

1. I'm not quite ready to leave yet.

2. In the next 30 days, I need to acquire a place to live and a car.

3. Those aren't the things that scare me right now.

1. Wow. That's just wrong! This thread is too cool to go unbumped for so long! :(

2. I am super extra busy today at work because once again my coworker called in sick so I have to do all of her work. Grrrr.

3. Well, I don't really have anything to say at the moment. I just wanted to share with Alison my sadness that this thread has been so lonely today!

-1- I just logged myself out and logged back in without being an anonymous user. I don't know why I was hiding, anyway. But I don't want gwensmom to always think that the anonymous users are me anymore!

-2- I got my special edition Freaks & Geeks DVD set in the mail on Monday. It's so awesome. Chris and I are so excited about having all 18 episodes with no commercials and with wonderful picture-quality and sound.

-3- My friends' kitty-cat has diabetes and now he has to get an insulin shot every day. Before he got diagnosed, he was wandering from water-dish to water-dish and meowing a lot because his thirst would not get quenched no matter how much he drank. Also, he drank so much that he was peeing on the furniture. I think that is so sad, and I am glad the insulin is making him feel better.

1. We are almost done my lab write up and then I can go home if I want to.

2. I want to go home... but I want to swing thru the lounge and see if the Boy is there, and possibly stick around for Bible study in half an hour.

3. I still need a nap.

I'm glad to see GWLS here.

I am finally done with Volunteer Awards Night! Now I need to clean off my desk, take down an exhibit, and get ready for my new admin assistant who starts next week.

I am wearing my kicky new capri pants today.

-1- I am getting really good at copy-cataloging.

-2- My new boss starts on Monday.

-3- My brother and sister-in-law came back from their honeymoon in Hawaii yesterday but I haven't heard from them yet.

i went to the doctor early this morning so the doctor could confirm to the bar that i am indeed handicapped. when i announced myself to the receptionist, she said, you're not on the appointment list. are you here as a colleague? that was so respectful and so full of no assumptions that i was honored enough for the rest of my life. whenever someone assumes that i am not able, i will remember that respectful lady and i will be encouraged.

i am making progress on my art doll. i have decided to make the skeleton out of wire. but i have no wire. i may try twist ties, but i don't know how they will bake.

i had starbucks today. there was a bagel but it was a hawaiian bread bagel. i think i would like to try making it at home.

shards of reality pinging my mind today.

somehow I know my feet remember how to move...

and the door is still where it's always been, so I'm thinking I'm about to reach it.

but then what????

Theresa's post makes me think about how the internet is in some ways the great equalizer... we can all talk and learn from each other, judgement free. It's sad that you've come to expect other people's reduced expectations of you... I'm glad that you had a positive thing happen today, though!

I just finished doing all my husband's birthday shopping from the computer. It took about 10 minutes. Whoo hoo!

I bought another turkey reuben for lunch today. Seriously considering naming the baby Reuben.

I am here for therapy today and it helps to read everyone's comments...

I am locked in a place where I can't talk to anyone in my "real" world about my very private world...

but here I can run around naked and not have fear about it!

I bought my son an adorable mini rex bunny for easter. She's soooo cute...all black with fuzzy grey paws and a white diamond shape on her nose.

My dogs are going insane because of this new addition to the household.

My son has named her "Carrot"....I was hoping for something a little more imaginative...but I guess Carrot is okay.

2- I agree w/ Curly re: Siafu's post re: disabilities
3- but I am still really bad at assuming. I always assume everyone online is a white lesbian in her early 30's who has anxiety and AD/HD and wants kids and loves books and cowgirls. Until told otherwise.

and I assume everyone here is together and happy and spinning through life like dervishes -- and wildly in love, and more interesting than I will ever be -- until told otherwise -- which is where 3 random facts comes in.

Living in San Francisco for as long as I have, I never assume anything about anyone's gender or sexual preference.

I'm a little more foggy about age, though -- I think everyone is 19! :D

1- I assume everyone is fighting demons all the time

2- I assume most people are just better than others about hiding that fact

3- I want to have a spring fling at our house but I am afraid no one would come (besides you guys!)

Why are you feeling guilty about my reubens? I'm not feeling guilty about my reubens. I am enjoying my reubens. They are tasty and the baby wants the sauerkraut. He told me. Please, revel in my reubens.

I think that assuming everyone here is pretty much like you is better than assuming that everyone here is so different from you that you cannot relate. Know what I mean? Since we meet and greet in cyberspace, we don't judge each other by appearance, clothing, social circle, car, who we are standing next to, the house we live in, etc. So your assumption that everyone is pretty much like you and that you have commonalities seems pretty harmless.

Suspect that what I'm saying makes no sense to anyone but me. Going to read the article on placenta brain.

1- I feel guilty because I can't imagine it's good for Jr. (heartburn or something? what do I know)

2- I assume everyone is exaclty like me because otherwise I get way too insecure that they will reject me

3- I am still the most self loathing homophobe in the world on some days.

1. Rest easy, Possum. So far no heartburn. It's just bread, cheese, turkey, mustard, kraut and some 1,000 island. Lotsa protein (good for Jr), not as much sodium cause I don't get corned beef, calcium in the swiss cheese, and vitamin C and fiber in the kraut. And let me tell you, fiber is a gal's best friend when you are pregnant.

2. Getting started at n-ness was nervewracking (har har, unintended pun) because the process at that time was "get to know people, get them to like you, get them to invite you to join the secret club.
