I'm watching (another) ghost-hunting show on TV, totally fascinating and freaking my self out... I've had personal experience with ghosts, and I'm curious to hear others' stories...

I've been one.

1. when were you a ghost?

2. i've seen a ghost before...it was creepy....it was more like a spirit...it was a ball of light that looked like a flashlight, and went down the hall, and as it went down the hall it got smaller and smaller, till it got to the wall, and it just dissappeared

Yes, I have. And it was very, very scary. Both times.

I astrally project toward people I love, usually without intending to -

can be good if they ask for it, weird if they don't--

I got a visit from a ghost a few weeks (months?) ago. It was creepy and Paul has convinced me that it might have been an alien instead :P . Can you tell I'm all about the supernatural?!
Recently, we have been having an electrical ghost. Now, it could just be bad wires, but it's weird. The first thing that happened was that a lightbulb in the lights on my living room ceiling just exploded a couple weeks ago. Shattered glass all over me and my boyfriend. We got a new bulb and put it in and it worked just fine. Since then, every lightbulb in the house has been going dead. Even the ones we just replaced are burning out within weeks. Also, the printer in my bedroom has been turning on at weird times in the middle of the night. I'll be sleeping and wake up to the sound of the printer turning on for no reason, spitting paper out all over the place! I have to unplug it to make it stop. So yeah, maybe it's just bad wires in my apartment, but I like to think of it as a gggggghost!!!!
I have more ghost stories, but I don't want to tell them all right now while I'm sitting alone in my living room at night!

I put other. I have never seen a ghost but I might see one later. I don't think it is likely at all but I don't rule out their existance just because I haven't seen them.

I want to hear about auntieemu's and Laurasia's ghosts. But in the daytime!

i have heard and felt a ghost...

we lived in an 80 year old house that used to be a hospital (right down to a morgue in the basement....) (and i guess that house would be 90 or so by now...) anyhow...

one night, i was asleep in bed, and something woke me up- i heard a noise and i could feel a presence in my room... so i stood up and reached over ot pull the string for the light and turned it on- and the door to the unfinished attic room was wide open!!! (now, anyone who knows me knows how afraid i am of spiders- this door had a latch on it and it was NEVER opened, because i was always afraid of spiders coming out of that part of the upstairs, and into my room.... that door is NEVER UNLOCKED, let alone open!!!) but here it was, wide open in the middle of the night and it was so cold in that part, which it shouldn't have been because it was summer and that room doesn't have any insulation, so is usually very stifling hot.... needless to say, i went and slept downstair in the living room... not for being afraid of a ghost, but for whatever spiders could have gotten out!!!! i was happy to have a ghost!!!

another strange thing, though i am not sure it falls under ghosts.... once, two of my friends and i went down to the basement and got a ouija board that was in a box, we took it upstairs to the kitchen wiped it, and the box, down because it was dusty and cobwebby and icky.... anyhow, we decided to use it upstairs in my room, with the blinds down in the dark, etc to freak each other out... we were like 13, what can i say??? anyhow, when we got upstairs, we went to take the board out of the box and it was covered in webs and crawling with centipedes and spiders..... blech... i shudder every time i think about that!!!!

my husband's fmaily has it's own ghost, they have even been on some cbc (i think?) program called 'prairie hauntings'... anyhow, 'george' is a little brat, he likes to move things around and hide them... sometimes for days or weeks!!! for some reason, he likes to make himself at home at OUR house... he tends to latch onto people and follow them around... he's decided to pick on us for hte past three or four years.... things go missing and you tear the house apart looking for it and sooner (or usually later) you find it, in plain sight, or right where you left it or where you've looked over and over ot find it.. very annoying!!!!! chris's sister told us 'just say 'george, go HOME' and he will come back here' (chris's parent's place)... it doesn't work for long- any time someone mentions him, he comes back here!!! we went camping few years ago and we were talking about our fmaily ghosts, and my best friend krystal was talking about her ghost that followed them from quesnel to regina, and i guess george got a little bit jealous about all this talk of another ghost... he threw all the CD's on the picnic table at krystal!!! they were sitting on the table, with the cd player, and she was about 2 feet away- and all of a sudden, they just went flying!!! it was hilarious, she was freaking out... still does to this day when we talk about it!!! heh...

anyhow.. i am in a haloweeney mood now, i just made a haunted porch for the kids trick or treating tomorrow... being banished from my house for hte past week kind of put a damper on my 'grand plans'..... sigh.... but i got SOMETHING done and am happy for it so!!!!!!

Have lived in a haunted apartment. Pissed me off more than anything else because he kept moving my stuff and I couldn't find it...moved my jewelry when I was in the shower, for example. Moved stuff out of the fridge and it spoiled. Moved a rug so I'd trip over it. He wasn't evil or scary, just a pain.

Those days are gone, thank goodness. Now when something goes missing I just blame my husband.

Yeah, it really can be scary!
I had a ghost sitting on my chest when my mom moved into her new house. I was sleeping in 'my room' for the first time. It sat there a long, long time, and then a cool breeze came through and it left.
But it never bothered me again. Just checking me out, I guess.

My most recent ghost (alien?) encounter...
A few months ago, I woke up one morning from the middle of a deep sleep. My boyfriend had left really ridiculously early that morning for work, so I woke up alone in the semi-dark of my room (sun wasn't all the way up yet). Anyway, I woke up completely, but I could not move at all. I know that this is something that happens to the body in sleep (your body is paralyzed when you sleep so that you don't actually run around in your bed while you are dreaming about running around), but this lasted soooo long. The thing that woke me up is that I had a real sense that there was someone (something?) standing above me at the side of the bed. I couldn't turn my head to look, but I swear, I woke up in complete terror because I knew that someone was standing there. I thought maybe it was my boyfriend, but then I remembered that he had left hours ago. Anyway, I tried to call out or scream or do something, but I couldn't make even a tiny sound. I struggled for what seemed like a really long time, trying to turn around, to scream, to ask who was there, but I couldn't move. Finally, after what seemed like at least five minutes, I was able to speak and move again all of a sudden. The presence was done right before I was able to move though. I dunno, it sounds like it could just be crazy Laura's imagination after being poisoned by too many horror movies, but I swear, I really do think that there was a ghost or something in my room that morning. I've woken up unable to move before (because of the way your body paralyzes itself in sleep) and it never felt that strong or lasted anywhere near that long. I've never had trouble talking/screaming right out of sleep before either. Oh yeah, and this is where the alien idea comes into play. I thought it was a ghost, because I'm partial to thinking things are ghosts, but then I remembered that when I drove home late the night before, I saw a ball of light dropping from the sky and this was way out in the woods of Marin County, for those of you who know the Bay Area. Anyway, that's where the alien factor comes in. Either way, it creeped me out a lot! Come to think of it. All my weird electrical problems started pretty soon after this incident.

I was watching GOOD MORNING AMERICA when I was getting ready for work in the morning & they had a story about children who have night terrors. They said that long, long ago it was believed that when a child was having a nightmare it meant the devil was sitting on the child's chest! Creepy!

I have never personally seen a ghost, but my family members have told me about a ghost that lived in an old farmhouse that my great grandparents used to live in. I think she was supposedly the ghost of a woman who used to live there and she would shake people while they were trying to sleep & they would feel someone touching them but they couldn't see anyone.

There's a certain graveyard that I used to take all my friends to. It was sort of a test to see how long they would stay without staying they felt weird and wanting to leave. Now, we used to hang out in graveyards all the time. This one gave everyone chills and a strange uneasy feeling. None of us go there anymore...just thinking about it makes my skin crawl.

There are so many weird things that happened to me - you'll probably think that I'm insane by the end of this post! ;)

I used to wake up in the middle of the night at least once a week and there was always "someone" in the room. The first time it happened, the "person" was above me and I screamed really hard and I didn't want to go back to sleep. My then girlfriend was so afraid that she kept the lights on and didn't want to go back to sleep either.

I moved into my current house in April 2002. I met my boyfriend in September 2002 and he moved in with me. I started waking up in the middle of the night frequently, always screaming and crying, telling my boyfriend that there was someone in the room, or telling him that I was so scared of the "men" who wanted to take me away... My boyfriend had never seen someone who was afraid like that. I think everyone has horrible nightmares once in a while where they wake up screaming, sweating and crying... But what happened to me was always different. I was terrorized. The last time something like that occured I told my boyfriend that I really had to forget what had just happened because it was too traumatic. I was like "I have to forget, I have to forget, please do something, please, I don't want to remember this, this is so terrible, I can't stand this, if I remember what just happened I'm gonna go crazy, help me!!!". My boyfriend was really scared by then and when he asked me what exactly had just happened, my answer was "they don't want me to tell you, I can't tell anyone". And then I fell asleep. When I woke up again, I didn't remember any of this had happened.

But I don't think the "people / things / creatures" I used to see were ghosts (I don't see them anymore by the way, it was just too traumatic I guess so I kind of shut a door or something). Those "things" were really scary. However, I did see something that I consider to be a ghost when I spent the night at a friend's house over a year ago, and I'm not afraid of ghosts / spirits. When I sleep at a new place, it's always tough for me to fall asleep. I was definitely wide awake when a man appeared right above me. He seemed to be floating and he only had a face. He didn't speak to me but he was asking me something telepathically. I wasn't scared but I was in shock so I wasn't able to pay attention to what he wanted me to say / do. He stayed there for about 20 seconds and then just disappeared.

Every time I do those weird out of body trips while I'm sleeping....I figure I must be some one else's ghost.

Other than that, I've seen several, as a kid and as an adult. They always seem to be on some business of their own.....never had anything to say, or even seemed to notice me.

I think this is an interesting thread. :D

I've seen ghosts before..

The first ghost I've ever seen was when I was younger.. probably 7 or 8. We lived in an old mining town called Crucible. We moved out of that house since then but many years later - I find myself back at Crucible.

ANYhow, I remember waking up in the middle of the night to see a dark fingure standing at the end of my bed. It looked like a silhoutte of a man wearing a hat carrying a work lunch box. Of course, I was scared and I put my head under the covers and eventually fell back to sleep.
Also, while living in that house.. I always just had a funny feeling like something was in the room with me. I have never been that scared living in a house before. When I would play music on my stereo something would always turn the volume down.. or change the channel to an oldies station. A few years later, I thought about this and realized it might have been a miner that used to live in this house many years ago.

January 18th, 2003 my best friend Heidi, who was 16 yrs. old at the time, died in a terrible car wreck. She was driving home with her friend Chrissy from the bowling alley when it happened. I'm still pretty confused about what happened at the time - but a few days after it happened I had a lucid dream about the car wreck. I could actually feel myself in the wreck with her. She spoke to me "after the wreck" to say she missed me and goodbye. I woke up soon after that with a strange feeling..
I'm not sure if I dreamt this because I was so upset about her dying or if it really was her way of saying goodbye. I've only dreamt of her twice.. and both times were very lucid and I awoke with a strange but warm feeling like she was watching over me.

What does everyone think about dreams? I've once read that dreams can be the subconscious mixed with a bit of supernatural.

Also, last summer while staying over at my then-friend's house.. I saw a ghost. She lived on Cemertery Hill not even a mile from the Cemetery in which Heidi was buried. Her house wasn't the only one to experience strange behaviour... but as I was turning around the corner to go into her bedroom I saw a woman out of the corner of my eye. I felt like someone was watching me but as soon as I looked she was gone. My friend told me she's seen her before too.

I love a good ghost story. :)

I used to live in a 300 year old house, and there was a presence in my attic room. It would manifest as 15 or 20 little blue points of hovering light. A few people saw it, including the person who had the room before me. Never got a bad feeling from it, so it never bothered me to share the room.

Speaking of ghosts showing up in photos, what do you all think of this picture? I took it around dusk at a local cemetery. The evening was clear and so was my lense. So then, what are all these strange "orbs" floating around?

sometimes these are caused by the light reflecting/bouncing off raindrops or snowflakes, or airborne dust... (but sometimes not!) this is a very cool photo....

Obsidian Cat, now that's just about the freakist thing I've ever seen! Inigo is a pretty cat, by the way.

Christine_0701, I've heard about those balls of light ghosts. In Celtic lands, they call them "death candles." A friend's mother, here in America, saw one when her son died. Can I ask if there were any events connected with your ghost?

I can't honest-to-god say I've ever seen anything, but I can defenlitely feel when an area is inhabited by the supernatural.

The Illustration building at my old college was once used as a gentlemen's club. There were amy rooms in the upper three stories, and the basement story had a stage and a dressing room, and the Boiler room.
Just being in the basement down there gave me the willies, even with a class full of other people. But you could NOT get me to enter with less than five other people. It felt as if someone didn't want me there- as if I simply didn't belong and was excluded from the enviornment. I would get very cold and get goosebumps, and that feeling as if people were staring at me... At my high point, I'd squeal and run out and not re-enter.

I also feel that way at dawn and dusk- as if there are creatures just beyond my perception that are watching me, and at those times of day I can feel it everywhere- in houses, while camping, on city streets. Sometimes it's hostile, bust most often its not, as if I'm just merely something to observe.

my little ghost story:

well once upon a time the husband (then husband-to-be)
and i lived in what could be called a live-work space,
(if you were very kind)
in deepest darkest west oakland, CA.
this is the hood, my freinds, and stories i have in dozens.
but this story does not involve guns or random fires or collapsing freeways.

the space was a hand-me down for some time, my two freinds who
i got it from had gotten it from a man who had died in the space
(i have his drafting table) no this man, mr. W, was a drug addict, sado-masochist,
and possibly a dealer-gun runner. the myths are deep. most believe
that he was 'helped' into his O.D., so there's that bit of mystery too.

some of the odd things:
doors not working, oddball feelings, cats acting freakier than even a freaky cat
usually does, but then the real bizzare thing, whilst the guy and i lay in bed,
water would drip from the ceiling and hit us on the face. we could hear
it and feel it, but when we went to wipe it off our faces, they were dry.
and this didn't happen when it rained. there was never dampness on the ceiling
or on the pillows, or anywhere, yet water dripped on us.

this dissapeared gradually as we lived there, we still got his mail,
and he still had an active bank account and safe deposit box that
no one could shut down since we weren't family. one day the bank
sent him a two dollar bill (for being such a longtime customer!)
that we posted up on the wall, and is still there, as freinds of ours are now in
the space. it feels very differnt in there now, and we all get the feeling
that mr. W is happier.

i also happened to randomly meet a girl who was very tight with him
when he was alive, much later, and thru her got a job, so who knows,
was he looking out for me? or her? now we are good freinds.

so ghost, random chance, whatever.

but kind of interesting, whatever it is.

I'm feeling a bit weird about the whole thing. I was wondering who the striped kitty might be, but I remembered my ex-boyfriend's cat was euthanized last winter, shortly before Max died. He and Max were best friends when we lived together, always snuggling and romping together.

I wonder if they're together again now... I'd like to think they are.

about 7 years ago, we lived in those house that was built directly over an old farm. at the time, i was 7 years old.
so many scary things happend in that house it was insane.
1)one evening, everyone had gone to bed. everythign was quite a= peaceful and perfectly fin.e my mum about to doze off, hears noises from the kitchen. she hears the fridge door open and shut and the water int he sink turn on full blast. so, she assumes someone has broken into our house. she wakes my dad but he immediately rolls over and goes back to sleep. the second my dad begins to snore again, my mum hears the kitchen cabinets open and shut loudly and all the plates smash to the floor. it sounded as if the cabient had been ripped off the wall. she gathers up the courage to walk into the kitchen. and nothing is even moved.
i believe it was a type of poltergeist thing. to make us get out of the house. the neigbors before us had experienced things quite similar.

2) when someone would be in the shower and in the house by themselves, it would be quite common to hear someone else in the house, calling their name. but, once they had gotten out, wrapped themselves int he towel tos ee what was the matter, no one would be home.

3)when i was younger (about 3 or 4) my mum would put me to be only to come back and hear me talking to someone despite the fact that no one else was in the room. she believes that the ghost was some type of mother figure adn would speak to me

4)typical ghostness. things would fall for no reason. thigns would turn on for no reason. just, creepy.
