I took a formal Meyer's Briggs test when I worked at the bank (1998) with "clear E and J and slight N and F
So, at least the extraversion and judging are the same.

I've had different results with different tests. Haven't taken this one yet, but I'm pretty dern sure I'm a INTP.

INTP (I didn't take this quiz - I've already done it and there's not the slightest question which one I am). Wow, lots of INFPs, no wonder I like it here - they're the people I fall in love with (again, I knew this from experience before the quiz told me).

Hm.
I've taken the full Myers-Briggs a couple of times but this one came up with the same answer: I (but pretty borderline, so sometimes I'm just an E) N T J.
BTW this is (or was about 5 years ago) the most common type for senior civil servants in the UK.

INFP - without question. I didn't take the test again, but I've done it before...
Edited to add - I did take the test (just can't resist a personality test! ;) ), and I'm getting INFP again (the only characteristic that was even close to a close call was the T/F). It just goes to show I'm a very consistent person in my paradoxes! ^_^
And why am I not surprised that Rustell and I test as complete opposites... haha.

I am about as INTJ as they come. Especially the I and the J.

I used to peg all the scales as an INTJ. A few years back I had a sort of spiritual/personal transformation, and now the I/E, T/F, and J/P dimensions are all toss-ups - I can plop into either mode depending on the context. I'm still solidly N however!

Very interesting
supposedly only 1% of the 'general population' is INFP :
Does anybody know of more recent statistics and how large a range of people were tested for inclusion?

Add me to the INFP ranks.
It's funny -- In college, I was a theatre major. We took the test and I was the ONLY "I" in the group. I guess I didn't last because I wasn't such a limelight-hog! :P

That's funny, I've never gotten E before, and I have no idea how they drew that from my answers. :/ The version I took before had a lot more questions, though.

That is interesting. I'm sure the nature of our site and community skews the statistics quite a bit, but perhaps also this test is itself a little skewed. I wonder what percentage it assigns to INFP.
I also wonder, is that 1% statistic from the whole population? Because it would not surprise me (though I'm biased per above comments) if INFPs were a lot more common among women than among men, and given the demographics of Nness...
What you should do if you think the description of the type you're assigned to is a little off is vary each of the variables in turn, and look at the corresponding type to see how well it fits you. In my small circle (my mother's family one Christmas) we found just how good the very much simplified test we took was by reading the descriptions, especially when people were borderline in one variable, and found they were half like one description, half like another, and almost nothing like any of the others. I was highly suspicious of this kind of thing, but it nailed me so solidly (and I fit only one type at all well) that I was convinced.

There must be a way to have an lmao of 'different forces/pulls" introvert - extrovert etc

INFJ.
I first took the test in 1995: high I, high N, medium F, high J
Now, I'm: medium I, medium N, med-high F, low J
I don't know whether it's actual personal development, or getting used to the questions and subconsciously answering differently.

I'm an ENFP- I've taken that test several times(even the longer more official version) and I always get the same thing.
But I honestly think I'm an Introvert and an Extrovert. I love being around people, but as I've gotten older, I get really tired out by social events- especially if I'm around people for too long.
But I really like personality tests- even astrology can be neat to read about and see how it fits in with what you think your personality is.

I'm a STIP, but I'm in the same boat as curiousgirl... I enjoy being around people, but social events tend to exhaust me. But then I suppose it's a good thing I didn't get extrovert, because then I'd be a STEP

I got INTP, but the T was borderline with F, so maybe that could be different on different days...maybe influenced by the fact that I studied law.

Hi, all ~
I was looking at a blog about knowledge management (km). The author has another take on the Myers-Briggs test that you might find interesting: http://billives.typepad.com, then scroll down slightly to the 10/26 entry.
Yours, N~N ^_^

Here's a more direct link (http://billives.typepad.com/portals_and_km/2006/10/complexity_vs_t.html) to the post in question, although Bill Ives' "take" on Myers-Briggs amounts to little more than a statement of his own aversion to being "put... into little boxes," an admission that he's never taken the MBTI himself, and a link to the typo-laden (but authoritative-sounding) Skeptic's Dictionary (http://skepdic.com/myersb.html) (the "Skeptic" of the title being, apparently, renowned Sacramento City College professor Robert T. Carroll (http://skepdic.com/refuge/bio.html)).
It is interesting that Ives links his distaste for the MBTI to "simple faith in numbers" and then refers his readers to a Skeptic's Dictionary article which faults Jung for insufficient statistical studies. ^_^ Mr. Ives may want to hire an executive assistant to help him manage all that knowledge.
