What is a peaceful; tranquil thing you have seen, heard, smelled, tasted ( can anyone 'taste' peace?) ; felt or otherwise experienced today?
People sleeping ( especially my kids if they have been bickering during the day) always look peaceful.
The smell of favourite incense is great ( especially if it's Mermaid's Mist).

As I was walking out to my car to go to class, I looked up at the sky and saw the sunset reflected in the clouds. It was really beautiful and made me smile.
I also find tranquility in the small "woods" we have on campus. We're located in the middle of a thriving city (a rather industrial city not known for a low crime rate, at that), yet I am able to go into a small wooded area and just listen to birds and squirrels. It's wonderful. http://nervousness.org/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
i feel the most at peace on a cold october morning when i have the softest blanket wrapped around myself and i wake up in the bed with my husband next to me and realize it's saturday- and i dont have to work and i can go back to sleep.
smells like burning leaves.... and i think peace tastes like gooey buttercake. mmmmmm.

I love it when I just wake up and I'm snuggled in my blankets. I don't stay snuggled in for very long since I have to jump up and shut my alarm off, but for those few precious seconds, I'm content.
I also like to lie back on our big cushioned couch all snuggled in with a blanket watching forensic shows. I'm at peace when I watch those because I know what my future holds.

Today was a perfect autumn day. Cloudy early, clearing by noon, warming to mid-60's. My small bit of peace today, (and it was a VERY busy day), was when the dog went up and laid down on the deck bench. Then the cat looking down on him, went and laid down next to him. That NEVER happens with the both of them. They were both very happy for the short time they snoozed in the sun on the deck. It made my day! http://nervousness.org/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
The only reason I saw this, was my need for a glass of water from the kitchen. If I hadn't been thirsty I would have missed this wonderful scene.

A spontaneous 'cause-he-wanted-to open mouth sloberry kiss from my 19 month old son, followed by a hug!!!! Warms my heart http://nervousness.org/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

My morning walk to the lake in the gorgeous fall weather. If I had a place to hang my pics so I could put them here, I would. The lake, and a deer a few steps into the forest off Chalet Road...so beautiful.
Miss Anna coloring in her pajamas.
The smell of oatmeal with apples, cinnamon, cloves, and vanilla. Hot chocolate, too, when the boys come home from school.
In the summer, peace is in the smell of grass and the weight of a warm sun. I love to lie in the yard after a picnic with my kids.
But we were talking about today...Today peace was a single merganser on the lake, not fishing or diving, just floating out there in the autumn sun, like a haze of gold.

I'm not sure if this is really peaceful, but it made me happy.
On my way to meet my boyfriend for lunch today, I saw an elderly couple walking hand in hand in front of me. They were both leaning on each other, possibly for support. They got to The Goose Fountain (I'll try to find a picture of it) and sat down together, hand in hand, and just watched the fountain, smiling. It was great. http://nervousness.org/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I love watching elderly people walk hand in hand. It's the ultimate sweetness.

jadestar, that's beautiful.
it is very peaceful to lay on my bed and pet my cat. also- i feel at peace when it's raining at night. i'll usually make coffee and watch the thunderstorm. another think i enjoy is being wrapped up in doing something so much that i dont notice time. its sometimes hard to clear my head- but messing with paints and such does it.
the opposite of peace would be when you wake up in the morning and you step in shit. it's all downhill from there. its a sign that the day is gonna suck.
