Person writes a true sentence about themself. Next person does the same, using one of the words from the previous sentence.

Example:

I love spinach lasagna.

I grow spinach in my back yard.

I want to be a doctor when I grow up.

...

I'll start with:

Even though it's October, I still keep my windows open at night.

Some stupid kid shot one of our windows with his beebee gun, so the glass man came yesterday to repair it.

medeous
10-20-2003, 09:27 PM
i've found many people i work with have an inadequate vocabulary and they have no idea what i'm talking about when i inform them that they irk or peeve me. (i is edjumacated)

hammerquill
10-20-2003, 09:59 PM
Deficient vocabularies irk me, too, and improper usage is one of my pet peeves. (medeous: do they all think "peeves" is a reference to Harry Potter?)

bluecrayon
10-20-2003, 10:28 PM
So, hammerquill, would you find it difficult to have a conversation with me knowing I had that deficient F-word in my vocabulary???

hammerquill
10-20-2003, 11:16 PM
Lacking the F-word would be an astounding deficiency in this day and age, but most sentences can get along without it; but how can a word in itself be deficient, except perhaps being deficient in syllables, having but one, or in letters, having only those infamous four? (Nor is it hard to find one-syllable, four-letter words among the true stars of the language.)

bluecrayon
10-21-2003, 12:28 AM
Well, you're right as always, hammerquill -- the F-word is actually quite compact and full of vim and vigor which is needed sometimes to push the tired language over the hump of someone else's indifference...

Cuilanië
10-21-2003, 04:41 AM
Expletives, such as the F-word, are wonderfully effective and versatile ways to express strong emotions. :)
