I joined the gym today...I may have already said that...but, I'm not there...my daughter that just had 3 hour basketball practice is at the gym now and I'm at home...hmmm, how pathetic is that?

1. This is officially the most depressing time of the year: cold weather, snow and grey, dark, too much schoolwork, too much groupwork, and V-Day. Blah.

2. I need to make some anti-V-Day alternate plans. I'm leaning toward watching violent movies and drinking too much wine.

2. I swear to God if one of you tries to tell me that V-Day can be about friendship and all kinds of love, I will punch you in the nose.

3. Sometimes I think I am far too bitter for someone my age. The only thing that saves me is a complete willingness (and desire) to be proven wrong.

It was an ATC and probably not at all intended to be a Valentine but it made it into my window...hey, when you're single and grasping at straws, anything...even junk mail that comes within 20 days of Valentine's Day is a Valentine (bills don't count...they're anti-Valentine)

-1- UMBC is open, but they gave us "liberal leave," so I took a personal day. I am scared to drive in the ice, especially since it's supposed to rain ice all day.

-2- Miss Marley and I just watched The Pet Psychic (http://animal.discovery.com/fansites/petpsychic/petpsychic.html) on Animal Planet. I got all teary-eyed when she said those snakes were sad, and those chimps had been chained up by their legs. I tried to change the channel and Miss Marley bit my hand. Bad kitty!

2. I think I will have to make a trip to the vending machine any minute but my choices there are limited to candy or potato chips for the most part, which I probably shouldn't be eating for breakfast.

3. Another day goes by that I am jealous of Heather. I want my employer to give us "liberal leave" because of the snow, but they never will despite the fact that we are supposed to be getting anywhere from 7 to 14" of snow by tonight. <_<

when i was a girl guide, we always got our cookie sale sheets and stuff a couple of months at least before the cookies themselves arrived.
The idea was we went out, took orders, brought the orders back, then waited for the cookies to arrive, then went back and delivered the orders and took payments a couple months after taking orders. I think cookies usually arrived in april... that is, the vanilla and chocolate ones. The mint-chocolate ones were November i think... in time for christmas anyway.

1. For some reason, I keep a wide variety of things to drink on hand even though most days I go for iced tea, water, or diet coke. I have 3 varieties of cocoa; coffee; herbal tea, green tea and black tea; chai mix, hot cider mix, milk, juice, instant cappucino, and a can of general foods international french vanilla coffee. Oh. And I always have plain yogurt on hand for when I feel like having a smoothie. Not much alcohol in the house though. Just a bottle of Khalua I got as a gift and a bottle of white wine I use for cooking.

2. No one who peers in my fridge actually believes that big jug of wine is for cooking.

3. Given my family history of alcoholism, its probably a good thing I never developed a taste for the stuff.

1. My husband has still not received his financial aid money. We are not happy.

2. The school has his check but is refusing to give it him because he missed a few classes last week. So this money is most likely accruing interest in the school's bank account. It is also accruing interest that my husband must pay back, as it is a loan.

3. He is doing some research online at the moment, as we are fairly sure that this is not exactly legal. There's something fishy about the whole operation. And I'm not exactly sure how the school expects him to show up to class everyday in the snow, with holes in his shoes. He need the stupid money so he can afford to go to school...isn't that the point?

-1- In 11th grade geometry, Mr. Kemick hit Michelle P. with a desk.

-2- He was a first year teacher, and he hit Michelle with a desk because she laughed when the principal got on the intercom and said, "Please pray for Ms. Cronin's grandson, who was just gored by a goat."

-3- I think it was just a nervous laugh, on Michelle's part. I don't think she really thought it was funny that a little kid got hurt.

ETA: Michelle wasn't badly hurt by the desk-throwing.

1. I have never worn a scarf. I have tried them on in stores, but I have never actually owned one. I don't have anything against them and I think they look nice on other people, so I don't know why I have never worn one.

2. I wonder if I am the only person who, every once in a while, looks at a very common word and doesn't recognize it. For example today I was reading a blog, and the person was writing about "Sex and the city" and for a second I actually didn't recognize the word sex! I don't know if it's because I didn't expect this person to have the word sex in their blog, or if I was thinking of something similar like "six" but I just looked at sex for a minute and was confused, I thought the person made a typo and I had to think about what the letter s-e-x spelled and meant. It's kind of scary when this happens. Am I crazy? I think I might be! What is wrong with me??!

2. The things I remember most about Captain Kangaroo are Picture Pages w/Bill Cosby, and Mr. Good-Body.

3. Mr. Good-Body had curly hair and wore a creepy unitard with drawings of his internal organs on it.

4. Picture Pages had a very cool song and a magic-marker that made a neat noise.

Dispite all this my parents were very active in the PTA and booster club (there were more pictures of my parents in my yearbooks than there were of ME)

I spent time today running around the City and stopping in at the Tourist traps, looking for the PhotoBooths that spit out the 4-pic pictures on the real photo paper. Stupid city only has the cruddy paper sketch ones that look like pics pumped through a Photoshop Filter. If anyone knows where I can find one in SF, let me know!

I have an hour until my next class and a bag of cookies and a can of tea to sate me. Eek! I will have to raid the vending mahcine- though I am not appetized by anything in it.

1. in biological anthropology last year we did a lab where we had to stick a finger in a beaker of snow for 15 minutes (each minute measuring its temperature), to discover if we had a genetic trait (and i forget what it was called, i'll have to look it up) that meant we were "cold adapted".

-1- I had all four wisdom teeth removed at once, and with only novacaine, in 1994. It was no big deal at all.

-2- My best friend had two wisdom teeth extracted by an oral surgeon, and she got nitrous oxide, and she had many complications.

-3- One of her complications is rather amusing: a few days after her surgery, she had horrible pain in her cheek and gums on one side of her face. She went back to the oral surgeon, who probed around in there. He asked her, "Do you like grape bubble gum?" She was a little puzzled, and replied, "Uhh, yeah, I guess so." Turns out she had been "chewing" gum right after her surgery (because she wanted to get a yucky taste out of her mouth) and had fallen asleep with it in her mouth, and the wounds closed up around the gum. Gross! But funny.

Bonus fact: Heather thinks that Sarahkate should cowgirl up and just go to the dentist. Chronic mouth pain isn't worth avoiding a slightly unpleasant experience.

What a fun idea....

1> I currently hate my Great Danes. The day before yesterday, they went nuts, tore through the back of their pen and killed my two new baby lambs and a 6 moth old ram. Then, while I was in the pen, they attacked my ewe, Minnie the Moocher. I beat them with my fists trying to get them off her, then managed to grab a big stick and beat them off. As soon as they were back in their repaired pen, they acted like the sweet dogs they have always been. I feel very betrayed. I know they're animals, and act instinctively, but I never thought they'd do anything like this. I don't know if I'll ever trust them again, even though they act sorry.... Whew. Dumb dogs.

2> I like to run with my arms out and make airplane noises. Even in public. I can't control it.

3> I talk to myself. I mean, conversations and debates. Surely I'm not the only one?

I went to the gym tonight

I am feeling slightly down

I had a parent tell her child today that she didn't f-in (except she used the word) love him enough to deal with him anymore and that she was going to have the state gome and take him away tonight among so many other terrible things...it really crushed me, hence leading to a super, duper bad day that has made me sad

I got to talk to luckythirteenxxx tonight

I am drinking a little too much wine- but it is a good one- tonight

I want to adopt the little boy that freckledcutie just mentioned, and smack his mother in the mouth for being so callous and shitty.

Lately I've been dreaming that I'm traveling around Europe with three of my friends... but I'm spending the whole time worrying about making train connections, etc.

I want some hot chocolate. I have been a chocolate fiend lately.

I was thinking about watching a movie and crafting or knitting, but now it is too late. Maybe I will crawl in bed with my book.

Bonus #4
This is the LAST NIGHT I will need to sit at home alone while my husband is schlepping around at work until midnight! He'll be home early tomorrow and he starts a new job on Monday.

I wish I could go to work in my pajamas. And slippers

1. At my job we really push the idea of casual fridays because we ARE allowed to wear pajamas on that day so long as they conform to the dress code (nothing shorter than mid-thigh, nothing sleeveless, no bare tummies). No slippers allowed, though.

2. I have not yet taken advantage of these ultra casual fridays, but I like the fact that I could if I wanted to.

3. I had too much food for dinner tonight.

I'm only half here, I don't know where the other half is though, it's ESCAPED!!!! Beware!

Hmm, actually, it doesn't look like there were too many people hanging here on the forums last night -- sigh.

I'm hoping when Tom comes back, it will be bristling with energy once more here.

None of my favorite games have been bumped up and now I have to go to work frustrated!!!!

Ah, well...

1. I'm lonely! I sit in my cubicle all day and don't talk to anyone (except all of you guys of course). I guess I COULD talk to some of my coworkers but I just don't want to. I don't have much in common with them. Cory's email isn't working at the moment, and a friend I talk to on Yahoo Messenger isn't on right now, so I have no one to talk to. *sigh* poor me :P

2. I think I will be spending this weekend once again trying to catch up on Nervousness stuff. I think that's how I have spent my last 3 weekends.

3. Cory bought me a small box of Valentine's chocolates last night because I was saying how I wanted one last time we were in the grocery store. I only ate 2 pieces last night & coincidentally they were both strawberry flavor inside - those are one of my favorite kinds

-1- I have never called anyone a Republican or a Christian in an insulting way, because I don't think that's nice, and I don't think either of those things is inherently a bad thing to be.

-2- I happen to like Senator John McCain (http://mccain.senate.gov/), which is not to say that I agree with everything he says.

-3- I hate feeling like I need to apologize when I actually haven't done anything wrong.

Many cats prefer the scent of canned tuna over the scent of roast beef

Dita Von Teese is much more attractive than her boyfriend

-2- My office is damn noisy right now. I wish people would shut up.

-3- I bought a hat, toddler-size, from the university store. I have to give it to my cousin tomorrow, because his bar mitzvah project is to collect hats for kids who get chemo at Johns Hopkins hospital. Sad. But a good project.

2. There are few tv shows I do like...I liked The State....it was the best. All the shows I liked got cancelled...I don't have cable, that's ok...tv sucks my days away...not the the computer doesn't...but...it's different...yeah...
