1. cutie, if the TEACHER can't manage his time, that's not your fault, and you're perfectly justified in telling him to make sure the kids get to your class on time. If the teacher can't manage his time, how can he expect the kids to learn to manage their time?

1. In Fort St John, they never close the schools....i've gone to school when it was -42ºC without the windchill!

2. The schools never close because some parents drive their kids to school, and their vehicles will run anyways

3. I was at school on a day like that...there was maybe a total of 30 kids in school. So the teachers let us play Mission Impossible :D

3: they NEVER closed rouleau school because of weather... i guess they though sinc eyou're only walking a mile from across town (there were farm kids who got bussed, because they were farm kids, who lived closer to school than me!!!!!) it doesn't matter if it is zero visibility in a blizzard and sixty below!!!!!

2. But it rarely gets that cold here...

1. Sometimes you wake up and realize, it is no longer my birthday. All that good cheer, do whatever you want, everyone smiling at you with big idiotic grins, people humming happy birthday, gifts and cards and cakes. It's over already.

2. Birthdays should last atleast a week. That would be Birthweek celebrations. I think I can talk Hallmark into it, anyone else on board?

3. I think it is odd that when I was younger, I didn't want anyone to know it was my birthday, and was excited when at first they started giving us MLK day off on MLK's actual birthday (1/15) instead of observing on a Monday, because that meant I didn't have to go to school on my birthday and be subjected to everyone telling my happy birthday. I think all that goes back to the fact that I used to be "painfully shy." I gave that up junior year of high school. Oh, going back to the "I think it is odd" I find it odd because it is usually as people get older that they shy away from their birthdays, and I have found the reverse.

1. It is amusing that one of my most dominating birthday memories is from my 23rd birthday. They had a party for me at work that day as well. I remember the cake having those number candles of a 2 and a 3...and someone saying I really wish those were the numbers on my cake. And then Fran said, "Hell, I'd be happy to have the reverse on mine!" Fran always made me laugh.

2. I also remember that my mom always forgot to take pictures of the cake until it was cut...so we have pictures of the cakes with pieces missing.

3. Mmmm..cake...there's still a couple of slices of ice cream cake in the freezer.

2: one is for a 1 year old, the other a 51 year old... i am having a surprise party for my mom at harrison's big family party on sunday... it's at her house anyways, i so i thought it'd be a good hostess present... :P

3: i don't think she'd appreciate my usual ladybug or teddy bear cake... any suggestions??? i also need to find some new ways to cut cakes to shape them!!! i always use 'normal' cakes and turn them into theme cakes instead of shelling out a fortune buying or renting the shaped pans... anyone know of a website with suggestions???

2. I want to do a bunch of sleeping this weekend to make up for crazy life this past while.

3. I drew a disturbingly accurate parallel between the Boy and my Timex Indiglo travel alarm (that I lost) the night after he freaked out: life is good with it. it's fun and makes life easier and is just plain pretty cool. but when it's gone, you miss it for a while and you get over it. just because it's not necessarily coming back doesn't mean i regret having it. Ok, actually, in the long run, not having the travel alarm will probably have a more adverse impact on my life. I can't properly nap at school anymore.

When I go to Chicago they always talk about wind chill and heat indexes

1. They only close schools in Southern California because of earthquakes or recently...fires.

2. When we get a few inches of rain the evening news channels give it names like "storm watch 2004" and act like we are getting a typhoon or hurricane.

3. It is in the high 60's low 70's today...no windchill or heat index. (I'm sending warm thoughts to all of you)

1. I found the scrapbooking class I took to be a waste of time. They didn't really teach anything... they just showed you the adhesives and talked about what acid-free means, then just let us loose. You could ask questions, but it wasn't really helpful.

2. DO NOT buy one of the scrapbooking magazines when you're first starting out. They are very intimidating.

3. Start out small. Don't try to organize all your photos first or anything. Choose one event (like a birthday party) and pick 4 or 5 pictures that best show what that event was all about. Then think about what you'd tell someone about the photos if you were standing over their shoulder while they were looking at them. Put that info on the page. Then embellish! That's the basics, and I saved you the money for a class! :D

hehe thanks

what i'd probably do, is go to the scrapbooking store in vernon and get a membership

it lasts for a year, and i get discounts on all the stuff, and free use of their scrapbooking room

i can use die cuts, and shaped scissors, and paper punches and stuff in their scrapbooking room, and go in there and ask for help, etc.

2. I've found lots of good scrapbooking stuff at various $1 stores. I've bought shaped hole punches, fancy scissors & gel pens there before. I  gel pens!

3. I also find lots of good stuff in the clearance section of scrapbook stores or craft stores (like Michael's).

Hm- I'm trying to think of three random facts I haven't posted but can't come up with much. This means I've been on the computer too much and not done enough living. Bad me.

Hopefully this weekend will be eventful. A bike show, followed by a baby shower. Which means Uber coolness followed by utter weirdness. Billy Lane's supposed to be there, he makes the most AMAZING bikes. I'm also hoping Chica, but we'll see.

I don't even really LIKE the girl who's getting the Baby Shower, but it's my BF brother's lady, and Bro's super whipped. So if we don't go, She'll holdit over us and make sure we'll NEVER SEE THE KID. I'm convinced she moved to get the kid away from us.

I'm hoping I can convince my boyfriend to get hoagiesteaks for dinner before we depart to Sacramento. I don't know what it is, cheesesteak and cheese on hoagie rolls just tastes like HEAVEN. Good thing I don't eat them often. Otherwise I could write GOODYEAR on my side and see the superbowl for free.

My hair is wrapped in a towel. It's the last thing that comes off after a shower- not until the last year have I begun to use a hairdryer so the towel on my head for extended periods is a winter habit. Hee- I think I have a picture of me with a towel on my head- somewhere.

Gwensmom's book arrived today- I adored the inscription and can't wait to show my Boyfriend. I don't know what he'll think of it, but I'm bubbling over with the giggles over it.

Now he will actually have a job where he only needs to work 40 hours a week instead of 55, and he actually gets home before midnight every night. AND he gets holidays, and the insurance will kick ass. I'm just waiting for that final percentage point to come in before I totally lose it and start capering madly about.

2. I need to go walk my dog (who, speaking of hairs in things, manages to get his in almost everything I eat).

1. After a moment of internet research, "metrosexual" seems to mean a straight guy with some "gay" characteristics like dressing well. So if that's what they meant, Sirius, they were as bad at slang as I am.

2. Evan is one of the coolest guys I know. He knows everything. Like how to hang a car from a bridge in a safe yet effective way. The walls of his house have a "Things We Hate" poster, "Things We Love" poster, and a giant sheet tacked to the wall that you have to sign the first time you visit.

3. Evan also bought the Special Edition DVD of "Batman". Original Batman. I watched it with him on Tuesday when I was diverting my attention from the reality of my life.

1. We had a hardcore garden on our family farm. Well, have, I guess. It's slowly turning into a monster potato patch, but we also grow: peas, corn, brocolli, cauliflower, beans, squash, pumpkins, zucchinni, carrots, onions, garlic, dill, cucumbers, kohlrabi, swiss chard, lettuce, raspberries, strawberries, gooseberries... pretty much everything that will grow in our soil in our season.

2. I never much liked gardening, mostly because of the freaking huge scale we did it on. We also had our own chickens for eggs and meat, pigs for meat, cows for milk and cream and meat... we're about sugar and coffee and flour away from being pretty much self sufficient.

3. Someday I want a garden again, but I never want to raise chickens or pigs. I might be able to tolerate a cow, but I could never milk it every day. Plants you can abandon for a week or two. Animals don't tolerate that well.

* I've spent about THREE HOURS this weekend re-organizing my craft supplies. I keep trying to find a way to arrange them so that they don't become this massive mess that takes over the living room. And so that I know what I have so I can use it.

* I need to make some serious, major crafts before I can rationalize buying more supplies! And I need to start mailing a lot of postcards...

* I also need to get out of my bathrobe, brush my teeth, and convince my husband that it's time to stop working on the car and take the dog for a walk before it gets completely dark.

I was a Blue Bird (Camp Fire Girl version of Brownies) before I was a Girl Scout. I remember selling the peanut brittle and mint patties. :)

I was the only one in my Blue Bird troop to go to 'sleep-away' camp, so I was the only one who had this cool tree badge on my sash. B)

Because my Leader had heart problems , my troop disbanded right after we 'flew-up' to Camp Fire Girls. :(

It's a pair of mittens, plus one 2-person mitten, so you and your snuggle-bunny can each wear a normal mitten, and have the other "smitten" on so you can hold hands without the outside of your hand getting cold. Does that make any sense???

3. If I knew how to knit, I'd like to make that.... but I don't, so I'll never have smittens -- they cost way too much! :P

That sounds way more exciting than my previous theroy of brain damage due to an overload of joy at birth.

Zippers were invented in Canada

1. i once thought to myself that everyone is born with all knowledge and teaching is nothing but re-awakening or uncovering that knowledge.

2. i came up with this theory by myself at a very young age...i remember thinking about it while walking from the garage, across the backyard, trying not to step on mulberries.

3. i was later told that someone famous thought this up a long, long time ago, so i decided that A i must be the reincarnation of that famous person, or B i really do already know everything.

My body has innate intelligence, I don't have to think about breathing or circulating my blood or even digesting food

There are 7 colours in the rainbow: red, orange yellow, green, blue, indigo (but that is debateable) and violet.

You only need three to make any colour at all Yellow, blue, red because they are primary colour, they are the base for all colour

1. I liked it better when medeous's post had B ) translated into B).

2. Lots of things are suggesting Canada as an interesting place to live, though I'd not considered it much before, being much enamored of the Bay Area.

3. I think I have met some normal people before... but I fled at the first hint of normalcy, so I can't be sure.

My tribe is the fun tribe, the tribe with color and panache, the tribe of the survivors...

I must never for a minute feel like I am alone -- that is way too self absorbed....

I wait for him but I wait for myself, too, to rise out of my life and walk somewhere...

1. I wonder if, were one to consider for a minute using longer, more flowery and purple sentences, at least on the forums, medeous's approving mother would perhaps consider the whole thing - that is to say, nervousness and its participants - as Charles Dickens-ish, rather than, as she currently does, Emily.

2. I have been reading Plato and Anthony Burgess and Neil Gaiman recently.

3. I have just been reading my Master's Thesis again, for some reason...

I'm tall

I'm trapped in some kind of Kafka-esque life where every move I make traps me even more...

I only want to live the best life I can

I want happy memories to reflect on in my last moments, great triumphs, miracles. Knowing I did everything I wanted to or knowing i really could have.

I fear that I may die tomorrow and that's supposed to be a good way to live except it's my only true fear. Dying tomorrow would leave so much undone, how i've wasted so much time.

1. I must take exception to DOA's third 'fact'.

2. I think cb should make a Post-It note with the words "YOU'RE HUMAN" and post it on her monitor. And carry another copy in her pocket, just in case.

3. A similar note - or book cover, of course - with the words "DON'T PANIC" might be a good idea, too.
