Top 5 Most Embarrassing Moments
Lilac
10-07-2003, 11:20 AM
In no specific order:
When I fell out of my boyfriend's car in front of the country club and my pants, which had gotten caught on the doohicky that moves the seat, stayed IN the car...and I had no underpants on.

When I started my period wearing light colored jeans and didnt know it...and had gone to several different places, including the humane society, panara bread and the farmer's market.
When I was in labor with my son and left big farts every time I attempted to push.
When i threw up on a first date to an amusement park...on my date.
*actually, there are worse embarrassing moments, but they are just too complicated to write...so this list will have to do!

4. The Poor years of his life while his dad was in jail and his family lived in a homeless shelter. He doesn't talk about that either.
5. Why he's a NICE guy. I mean. He doesn't act like a guy. There HAS to be a reason behind that...
Uhm.
Top five BAD things you've done. Vandalism, robbery, breaking and entering. We're anonymous, so spill the beans!
Lilac
10-07-2003, 05:50 PM
Ummm...okay...I'll answer this one.
1) Broke into a church (with a friend when we were like 14) and stole choir robes. I have no idea why we did this!
2) Rolled a giant pumpkin down a very steep hill into a very busy highway. My friend and I took off when we heard tires screeching.
3) Snuck out with a friend when I was 15, stole my father's car, drove 45 miles to Pittburgh, smoked pot and went clubbing and raving. I have no idea how we managed the getting into the bar bit...and quite frankly, I can't really remember much about that night except that somehow I got the car home without my father knowing what I had done...and that the car smelled like pee.
4) Anonymously sent a pig-shaped birthday cake to an ex boss with "Happy Birthday Fat Pig" written on it.
5) Pushed a girl into a polluted river while we were in college. Well, actually..I think this one needs a little explaining. There was this little, um...slut who had a huge crush on my then boyfriend. She was brash enough to walk right up to him while I was there and flirt. I warned her several times, in a decent sort of way, to back off. I also told my then boyfriend to discourage her from this behavior, but you know college guys...need I say more. The three of us were in the same program at school (environmental engineering) and one day we had to go out and take samples from this dirty, filthy river that contained run off from a mill. There were about six of us standing on this floating dock-type thing collecting our samples. I was at one end and sleaze-girl and ex were at the other end when she started that flirty, girly giggling that drove me INSANE! I looked up and she was grasping his arm becuase...*oh my* she was losing her balance on this rickety old dock! I calmly got up, walked over to her and gave her a sort of sideways karate-type kick dead center on her behind and sent her flying like 5 feet out into this greasy river. She swam over to the side and tried to pull herself out of the water onto the dock. I wouldnt let her, and I forbid everyone there to help her. I must have been pretty menacing because everyone just kind of stood there gazing at their hands, afraid to open their mouths. I told her to swim to the bank. When she got out of the river she started crying and calling me crazy and saying she was going to go to the dean...blah, blah, blah. I said go ahead...go to the dean. All I did was throw trash into the river.
Anyhow, long story, but it was one of the meanest things I've ever done to another human being.

Hm...not sure if by place you mean my house, or my town...so...
Top Five things I like about my house
1. It is ours - Me, Brian and Wells Fargo own it.
2. It is totally us -- no stuffy designer crap, lots of comfortable places and decorated however we decide.
3. Our office. Roomy, lots of storage, we both have our own zones without being on tp of eachother but we can be in the same room, and Brian built all thos oak cabinetry that holds stuff like a refrigerator for water close by...
4. Closets/Pantry. Our house was built in 1999, and most of the new houses have limited closet and pantry space. One of the reasons we picked KB homes is that they have ample storage space. All the bedrooms have walk in closets, and our kitchen pantry is 9ft by 5ft....love it.
5. We have a loft/library area that is very cozy for reading. It also does not have a television in that area, so you can read in peace without someone coming in and turning on the television which is what happens in the living room or bedroom if you try to read.
About Phoenix
1. The weather, yes it gets hot, but we do not have natural disators (no blizzards, earthquakes, tornados, etc) or snow shoveling.

3. My family and friends are here.

4. They think they can charge a ton of money for sheets, blankets, curtains, etc. because Martha Stewart's name is on the tag! (I think the stuff is expensive for a store like Kmart anyway...although I have to admit I do own some of it!)
5. Target is cooler & Walmart is cheaper.
*I know most people here seem to hate big box chain stores...but where I live it's really the only place to shop. There are no privately owned businesses like this & if they are they are mega expensive....and well..I'm poor! :P *

I apologize I didn't see the Medeous part. Medeous feel free to post your favorite shoes as well. :D
1. A pair of black patent leather high heel mary janes. The heel is block, so easy on the feet. I used these to swing dance almost every night for a year. They are torn now, but I hold onto them in the hope that some day I can afford to have a pair remade just like them. I bought the pair at Marshall's in 1994. I think they were $20.
2. A pair of tannish brownish leather high heel mary janes. The heel is block, but they are considerably higher and therefore not so easy on the feet. I keep them around because they look vintage. I bought them at Goodwill, probably for under $5.
3. A clunky pair of maroon-ish, cherry-ish oxfords. I think they are made by a similar company to Fluevog. The sole appears to be recycled tire.
4. A pair of grey suede mary jane flats. They are made by an English company. I forget the name. They are very comfortable.
5. A pair of black leather mary janes, but different from number 1 in that they have this neat pattern to the front of them. It's hard to explain. They are also made be a company similar to Fluevog.
I got 3, 4, and 5 at Atomic City in Austin.

Top 5 things you remember from your childhood...
girl-who-loves-sharks
10-16-2003, 07:18 AM
I am known, to my family and friends, as the one with the amazing memory, so picking five feels kind of strange, but here goes:
Earliest memory, I think: Christmas morning when I was two years and twelve days old. I remember my Christmas stocking hanging on the edge of my crib and the way it felt nice and lumpy and exciting from the outside.
I remember being four years old and examining the eyelash curler on my aunt Rita's dresser. I thought it had something to do with putting her contact lenses in and out, and it scared me.
I remember that on the day before my 5th birthday my mom was sitting in the living room crocheting. Very odd because she never sat in the living room and I had never seen her crochet. She told me she was making a plant hanger. Turned out that she was actually making a little rug for the new dollhouse I would get the following day.
I remember in elementary school, playing in Park Road Park with my class, that I was sitting in a running-barrel thinking and minding my own business. Suddenly, two of the boys from my class got into the barrel and made it spin and I got turned upside down and hit my head really hard. Mean stupid boys.
I remember being at home when I was six or seven, and my mom changing the lightbulb in the hanging-lamp over the kitchen table. I was working at that table, painting in an activity book. I was talking to her, and the glass globe that covered the bulb slipped from her hands and shattered everywhere. She started crying and it totally freaked me out, so I went and hid under my bed for a half-hour until she came and found me. I had thought it was my fault that she dropped it, because I was distracting her, but she didn't think so, and she wasn't mad.

3. I signed up for something in a craft store without paying attention to what it was. While I was there they announced that I had won a 6-foot artificial ficus tree. It was interesting trying to get it home in my Corolla!
4. I was appointed editor of my high school newspaper
5. I won a holiday essay contest at work. We were supposed to write about a personal holiday experience and I wrote about the time we were in the children's hospital for a month when Gwen was a baby.

I'm gonna cheat a bit and list SOME of my favorite paintERS -- because I could no way narrow down my favorite paintings to 5
This is just off the top of my head right at this moment:
1. I like a LOT of Jackson Pollack's work -- it makes me dizzy and I can stand in front of any number of his works for a long time...
2. I like Van Gogh -- I LOVE him, in fact.
3. I like an artist named W. H. Johnson a lot.
4. I love all the anonymous mural painting from Mexico and Central America -- vibrant and colorful and political and subversive all at once
5. Probably my all time favorite painter is Wassily Kandinsky -- I love his use of color and the sadness that permeates from a lot of his work...

Top five times you got in trouble as a kid...

1. Making crank phone calls with my partner-in-crime, Brandi, who lived down the street. She dialed and handed me the phone and I started talking. It was MY MOM. Brandi was so mean sometimes.
2. Hiding bologna sandwiches under my bed. They were from my lunchbox and I didn't eat them in school. I don't know why I couldn't just throw them away. Dumb.
3. Gloating when I won first prize in a writing contest and my brother won 4th place. (We were in separate age divisions.)
4. Walking to 7-Eleven without asking. Pretty pitiful, I know, but I guess I didn't get in trouble very often.
5. Telling my dad "shhhh' for singing too loud in church. That was really bad.

Top 5 vices
kittymao

vices being weaknesses?
oKAY.
Motorcycles, especially european foreign. i can hear a Ducati a block away and stop in my tracks as it drives by.
Mexican food. Though I am not mexican myself- I am always comforted by it, the fact that someone spent more than thirty minutes preparing a meal that includes more than one item...
Sugar. Yep. Give me sugar and I will be your friend. It's bad to eat regulary, and my family does have a history of Diabetes, but it seems that if I don't eat sugar, I have to eat REAL food, like every two hours.
Pretty-Boys. While it seems they are a handful in relationships, I'm still gonna ogle for all I'm worth. What's a pretty-boy? Oh- usually a bit femenine, with hands that look as if they've never worked a hard day and a face that's never really seen the sun. Sometimes long hair, but not usually.
Rudy. My boy. If anything is a vice, it would be him. I drop EVERYTHING for him.
