Subject: International Community/Mail Art MEETUP Day

Hello,

I'm writing to let you know that the Community/Mail Art topic is now live on our site. This topic includes postcardX, 1000 Journals, nervousness, 20 things, and all other community art projects.

Help get the word out to other artists! You mentioned that you are an active member in nervousness, so your help is instrumental in generating the interest for successful MEETUPs. You can find our links here
http://comart.meetup.com/link.jsp
or tell a friend here
http://comart.meetup.com/tellafriend.jsp

I have scheduled the first MEETUP for Monday, October 7 @ 7:00 PM and after that the first Monday of every month.
Take a look at Community/Mail Art page:

Cheers,
Margaret

(with especial thanks to AshleyShea:

from the glorious AshleyShea: ------------------------------------------ THE QUESTION: I just saw you chocolate survey LMAO and have a suggestion. There's a website that coordinates people meeting up from all over the globe. It's at http://www.meetup.com They already coordinate \"meetups\" for members of Live Journal and BookCrossing if we suggest that they add one for Nervousness, they will help coordinate a day and time for people to get together. ------------------------------------------

I've signed up. Is anyone else from Melbourne interested?

OK it's probably too late [early?], I've had a bad day and too much Shiraz...but I can't figure out how to join this seemingly wonderful thing. Is it because my "area' -- Victoria or Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, isn't on the list?

HELP!!!

Yeah, the closest city listed for us is Vancouver, and I don't think I will be making that trip again too soon....

Hopefully the site is adaptable for members to change times and locations if needed.

the idea of the site seems to be quite promising, so good on the person who suggested it. there is no past meetup report (none that i can find) even from other communities listed on the site, so can't really see how it's been going on so far. and only photos can be uploaded. but i guess stories are told and reports are made back on the inidividual online community's website.

i signed up even though i'm bound to be the only one locally - you know, just for the heck of it ;-) but i could only pick from the singapore venues :-P

so what you can do is suggest a venue (http://www.meetup.com/suggest/venue) to them. no idea how long they will take to put your suggestion in but i'm sure meetups are not restricted to the venues already listed.

is there anyone else interested in going to either a meet up in Albany, NY or Rutland, VT? I wouldn't mind driving an hour either way to go to one...as long as I'm not at the only one there http://nervousness.org/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

The Meetups site is a great idea, but it's still pretty new. I think it will just take a while to catch on. I had signed on for a blogger Meetup back when the site launched, and I've tried a few other categories since then. But I'm so used to the Chillicothe meetings getting cancelled that I don't even try any more. http://nervousness.org/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif One of the major down-sides of livin' out in the sticks. http://nervousness.org/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I could travel to Columbus to meet other bloggers, writers, artists, pagans or secular humanists but the nearest Nervous people seem to be in the Cincinnati area. That's just too far to drive for a cup of coffee with 3 other people!
