I you are spiritually confused, answer the Belief-o-matic questionnaire and it will tell you what religion best matches what you believe.
http://www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_7665_1.html
When you post your results, tell us how accurate they are.
My top five results from taking it a year ago:
1. Mainline to liberal Christian Protestant(100% match) -that's what I am!
2. Orthodox Quaker(97%)
3. Liberal Quaker(96%)
4. Unitarian Universalism(80%)
5. Reform Judaism(75%)

I just took it. Everything else was 84% or lower. I find it hilarious that Roman Catholicism, the faith of my family and the church that educated me from kindergarten through twelfth grade, tied for last place with Eastern Orthodox and Seventh Day Adventist, at 19% compatibility.

I left the 6th & 7th ones in out of interest as I've never heard of either of these. In fact the whole list is a bit of a mystery to me. Very interesting site gwensmom, thanks!

I think "Mainline to Liberal Protestant" must include a broad range of denominations. In no way did I imply with my answers that I think Christ is God, or that there is "a God," so it's very interesting that I am a 100% match with any kind of Christian religion.

I take the test a couple times a year...
1. Neo-Pagan (100%)
2. Mahayana Buddhism (78%)
3. New Age (77%)
4. Unitarian Universalism (75%)
The basic results have stayed the same for awhile now, but there's more of a gap between my first choice and the others these days.

I've been going through a major upheaval in my beliefs, and this is forcing me to face the fact that I'm still drifting in a kind of formless creed soup... (sigh) None of the proposed answers really suited me.
For better or for worse, here are my results :
1. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (100%)
2. Liberal Quakers (88%)
3. Unitarian Universalism (86%)
4. Bahá'í Faith (72%)
5. New Age (62%)
6. Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (62%)
7. Neo-Pagan (61%)
8. Secular Humanism (61%)

10. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (59%)
11. New Thought (50%)
12. Theravada Buddhism (48%)
13. Mahayana Buddhism (46%)
14. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (46%)

23. Islam (27%)
24. Seventh Day Adventist (23%)
25. Eastern Orthodox (20%)
26. Jainism (20%)
27. Roman Catholic (20%)
I'll simply note that I, too, was raised a Roman Catholic, baptised & confirmed... was an altar servant... read texts in church... sang in the choir... even gave out communion!!! I no longer believe everything they teach, or go to church anymore except on special occasions for that matter, but I wonder if there's something in the teachings that produces this reaction in people?

I still think it's funny that Roman Catholic is the last on my list...

As for the rest... it amuses me that I'd be a better Muslim than Mormon, when Mormon's do so much recruiting on Christianity's coattails.

Well, I'm Celtic Pagan (strong leaning towards Celtic Reconstructionist), so I suppose neo-pagan is the closest I'm going to get. I noticed a lot of people got Unitarian Universalism which I had never heard of before. I read their little write-up on it and that's not me at all considering I don't believe in the Christian God, so how can I believe that anything the bible says? Even if it's only symbolic?
Seusomon
01-02-2004, 10:43 PM
I'm a UU - we have very little to do with the Christian God - either the write-up is weird, or you're taking it strangely.
We're a demonination that is multi-theological: atheists, agnostics, pagans, Christians, Buddhists - united by a consensus on how people should treat each other in this life.
...and I'm also a practicing Pagan witch...

Fascinating. I've been trying to talk my Quaker friend into going to the Quaker church here (she's never been to the one in town). But I have no idea where they fall along the orthodox/liberal continuum.
I've done enough exploring/reading to know I have UU, Neopagan and even liberal protestant leanings.

What really surprised me was that Roman Catholicism came in dead last.
