Curiously created this poll to know what animals y'all are most scared of - - and why do you think that is?

Big Norwegian Wharf Rats are not my cup of tea. I have been known to scream when I have seen one occasionally darting around my urban landscape...

Roaches! The really big flying ones. I am terrified of them, and they know this. I can be in a room with several people and the roach will head in my direction. :o

I'm not afraid of any kind of animal above the water (though roaches disgust me), but I have a phobia of jellyfish. It's not even the sting I am afraid of (been there, done that!), they completely creep the hell out of me.

Spiders. Uck. I Hate Spiders.
   When I spot one, I can't take my eyes off it lest it sneak up on me...
And I don't even come from a place with big or venomous spiders!

me too!!

i got stung when i was 8 or 9, in my friend's pool... there were 2 greenish bee/wasp type things, and - contrary to what my friend's mom said - they were not dead.

one sting each, in the fleshy part of my left hand between the thumb and index finger. :(

then i got stung by a wasp-hornet thing -- not one of the small but horrible yellow jacket wasps, but a slightly larger yellow and black type thing... just a few weeks ago. raking leaves, and picking them up to put them in the yard waste bag. NOT wearing garden gloves. got me on my right palm. it surprised me alot more than it actually hurt. but i whined like a baby - and cussed like a sailor.

and wasps are the thing i hate most about summer, too... just when you sit down to eat a meal outside, there they come... and these wasps are carnivorous, so they love burger meals... and they always buzz round MY head... i get just paralyzed about it sometimes, and i have no choice but to take my meals indoors.

i can't stand spiders either, but my mom is alot more phobic than i am.

I have a longfelt fascination and love for snakes though... some people think that that is horribly wierd.

the bees probably swarm around you because they can sense you're afraid...the always swarm around ppl who are afraid the most...unless you're allergic...honestly, if you had 100 people all together, and one of them was allergic, the bee would sting him/her.

you're probably right there... no, thankfully i am not allergic to stings, one of my friends is though.

when i was little we also used to say it was because of my red hair, that i looked (in some stupid way) something like a flower - - or because i was sweet like a flower.... kinda silly tho.

No! Don't be afraid! Bees can be very sweet, they make honey!

I'm terrified of killer whales, I know they don't generally go after humans (just those poor seals) but there's something seriously creepy about those beady eyes and great BIG mouths full of teeth! Yikes!

Thinking about it, I agree with Alpaca, I'm okay with most surface creatures and creepy crawlies but anything in the sea freaks me out!

littlest-bee and I are opposites! I am scared of bees and she is scared of the sea creatures.

Really I am just scared of wasps and hornets, not honeybees or bumble bees. One time a wasp flew down my shirt and stung me and got STUCK there on my breast. It was so embarrassing because I was hanging out with this guy, Warren, who was just an aquaintance, and I made him stick his hand into my shirt to remove the wasp. Hee hee, poor guy. Although maybe he liked it, because he made me Macaroons on my birthday.

I am afraid of worms, they make me feel sick when I see them. It's horrible after rain when they all come out of the grass *shudder*

I think I hate them because at primary school people used to chase each other with them an threaten to put them inside your clothes. ewwww!

The scariest situation I can think of:

Being in a body of water with a big-large-huge aquatic animal swimming up to eat you.

So anything that swims and eats people-sized animals (ie, sharks and alligators and any fictional (?) beasts like Loch Ness) scare the living crap outta me. Just the idea of being in water -- where humans have almost zero manuverability -- and having a creature with amazing swimming ability and huge teeth closing in on you... *shiver*

very arachnophobic.... it's pathetic really, i freak out and have panic attacks, or start to cry.... yup... pathetic...

my husband thinks i should get therapy/treatment of some sort... he siad they just make you confront your fears, i'd touch and hold a spider and ge tused to them... yeah... you'd have to give me a shot to calm me down and i'd be hysterical and have nightmares for months....

i can't even step on them with shoes on!!! which i KNOW is stupid, yeah, dont' step on it, just leave it so you dont' know where it runs to... but i jsut can't!!!!

yeah...it is true....and despite that fact, if a bee is around, my dad (who is deathly allergic to yellow jackets) will be the one swatting at it and getting it pissed off!!

It's the creepy crawly slimy things that get to me. Like slugs and things that live under rocks.

*shuddering at the thought of them*

Most of those up there don't "scare me".
I mean, they do indeed grab my interest, and they can surprise me. But I think the one that will actually cause me to shriek would be a mouse. But that's just the classic "Ak! a mouse!"

If I'm scared of anything, People would probably be it.
Weird.

Check out the irony -- I'm terrified of the sea and the unseen creatures that might be creeping in it, yet I'm a sucker for night diving, where you can't see a bloody thing outside the shaft of your lamp. Oy vey.

hm, well, I've got 3 ratties of my own, whom I love very muchly ^_^
and in my opinion spiders are some of the most beautiful and graceful creatures on earth. Bats are just plain cute, and snakes are so fluid and pretty.... skeeters are just plain annoying, and I hit someone for stepping on a bee (don't ask, I'm just wierd like that). Skeeters are annoying, but when I was little (up until I found out they could carry disease) I would let them bite me because I felt bad for them since they had to risk their lives to eat O.o

but get a maggot or leech near me and boy oh boy. I won't kill it but I will probably do a good amount of shrieking. And flies are evil. I don't tend to kill them either (even though that would fix the whole maggot problem), but there's this one in my house that dive bombs me all the time o.o
Other than that though, I can't think of much of anything that would really wig me out...
