1 The boss sent me to the post office(again, with the certified mail!) and as I was coming out, I ran into my mother and she told me she is leaving for St. Petersburg, so I gave her a kiss and continued on. :D

2.I have to make an appointment to bring these clothes to an upscale consignment shop, so I think I will explore other options as to what to do with all these designer
duds from the girls down south, this is the stuff that didn't fit me and I wouldn't be caught dead in at a charity ball. <_<

3. I have 30 minutes to kill before the dreaded Doctor appointment and I'm feeling worse now.

1. My doctor's office receptionist called me on my cell as I was in route to the office and informed me that the doctor was called to the hospital on an emergency, so my "dreaded" appointment will be postponed until 3:45 tomorrow. :D

2. When I went back to the office, I found a list from my boss's maid which listed in detail how she spent the six hours at his home. It goes like this:

Wednesday 8:30 am

Changed sheets and made up all beds.
Washed dishes, loaded dishwasher, cleaned and polished counter tops
Cleaned and polished stove and microwave
Comit (sic) clean sinks
Clean water cooler and ice machine
Made hard boiled eggs
Made Salads
Cleaned Master Bathroom (Comit, pin sol, windex)
Washed 3 loads of clothes, dried and folded, put away
Cleaned the guest bathroom
Swept and mopped kitchen and bathrooms
Vacumed all carpets
Dusted and polished all furniture
Ironed and Pressed (1 hour)
Made Salad Dressing
Left at 2:30 worked 6 hours

I suppose she wants to be paid tomorrow and I suspect that the boss is on a diet.

Me too! Well, everything except Shmoo, that is (but i did have a cat named Chitzy). I used to have a total phobia about driving, and was too scared/freaked out to do it. About 6 months ago, I finally worked up the nerve to "just do it, dammit" and now i think it's fun. I'll be 24 in October, and when I get carded at bars, the bouncers/bartenders all think it's a fake id.

I really didn't like it for years, but over the last while I've decided I don't hate it, I like what it does for my coloring, and...well, Brett laughs at me every time I look at something pink because I was so anti-pink before...(I do own one peachy-pink dress, but other than that, nothing else). I guess I'm finally secure enough in my personal feminity to wear it...lol...

Rustell...I'm sure you meant "walk-in pantry," not "wall-in panty..." though the second does provide an interesting mental-imagery challenge.

PleasantOne, I don't know where your training lies, but most adult care centers around here are desperate for staff. I suspect that's normal, too. If you dreamjob is to be activities director, I bet there's a care center that is praying for a miracle like you. Call some, tell them what interests you, and ask them what kind of training/skills they would want you to have; then go about getting them.

You get six because I haven't been around lately. What I did yesterday:

1. Went huckleberrying for the first time, and made huckleberry pancakes.

2. Saw a moose, which trotted just ahead of my friend's car (just ahead of me) for about two minutes as we drove up the mountain toward the berry zone.

3. Spent a half hour at a small cove on the lake filled with thousands and thousands of blooming water lilies, just being amazed.

4. Burned my feet so bad on the sand at the college beach that it hurts to walk today.

5. Had a great job interview until the interviewer said the wage was only $5.75/hour. Decided later it would work out anyway (there are some serious positive things, like being able to take Miss Anna to work, and the hours being inside school hours, and getting a free club membership)...but now I'm afraid that my ambivalence about the wage showed during the interview and will my status as a prospect.

6. Tonight we're making huckleberry ice cream.

1 I'm still having a problem with trying to adjust to the fact that everything good, honest and real in this country is being destroyed by the forces of paranoia, greed, and corruption.

2 I have to stop and really look around to find beauty, it's not as though it's there for the asking anymore.

3. I wish I was involved in a good old fashioned love affair, where everyone knew how to behave and what was expected of them.

I'm still having a problem with trying to adjust to the fact that everything good, honest and real in this country is being destroyed by the forces of paranoia, greed, and corruption. Which country? Not that it matters - we're making the last few corners of the world safe for paranoia, greed, and corruption just now. Ah, the joys of the shrinking global village: equal opportunity decadence (in the original sense of the word).

One sweeping cynical opinion, now three facts:

um.

 ...if I can think of some

okay, 1. I should get off the net and turn off the music and get down to some writing. I was feeling inspiredish earlier, and may already have frittered that away. tsk.

2. Of course, if I do the first two I'm as likely to turn on my book on tape and work on some complicated ATCs. Which also need doing.

3. I have to decide if I'm going to work all weekend to try to finish a wallpiece, so I'll have something of my own design to show at the craft fair next week. I don't know if I'll have the energy.

And the computer, of course - I was watching a DVD at the time. The sound of the explosion reached me after the lights went down - not much after, but your mind runs fast at times like that. The explosion set off a car alarm somewhere, too. And the dogs started barking

1. Last night I came close to accidently killing myself. I was polishing my rocker and accidently spilled some furniture oil on the white ceramic tile floor, then I stepped in it and slipped, landing hard on my ribs. Now they are very sore but there is no way I am going to the creepy hospital they have in this town. I think I will be OK, I just need to slow down. This cold hard ceramic tile floor will be the death of me, yet. It's already murdered many a dish, glass, teapot, etc. and it's cold on my barefeet. :(

What in the hell happened to the Hippocratic Oath! etc. Blah!

regarding pets:

1: i always name my fish after food: sushi, anchovy, sardine and kipper...

2: we once had 15 cats and 3 dogs at our home... luckily we lived in a small town and they were mostly outside pets...

3: i had a pet hamster that lived for ten years... it disappeared under my best friends front step when we were making our pets do circus tricks... it's name was punkin.... (it was orange)

4: (bonus) that same friend had a guinea pig that could swim, and she forgot she had it in the tub swimming and left it... it didn't drown but when she remembered, it was sinking nd then fighting it's way back up... she didnt' let it swim anymore...

1. I used to have 2 goldfish--goldie and fishie. I got them when I was 5, and they lived until I was 13 and 19 (I had moved out of state, so they lived with my grandma), respectively. We knew they were old when their tales started falling off. Fishie got to be really big and he would swim up to the top of the tank to splash my grandmama's cats who liked to perch on the top of the tank.

2. I used to dress up my 2 small lizards in tissues.. One was the pope and the other was a nun... I'm not sure if they liked it or not.

3. When we moved out of state my mom and I gave our 2 kitties Figaro and Fluff (Figaro's mean daughter) to my aunt. She and her boyfriend were driving out to their home in the mountains and the cats went psycho. They had to stop on the side of the road and run out of the car. After about an hour, my aunt says the cats left the car, hopping off into the sunset... I always figured they'd mated with bobcats and led long happy lives with their new wild kittens.

**and one disturbing fact**
4. Figaro had a litter of kittens, mated with one of her sons, and had Fluff. Then Fluff got with one of her brothers and had a litter of her own; we had about 20 cats running around our house at the time. Most of the cats got homes, but I think there were a few that didn't survive an hour past birth. My mom said they had six or seven pads on their feet... That's why I'm glad I only have one Max kitty right now.. :-)

2. I am skipping the oral presentations of my science kids right now. It's hot. I don't really care that much. I've done a ton of things today. Maybe I'll go to the next one...

ee! barn stuff!

1) a goat had babies! yaay! She had them last monday and they're so fluffy! I love behbey goats. They had to go to the vet yesterday becuase they looked weak, but that was Mama being tired after laboring 3 kids. they are all better now and mama is doing VERY WELL, for herself and the babies.

2) we just got a baby turkey! I love birds, more than goats! His name is Gobbles, and he's a rust bourbon, meaning he'll be a rosy grey-tan color. Hes only four weeks, but he's learned to perch on my shoulder already and hasn't pooped on me yet! i adore Gobbles, and to know that this small birdy will be a TURKEY and LOVE ME just makes me all mooshy.

3) We also have two behbey chickens- half silkie, half bantam. which is weird becuase the bantam mother is half the size of the Silkie dad. The babies have five toes on each foot! Now this is abnormal- chickens only have four, excluding spurs. But one baby has threeforward- twoback, and the other has threeforward and the twoback are welded into one massive toe! The papa has 5 toes, and spurs.
very weird.

4) Our sheep Harry can open his pin-lock gate. Not good.

1 Mr. Stagnation thinks he's turning into James Bond. No, wait a minute, I take that back, more like Steve McQueen in "Hunter" or "Bullet" I feel a pressure building up in him to do some detective work on the theft of my cell phone, perhaps because he feels the police are not doing enough to solve the case and he wants me too have revenge, restitution, and all the other spoils of war, he believes a victim deserves, some sort of "Big Get Even" I would prefer to just let it go....

2. I was in the pool at 8:00 am this morning, and swam and swam and swam and then we did some water areobics and then swam some more laps. Then I went into the steam room for about 30 minutes, the hot tub about 30 minutes, the sauna, etc. Now, I'm at work, looking at a huge pile of paperwork, correspondences etc. but I'm so blissed out I'll be done by 5:00pm in time to swim some more. :D

1 I am home at last! What a day! I never made it back to the pool because the weather turned nasty.

2 I picked a huge bouquet of Zinnias from my garden and the colors are just amazingly vivid, so tonight I will work on my palette from them. The colors range from a bold red, to magenta pink, and several different shades of orange. Last summer I had green Zinnias but they didn't show this year.

3. My new cell phone has a whole bunch of different ringers on it. He tells me how he almost got married, until he discovered she was into drugs. He told me he has a new and much nicer house, now. I told him he should stay single, (after all, THAT IS HOW HE SWORE TO ME HE WAS GOING TO REMAIN..at one time....sigh!) 1.Mr. Stagnation has been stagnating as much as he can, he almost refused to go to work yesterday and you would think he is experiencing some sort of blackout or power failure, himself. :o

2. I am totally prepared for any major blackouts, hurricanes, etc. My kerosene lamps are polished, cleaned, wicked, filled and ready to go, got batteries, etc., so of course since I'm prepared, nothing will happen.

on the subject of pop???....

1: i prefer diet pepsi to diet coke but will drink either coke or pepsi... but if a restaurant doesn't have pepsi products (for my diet pepsi) i will order iced tea or coffee...

2: my favorite pop ever is white cream soda... yummmmmy!!! best 'white' cream soda was the a&w's first cream soda (in my memory of their cream sodas anyhow!!!) which was in a gold-y colored can and was itself kind of a gold color... very vanilla-y... i MISS IT!!! if you can still get that ANYWHERE i will trade my kids for it... well, maybe not, but i'll make a good deal!!! ;)

3: i miss pic-a-pop too... i believe they MAY still have one in lumsden (a friend said a few years ago that they did), but i haven't seen one anywhere in years and years!!! when i lived in red deer about 12 years ago, there was a grocery store there that had this HUGE selection of fountain pops (veronicaslovebug: NOT SODA!!! ;) ) that you brought a two litre bottle to fill with any flavor that you wanted... they had cotton candy and bubblegum, any fruitflavor you could think of, lime, cherry and vanilla colas, etc... very cool i thought...

i am drinking a english toffee cappucino right now... in the sweltering heat...

My two cents--or three random facts--on soda (sorry nymphette, I say "soda" too! or else refer to any kind of carbonated beverage as a type of Coke, but that's been covered in a previous post to this thread. :) )

1. I used to only get soda when I was eating out, never bought it for the house until a place I worked finally got a Coke machine and I started slugging the stuff down at 6:30 am. Then it became a household staple. I've tapered back considerably in the past few months, though, due to financial problems. Now I only allow myself one 2-liter bottle every other week.

2. I heard on NPR that the Chicago area is the only place in the U.S. that still manufactures/sells "New Coke." Remember the New Coke fiasco in the 80's?

3. When I lived back east, I thought Moxie Cola was the most disgusting beverage available. It's not sold around here except in nearby Virginia City at the soda pop "museum" which is really just a store that sells a huge variety of carbonated beverages that are hard to find elsewhere.

On the pop subject...

1. I prefer Coke to Pepsi, but more because they gave me a grand in my first year of uni then because of the taste.

2. At the same time, I hate both Coke and Pepsi because of their relentless campaign to brand every aspect of my world. Especially Coke, as they've branded my university.

3. If I do buy pop, I usually get the store brand for cheap. Same unnatural goodness at a price I don't feel silly paying for colored bubbled sugar water.

2. I can't stand to drink tap water...i always make my mom buy the bottled water...our tap water tastes like it has chlorine in it

Continuing in the carbonated beverage theme:

1. I love Bleinem's Ginger Ale, a potent brew originally for medicinal purposes, madde in South Carolina.

2. I like selzer and bitters, or seltzer with a bit of candied ginger, or selzer and lime juice.

3. Instead of a carbonated beverage, i generally have a cup of keemun tea.

Cheers,

Since we're on the topic of softdrinks and other drinks:

-- Back in high school, I used to drink 1 litre (sometimes more) of regular Coke a day.
-- Now I only drink Diet Coke - not that it makes THAT much difference.
-- The new blue Sprite Ice makes me nauseous.

I have a feta cheese fetish

I love feta cheese! A friend once recommended a restaurant, and I went, based soley on the fact that they had feta cheese at the salad bar.

1. My car started up fine this mornig, I drove to the park, took a walk, collected a bunch of leaves for an art project, went back to my car an hour later and it wouldn't start. :(

2. The mechanic's best estimate is "at least a couple hundred bucks, parts and labor." *sigh*

3. If memories of waiting for the bus for hours in the snow, struggling through a crowded bus with a basket of clothes to take to the laundromat and trying to shop for thanksgiving dinner carrying everything home on the bus weren't so terrible, I'd go back to traveling strictly on public transportation.

1. My ominous bubbling plaster is now a large hole in my ceiling and a promise of a plumber tomorrow. He's supposed to do the taps, too. I'll believe it when I see it.

2. I may get a new fridge! That would surely lower my electric bill, so I'm rooting for it. Again, though, I'll believe when I see.

3. I'm temporarily living alone and TV free. I think I could rather get used to this. Next time I lose a roomie, I will be sorely tempted to find a place just for me.

1. Last week at work, I had this conversation with a 4-year-old:
Child (looking at a baseball display): I want the baseball.
Me: I'm sorry, but it's just to look at.
Child: I want the baseball!
Me: I'm really sorry, sweetie, but it belongs to someone.
Child (pointing behind me): Look! A monster!
Me (looking behind me at non-existent monster): There's no monster!
Child: now has hands on the window's lock, trying to open it.
Me: Kiddo, you can't get in there, it's all locked up.
Child: What's your name?
Me: Miss Katie. What's your name?
Child: (somewhat garbled) shuudop.
Me: Sheldon?
Child: (totally clear) Shut UP!
Me: Oh, that's not a very nice thing to say.
Child: You big monkey!
Me: Ooh, that's really not a nice thing to say!
Child: You BIG STUPID MONKEY!
At this time, his sister runs up, grabs his arm says "J.J.!!" and pulls him away.

work stuff-

Gobbles the baby turkey is getting BIG, almost a foot now. He's starting to look like a turkey too. He can fly a little, and I let him walk around the barn and catch flies. What a cutie.

The Baby goats are doing well- they can now go outside. I'm not so scared for them, but they still are small- being only 4 weeks and and shorter than Gobbles. Might also get a white horned Nubian- depends on the caretaker.

Harry the sheep is better, thank goshies! I was worried for the dumb oaf.
