I have a small, white, brick-shaped cat with a 4 inch tail. she is named Minnie Pearl the Punk Rock Girl
Ooh, The Dead Milkmen I heart them. That's such a good use of a song for a name.
I'm afraid I may have more than 3 facts, oh no!
1. I've been away for a day or so, it feels rather odd. It was awesome though, on Tuesday night my friend Dorian asked if I wanted to go to the coast with him and spend the night at his friends house. So, I dropped everything and drove to the coast and spent 2 nights there and skipped 5 classes. I'm bad.
2. I'm so sad. Rupert just got voted off Survivor. Ok, now you can all laugh, I'm used to it.
3. I got an A on my Indian Art History midterm!!! It was awesome, before my teacher handed out the tests she said it was a much harder test and scores were much lower than the last midterm and then I got mine and it was like 3 points away from a perfect score and said great work on it. Sorry, that sounds so little kidish, but I haven't gotten a "great work" on any paper since High School.
4. I went to the hot springs this weekend at 2:00 AM. It was awesome. I'd never gone to a natural hotspring or skinny dipped with friends. So much fun!
5. Thanksgiving is next week! It'll be my first one since being a vegetarian. I think it will go well. I'm also happy cause my friend won't be able to make it home for Thanksgiving so he's going to come to my house. I've never brought a friend to Thanksgiving. I feel like I'm in the movie "Son in Law".

1. I can't think of The Dead Milkmen without the phrase "bitchin' camaro" going through my head. Drive to the Bahamas. BIG LIZARD IN MY BACKYARD is their only cd I own. Now I can't remeber who sung/sang Elvis is Everywhere.
2. Brian is looking at "funny stuff" on his computer and I have to keep getting up to see what he is laughing about.
3. The Holiday Craft Show is Saturday.

1. I unloaded a quarter of a ton of brass from a truck today.
2. The cart overbalanced as we were moving the brass to storage and its handle just missed cracking me in the face, which might have lost me teeth, or worse.
3. The ensuing moment of useless rage at this inanimate object got me near to completing the gamut of all possible emotions today. But not quite.

1. I got my paycheck, which reflects my promotion and raise. The raise was 6%, and I didn't know if the net amount would also be 6%, but it is! Hooray! An extra $80 per month I can save. Or try to save. Or spend on yarn and postage.
2. Damnit! I keep forgetting to mail Rustell's check and stamps for WHO ARE YOU?
3. I made a budget yesterday for the rest of November & December, and left out a huge expense, inadvertently: Gasoline. And I was thinking my finances were in good shape before I realized that...

1. I fell halfway normal this morning, which is strange.
2. My novel for NaNoWriMo is actually going places.
3. I think the lady i work with is leaving for vacation next week, which is really cool because she hasn't said a word to me all week since I've been sick. Of course, I only asked if I could borrow a graphics cd through email... But I think that's hideous. If you worked with someone who was sick, wouldn't you try to be nice to her or something? Especially if that person is one of the main people that tries to talk to you and bring you into work related discussions??? What a brat!

1. You're not the only one, I kept forgetting to do that too! I said I was going to mail it on Tuesday night - and I even went to the post office that night but I completely forgot to bring the envelope for Rustell with me! I finally got it in the mail last night though.
2. I sent cash in the envelope. I hope that was ok! I am always afraid to send cash - but it was only a few dollars, so I will just hope it arrives safely!
3. I am so mad at myself. I have ATCs due for an LMAO on Monday. I have had since I think the middle of October to work on themm & I waited until this week to start doing them & they just aren't coming out great. Agh. I probably won't get them out in the mail until tomorrow morning so I doubt they will get to their destination by Monday. I am really dissapointed in myself, I procrastinate all of the time and it feels like there is just nothing I can do to change. :(

1. I have uber cold feet. I am always cold at work, especially in the mornings and I wondered if it was because I go to the gym before work so I'm always a bit tired and hungry til lunchtime and being tired and hungry makes me cold. Today I ate a massive lunch (seriously, I'm actually contemplating un-doing my trousers a button!) and now I'm sitting here feeling uncomfortably full, vaguely sick and cold. Bugger.
2. I bought seven balls of wool at lunch time in anticipation of a scarf knitting frenzy over the next few days.
3. I used to read at least half a dozen online diaries and blogs everyday but slowly I've cut back to just one which is only updated 3 or 4 times a week but is regularly so funny I laugh outloud.

3. I spent an hour taping signs to the ground so everyone could find their spots for tomorrows craft show.

When silver reaches melting point, it ceases momentarily to glow the unearthly orange it has assumed as it heated up. The surface expands, changes to liquid, but the metal holds its shape. It is for that moment liquid metal, but unlike normal, bright-glowing molten metal - more like mercury, flowing, alive, quicksilver indeed, but as when it's cool, a more beautiful color far than mercury.
Most alloys melt at a lower temperature than either of their constituent metals. It's one reason alloys are used. When you melt silver or gold onto copper, the metals fuse, and alloy, and the temperature around them makes the whole melt suddenly, and blazed holes appear where you had placed the precious metals.
Gold prefers to keep to itself, and will as it melts form a ball, standing alone on a point, barely touching the surface, and thus losing heat slowly; it remains a fascinating glowing ball longer than you might expect. Then either you let it cool on its own, in which case it becomes a nearly perfect gold sphere, which is a wonder in its own right, or bring the other metals up to match it at eutectic point so they can fuse.

No, Eutectic. The lowest possible temperature at which two given metals fuse. Also, an alloy made so that it melts at a lower temperature than any other ratio of those given metals.

I'm going to alter some daily planners tonight for Christmas gifts.
I had 94 postcards in the mail today...from some lots I bought, so I didn't like all of them.

1. I understand the term "eutectic point", but have only worked with it in ferrous alloys. Mostly just steel.
2. I just walked 40 minutes home in -15*C. I misjudged the busses and it just seemed easier.
3. I have way too much homework to do this weekend, and I already don't think I'll get it done. I have a six hour leaders retreat tomorrow, am going wall climbing tomorrow night, and get to see my friend Clay on Sunday. It should be fun, if not productive.

1. My friend's having a pie party tonight. I think that's rather odd, but I can't wait to eat a whole bunch of different pies. Yum!
2. I think I have to study all weekend, but I could be wrong. I probably won't...

Since I already have in my head two random facts that feature my husband, I'm going to go for a round three.
1. Our popcorn popper broke (this has been the Month of Broken or Breaking-Down Appliances--including also the vacuum and the mixer). For this reason, Brett has been making popcorn on the stove. We didn't buy a popper today, so I guess he'll make stove popcorn again tomorrow (Sunday tradition). We had an air popper for health reasons, but I think we'll be getting an oil popper now, having been spoiled by the real thing. And may I just say...bugitha, another weird parallel universe thing for you and me, hey?
2. Brett is not a particularly imaginative guy, but since leaving Guard he's been focused on being more spontaneous. I am totally delighted by this bit of evidence: He has been giving all postage-paid return envelopes from junk mail to three-year-old Anna, who fills them with drawings. He then mails them for her. Today he even let her fill one that required a stamp. It tickles me to think of total strangers in low-paid tedious jobs opening these envelopes and finding her pictures of birds with baby birds pictured in see-through eggs...
3. (Thinking...) The other day I noticed that his beard, which he sometimes lets grow during breaks from work (but always shaves on Sunday morning), is about a third grey. I remember when I could count three grey hairs over his ears...This last year has silvered him up a lot. The thought of us growing old together (which we are clearly on the verge of doing) is just incredibly sweet to me.

. When I was in high school, one of the stalls in the bathroom had no door. My math teacher would come in an use THAT stall all the time. AND she would talk to me while she was going potty in full view. After this happened several times, I stopped using that bathroom.
OK, that's just weird that someone would actually use that stall.
I have a recurring dream that I'm in a busy public building that has bathrooms with no doors on the stalls and I there is no other choice but to use them. More of a nightmare really.
1. I have been a sewing demon all day. I've been working on some projects to spruce up my place before thanksgiving guests arrive.
2. I have yet to start my Christmas shopping, write out my Christmas cards, or start to string my popcorn garland for the tree. Yeah, I know its not even Thanksgiving yet but I usually have a jump on these things by now.

1. I am, once again, completely unmotivated to work on my calculus. Or anything else. Only eight class days left of this semester. Eight days. Two airphotos labs, one Civil lab, two civil assignments, one or two stats labs, and a few chapters of misc. mathematical scientific mumbo jumbo.
2. The upside of yesterday's mondo-meeting was two free meals and leaving with a bunch of mandarin oranges, a couple of bananas, some good bread, ham, cheese, and tomato slices. Will work for food, that's me.

2. Now I'm all scared and nervous that they might actually pick me, and then I would have to seriously think about spending four months far away all by myself doing something crazy and wonderful and meaningful. And the fact that now I feel like I'll probably have to do an interview.
3. I am thinking that if they pick me, I will go. I don't know how I'll pay for next year if I make no money all summer... but at the same time, I know it would work out. I'd be more in debt, but so? Someday I'll make a truckload of money, and by "someday", I mean hopefully on my internship in a year and a half.

(Our white buck, Unicorn, named by and belonging to 11-year-old Braden, got a good feel for the inside of a dog's mouth and was very, VERY scared for several hours, but he's not badly injured and he's doing much better today.)

Oh mejaka, that's so scary. We used to raise rabbits and dogs got to them more than once. :( Lucky someone was home to chase them off.
1. One of the saddest days of my life was when I was 11 years old and my friend Sarah went outside to feed our bunnies because I was still getting ready for school, and she came in saying my rabbit Butterscotch's hutch was empty and there was only an ear on the ground.
2. I'm craving chocolate but since I already brushed and flossed I won't have any.

I sat down in my office chair and the leg broke off.
Even though I know it's due to lots of chair abuse I still feel like a whale now.
The chair fell over and almost beheaded my kitty! :o
Bonus fact: I brought a different chair in here but everytime I move a little my kitty spins around and looks at me with a look of absolute terror. Poor kitty. I think I've scarred him for life.

2. One of my coworkers is always asking me questions that I do not know the answer to. What's worse is they're usually questions that are better posed to someone else in the office. For example, he just asked me a question about whether I knew if our office manager had ordered something, instead of asking her. Why? Why? Why???? How hard is it to walk 20 extra feet to her office??? He does this at least 4 times a day.

My boyfriend & I usually snicker at the "old people" when we go to concerts...but everytime we go I feel older & older! I feel like 16 year olds are looking at me saying "what's that old dork doing here?!" I guess I'm just paranoid...but that would never stop me from going to see my favorite bands!

G-w-l-s, I agree with Rustell, stop ripping up the scarf! Mine's 1 metre long now and growing all the time! My tip would be to get really chunky textured wool because it hides a lot of imperfections. But I think those "imperfections" add to the charm, a handmade scarf should look handmade or else you may as well go and buy one! And that defeats the point really doesn't it?!

I found a scrap of sheet music on the sidewalk today. Wondering what it's from has me thinking again of the search engines of the future, where you'll be able to play a scrap of melody on the music keyboard attached to your computer, and ask GoogleTunes to find that song.
I fell asleep last night with two tapes in the deck, not noticing they were playing, because one has a whole blank side. So, with long gaps, I had a strange set of music playing to me in my sleep - the stereo's plugged into my clockradio. I awoke to the end of one tape this morning and let myself wake up listening to the other (Counting Crows).
Now I'm copying onto that blank side the tape that was originally supposed to be there, but which I've never gotten around to putting there. It's a demo, so it's too short for the side; I'll have to find some more to put there.

- I have very mixed feelings about this.
- I wish I could go home to prepare for it.

Oh, that is very cryptic. I am curious, Rosie, if you feel like sharing!

-1- I like Cindi very much, and I am sad that she is sick.
-2- Another person I love, totally, is pantiesontherod.
-3- Okay, it's true, you found me out: I am deeply in love with all of you. In a friendly way, of course.

1. AWWWWW! I'm feeling much less pissy now! :D
2. However the cold is gripping on harder. I'm finding myself, on the phone at work, having bizarre conversations.... You know when you're in that I'm-fine-How-'bout-you portion of a conversation? I'm answering questions that aren't being asked and saying things like "you, too" when they didn't say have a good day or anything.... I think I'm delirious....
3. Sharky's question about curiosity on Questions, Questions has me thinking about lost love. I'll blame it on the above-mentioned deliriousness.... ;)

1. I'm miserable...it's 30 degrees where I live and there is no heat in my classroom (which used to be part of a gym so the floors are concrete and the ceiling is tall) and I'm freezing.
2. My students are miserable, too
3. I went to a meeting this AM and I came back and the kids are out of control...I'm working on getting them back in gear right now...they have been so rude to my assistant and it makes me want to scream

1. I came very close to shagging a very yummy man last night, but I managed to exercise a little bit of self control and called it an evening.
2. I have been thinking of yummy man all damn day and a very large part of me wishes I hadn't exercised that self control.
3. I will see yummy man again tonight, and lord help me...

1. A group of kittens and their momma were found under a dock plate in the factory where I work. If they lift the dock plate, they'll be crushed.
2. I've been feeding their momma off and on for many weeks, in our back yard.
3. I've got one of the kittens in my cubicle right now. I will take it home and give it to my dad for xmas if there are any probs with my dog and kitty @ home...

Ohhhh! I wish I had a kitty in my cubicle.
They won't move the dock plate until the cats leave, right?
What's a dock plate?

1. I do not think they will move the dock plate with the cats under it.
2. I think the dock plate is one of those metal plates on a dock... but I cannot be sure, as I am not a very dock-inclined person.
3. I took the cat home and locked it safely in the bathroom. But not before it went psycho...

2. when i discovered that i was up early, i reset my alarm and went back to sleep.
3. the next time i woke up, i found that i had screwed it up again and was still up an hour early.
bonus: i decided to just stay up rather than risk getting it wrong again...i'm usually not so challenged by everday life.

(one) Today's extravagance: I forgot to take my shorts to the gym today but I couldn't face the walk home to get them so I popped into the 24 hour supermarket (it was 6.30am!) and bought some new jogging bottoms to wear instead
(two) Today's dizziness: its taken all morning, countless phonecalls and emails and long conversations with a colleague to organise paying for something at work. I HATE money.
(three) Today's lunch: bagel with cream cheese and a satsuma!

uno: When the alarm went off this morning, I was suddenly AWAKE. I am a three snooze type of girl. Unfortunately, this happens on my day off.
dos: I have a bunch of errands to run today, but do not want to go out in the midst of holiday shoppers. They frighten me, and I have little patience for people who stop their carts mid aisle. I frequently want to "acidentally" run my cart right into them. I have yet to be so mean, but my "Excuse me" is becoming less friendly.
tres: I do not know Spanish.

-1- On Wednesdays, we get treats (baked goods, donuts) at work. There is a schedule, and everyone has a turn every three months. Steve was supposed to bring the treats today. But he's out sick. I swear, there's always some problem on Steve's day. Usually he just forgets. I think we should take him off the list. He's not even in our department!
-2- I have half a mind. Full stop. But, also, I have half a mind to get me a cafe mocha from the stand in the library lobby.
-3- Just ten shopping days until my thirtieth bday. :) I hope Chris remembers this.

1. I took today off of work to go shopping, but I just can't make myself want to go...
2. Even when I do go, I have no plan-for-attack, so I don't have a clue where I need to go.
3. I don't even have a shopping list ready.... Can you tell how de-motivated I am?

- My hair is starting to seriously curl, and I'm getting annoyed.

1. Last night I woke up at 3:30 AM to hear my doggy wimpering and then I realized that an alarm somewhere in the house was beeping every few minutes. So I went downstairs to investigate - thought it was the smoke alarm battery so I took that out & went back upstairs. I got up there & I heard the beeping AGAIN! So Cory & I went back downstairs & realized it was the batteries in the carbon monoxide detector - so he replaced those but we were a bit worried that it was actually detecting carbon monoxide & not just the batteries dying - so Cory stayed up and watched a movie because he wanted to be sure everything was "safe." It took me over an hour to fall back to sleep. Ugh.
2. I'm going to a concert tonight.....for free! Yay! Cory's 25th birthday was on Thanksgiving day and his little sister gave him 2 tickets to see Hoobastank. I love seeing live bands...especially for free :D
3. I have another 4 day weekend this week. I decided to use up the last of my vacation days for the year this week, so I have tomorrow & Friday off. I might not be on N'ness for the next few days - but if I'm not busy I will pop in when I get the chance. I think I will be spending my days off making Christmas presents, car shopping (Cory is looking for a new car), cleaning my messy house, catching up on Nervousness stuff, etc.

4. I will miss you guys while I'm gone for 2 - 4 whole days!!

-1- I always call the band Sarah is seeing tonight "Hobo-stank," which I think is much funnier. I don't dig their music, incidentally, but I hope you and Cory have fun, Sarah!
-2- I am going to stuff myself ridiculously full of sushi on my birthday.
-3- I have a fan! My friend Phil, who edited the magazine where my poem from Best American Poetry originally appeared, got an email from some random person who wanted more information about me and my poetry. I am tickled.

1. I consider myself cultured, but I've never tried sushi and I really want to
2. I have had the opportunity to try sushi and haven't...even though I wanted to...hmm
3. I have been at a restaurant in Europe and had a steaming cow's skull delivered to the table and eaten parts of that so I'm not sure why I can't bring myself to try sushi
4. I would never do # 3 again, but sometimes, you just have to do certain things in certain situations so as not to offend someone

-1- The first time I wanted sushi, I was 14 and on a family vacation to Hawaii. My parents wouldn't let me try it.
-2- I am feeling very unwelcoming towards a certain someone who doesn't seem to have a clue.
-3- I went to the candy machine and got TWO bags of peanut M&Ms for my 55 cents. Imagine that! I guess vending machines owe me-- I am always getting ripped off.
