Just like "Things We Haven't Done"...we list thigs that we HAVE done! Weird things, funny things, embarrassing things, excitings things...whatever you want to share!

I'll start!

I have been to Africa.

I have attempted to make my own scented candles but failed miserably.

I have mowed the grass in my bra.

I have been kicked in the stomach by a horse.

I have had my hair done by "hairstylist to the stars" Jose Eber! LOL

I have been to the following places: New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, Vermont, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania. Those are the ONLY places I have ever been.

I have inadvertantly put my mouth on a water bottle that my dog had just licked....eeewwww.

I have been to the Statue of Liberty.

I have touched a "famous person" (Coby Dick from the band Papa Roach)

I have been so drunk that I vomited 6 times. (oy! That was hopefully the 1st and LAST time I ever drink that much again)

I have swam in the Atlantic Ocean (many times!)

I have had a pet pig. When I was a little girl my dad's uncle lived on a farm. We went to visit one day & there were a bunch of baby pigs running around so I asked if I could "have one" - they said yes, so I named the cutest little one "Piglet" (How original!) and decided that would be mine. I of course couldn't take it home to our apartment, so I thought they would just keep my little Piglet there at the farm for me forever. Well, we went back to visit another time & I asked where Piglet was & my dad's evil uncle told me he was bacon..and he wasn't kidding....what a jerk :( That traumatized me for life.

Sounds like you need to take a roadtrip to Baltimore! :D If you ever do, you can stay with me!

Editing to enable emoticons, and to say, I really thought I was PMing this to Sarah and not posting for the world to see! (But the rest of you are invited too.)

And since I am here anyway, I guess I will say, unlike many of you, I have done a lot of drugs! (Definitely not bragging, though, and I don't do them now!)

Hehee...that's ok....everyone can see this & be jealous of the invite! :)

My boyfriend was just in Baltimore a couple of months ago for the day for some kind of class/seminar thing. That was his first time flying in a plane....Yikes! I am too afraid to fly...so someday I will definitely have to take a road trip down to visit you :D

I:

shopped for glue in a hardware in Holland where no one could speak English and I couldn't speak Dutch. AND followed the Dutch instructions and the glue worked.

made many articles of clothing from wool I cleaned, dyed, and spun myself. And I taught myself to do it all on my own.

built a daybed this weekend! It turned out great!

made all the food for my own wedding reception.

I wanna go to Africa and mow the lawn in my bra now!

We almost have something else in common....I'm not a vegetarian, I'm a chickenatarian. I do not eat red meat or fish. It's been 8 years now... If I was more fond of vegetables I would be a vegetarian, but at this point my pickiness would cause me to starve if that were the case....

I have printed two small fine-press books on a hand press (an upright press - the kind in the old engravings), and parts of two others.

I have learned almost all the aspects of medieval bookbinding, except skinning the animals.

I have given myself a third-degree burn with an oxyacetylene torch, and a larger one with boiling peanut oil.

I have rebuilt a car engine (with help).

I have devised a few of the patinas, and many of the techniques we use at my father's studio.

I have become incapable of going more than a week or so without buying books.

I have lived in England for a year, while I got my M.A. in Medieval Studies.

I have given more than five gallons of blood, but now the American Red Cross won't let me donate for fear of CJD (mad cow disease), because of the amount of time I spent in England.

I have done most of the work on my own longbow; I fletch my own arrows.

I have had one relationship that lasted longer than many marriages.

I have been told I'm a good listener.

I have never forgotten a poem I deliberately memorized.

That's funny, Rustell, when I went to the John Hancock Tower, I was under the impression that I was in Boston... Maybe it moved in the interim!! ;)

- I have read the "I've never" thread and realized I've done a lot of the things people listed at least once.

- I have boarded an airplane a total of 23 times, counting plane changes on indirect flights. I was 12 the first time.

- I have lived in 9 different homes, in 6 different cities.

- I have left my parents' house when I was 18.

- I have been in two relationships that started as very long-distance, including my now-failed marriage. Those were my two longest relationships. <_<

- I have had my first sexual experience at age 21. I have had a one-night stand once - my choice, not his. I don't regret it, but don't intend to repeat the experience. I have also smoked my first cigarette at age 21.

- I have broken one bone - my left pinkie toe. I have had minor surgery twice, once to have my wisdom teeth pulled (is that the correct English expression?) - I had them all done at once - and once to remove a lump in my right breast.

- I have taken ballet lessons for 10 years when I was a kid. Then I decided I wanted a life.

- I have learned to read before I went to school. I have lost count of the number of books I've read. This was already true when I was a teenager. I have also read TLOTR more times than I can count.

- I have managed to accumulate three years worth of old newspapers in my tiny room.

- I have completed first aid courses and a lifeguard certificate for both pools and inland beaches (rivers and lakes). I have also completed the Red Cross' swimming instructor certificate.

- I have tried to donate blood, but have been refused on account of low blood pressure.

- I have danced the role of an angel in The Nutcracker with a professional company, at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. The company auditions dance students each year for several of the minor roles - one of the most stressful and exhilarating experiences of my life.

- I have been interviewed on TV once. This was broadcast throughout Canada. I was in the local newspaper three times.

- I have gone on waaaay too long here! I've tried to cut back on detail. <_<

There is a John Hancock Tower designed by IM Pei in Boston.

This is all about the Chicago John Hancock Tower Hancock Tower - Chicago (http://www.hancock-observatory.com/). It's a big company, I guess they can have multiple towers. From what I am told it is not quite as tall as the Sears Tower, but the observation deck is higher than the one on the Sears Tower. I didn't go up the Sears because there was an hour and a half wait....

I just read Cuilanië's post and liked the idea of reviewing what others have not done that we have…so

•I have seen a whale, on a very turbulent whale watching boat. The only time I have ever gotten sea sick.
•On that note, I have been deep sea fishing in the ocean. And I have been on a cruise ship (4 of them).
•Oh, I have bought lots on ebay. One guess at my ebay user name…
•I have lied to boyfriends, but always with what I felt was a good reason.
•Been to a laundromat.
•I have worn a bikini – actually there’s one on underneath that shirt in my avatar picture.
•I’ve been to a drive in theater.
•I haven’t crowd surfed either, but I’ve been in some wicked mosh pits. Last time I was in one it was painful, that’s when I realized I was too old to be in a mosh pit. Or maybe too much of a girly-girl.
•I have gone camping. I loved all of it but the lack of shower part. Must shower daily.
•I have been to Disneyland 19 times.
•I have learned to swim – and have swum along the coral reefs of the Caribbean sea.
•I have lived by myself – but it didn’t last long. Six months.
•I’ve been on airplanes lots and lots of times. For a few months of my life I fly from Phoenix to Reno every other week. I wouldn’t have any idea at the count.

And, I haven't gotten the Red Cross' swimming instructor certificate because I am intimidated by the 500 yard test. I love the water, but don't like having my head under it. I cannot hold my breath very well. I do have the Red Cross first aid and cpr certification, and am actually an American Red Cross CPR/First Aid instructor.

OOOOOOh Cuilanie- I am/was a ballet dancer too! I took lessons for 11 years and then got a life just like you.

I was also in the Nutcracker once. They were really hard up at the time so I was in the corps of the snow scene (my fav!), the flowers and arabian. Yes, they had a corps in arabian - weird). I was 12. I was not that good but I sure improved a lot that year!

After that I danced in some smaller performances with a youth company. I quit after my junior year in high school. Now I take a ballet/exercise class twice a week with other adults ranging from 20 somethings to a lady in her 80's.

I never considered dancing professionally because I do not have the right body type. I am short and solid to put it politely.

I love ballet and modern and any kind of dance performances. I'm all excited just talking about it :P

Cuilanië

gwensmom, are you SURE we've never met???!? I was 12 too when I danced the Nutcracker. And no, the arabian corps doesn't sound weird to me, we had it too... And I don't have the right body type either for a pro. :)

- I have played a chain game for the first time on Aug. 26th. I answered a question from Seusomon...

- I have crowd surfed, once, briefly.

- the last time I was in a mosh pit, I was ejected and landed squarely on my behind. I came away with BIG bruises all over my arms and a healthy respect for mosh pits ever since... :D

Cuilanie, I thought it was weird we haven't met either until I realized that the year I was dancing in the nutcracker was the year before you were born!

And aren't we all so talented here with bit parts in the Nutcracker, Christmas pageant solos and (whoa) Kicky Kangaroo! Rustell, do you have a video tape of that?

Other stuff I have done:

Been to Denmark twice and would go again if i could

Kept in touch with a British guy I had a summer romance with 21 years ago.
(He got married last year and is expecting a baby any day now!)

Seen REM in concert 5 times.

Learned some belly dancing from video tapes and taught it to my ballet class.

Sorry SarahGwen: No video tape. That was 1981, we had the ol super-8 but for some reason no tape of that. Oddly, I have now volunteered to show pictures that my mother used to torture me with (by showing to friends) when I was a teenager. I'm at work, so you'll have to stay in suspense until I can email them from home....

Back to the I haves...

I have had my first boyfriend stand next to me when I got married. He was on my left as my Man of Honor. We should have always just been friends.

I have had all of my past relationships end amicably. I could still comfortably be friends with anyone I dated.

-have taken riding lessons (for 9 years and thoughoughly enjoyed them.)

-have participated in dressage and jumping compitions

-own three horses, Zinni (my outrageously beautiful grey dapple Arabian), Cooney (a somewhat homely but very loving Appaloosa) and George (a moody, ill tempered, elderly Palamino)

(Alpaca - Zinni's name is actually "Zinnick"...that's Arabian for "brat", right?)

(The other two horses are NOT named after George Clooney! It's COONEY, not Clooney! Just wanted to make that clear! Cooney's real name was Tycoon...but I've never called him that. He's always been just Cooney to me. I "recsued" him from a riding stable that was going out of business.)

oh, oh, the brushes with the famous edition...

At my first job (16 years old) at a movie theatre, sold tickets to:
1. Joan Collins
2. Danny Ainge
3. Michael Gross
4. Alice Cooper
5. Wallace of Wallace and Ladmo.
6. Didn't actually sell tickets to, but dealt with the Secret Service when the vice president's wife and kids came to see a movie.

At my second job (18 years old) at a music store
1. Pretty much everyone who played for the Phoenix Suns at the time, including Charles Barkley.
2. Local newscasters.
3. Kris Kross. Yes, they were wearing their clothes backwards.
4. Lots of musicians that I didn't recognize, but other people at the store got excited about.
5. Alice Cooper.
6. Lots of visiting athletes.
My gosh, my memory is horrible.

Oh, and I spent time at Magic Mountain with a guy from Quiet Riot. I was with a friend who said, hey that's "Carlos Cavazo" Who? Sorry, I wasn't a big metal fan. Then we proceeded to walk around and ride the different rides with the guy. He probably thought he could just have a day at the park with friends....

- however been seen while having sex outdoors in broad daylight. Both times.
- giggled at the mention of Kicky Kangaroo (sorry Rustell, but I am also easily amused! ;) )
- tried to design a website by handcoding, and never got very far (I need to actually learn HTML, not just guess at bits and pieces)
- never really met a celebrity, unless you count the lead dancers from Les Grands Ballets Canadiens (see previous post)

Oh, here's a good one -

I have invoked the monkeys that rule France by wishing for a change in French politics on... September 11th.

Yep, there's definitely something about that particular date.

[Did I mention I have a dark sense of humour?]

Lilac and I are opposites.

She has never been a cheerleader. My mother made me do Pop Warner cheer for three years, followed by junior high school cheer. High school I became assertive enough to just say No. She also signed me up for Little League and then came home and said, "Guess what you're going to do this summer?" When I had, in fact, never picked up a baseball before.

Lilac has never been to California when I went there for vacation at leaset once a year until I was 12.

Lilac has never been to a medieval festival. I have gone to the Rennaisance Fair every other year.

Lilac has never been liked onions. While I too, do not like onions, I love Onion Straws (like Ruby Tuesday's serves).

Lilac has never been hosted a big, formal party. Let's see, the 1500 people was not formal. The 150 people at the wedding was.

Lilac has never been shoplifted. We have a match!

Lilac has never really enjoyed going to church. We have a match!

Lilac has never taken a cruise. Make sure you go on a newer ship. Princess cruise lines is really nice, but most people on board were old. Royal Caribbean is very nice as well. I went on their oldest ship and it wasn't all that pleasant, but the new one even has a pool table and a rock climbing wall. Apparently they have an even newer one that has an ice skating rink! Was not a fan of NCL cruises. And, if you can splurge for the room with a balcony, it makes a world of a difference!

hm...do I see a "Weirdest places you've had WHOOPIE" thread in the future? I'm assuming the highly classic "Newlywed Game" is an international phenomenom so those outside the US are familar with the WHOOPIE phrase?

He was campaigning at my grocery store in the bargain aisle. It is a good thing I didn't have anything in my mouth when I read this, otherwise, it would be plastered to the computer screen. :D

Also, one of those three occasions was at the beginning of my fourth year living in the university Residences, as a practical joke to scare the newbies (especially the girls).

I have tasted pomegranate juice (http://www.pomwonderful.com/home.asp). It wasn't very good.

I have bought a bottle of pomegranate juice because I thought the bottle was cool.

I have double jointed fingers!

I have been to an Apple Festival (and in fact I will be going to one this weekend too!)

I have gone through phases where I really liked playing video games. I was addicted to Grand Theft Auto (Vice City) when my boyfriend first bought it. It is such a stupid game, but it's fun to drive the car through the city! And I was a little bit obsessed with Zelda on Super Nintendo for quite a while also.

I have had crushes on the following celebrities when I was younger: Will Wheaton, Joey McIntyre (from New Kids on the Block), Corey Haim, Darius Rucker (from Hootie & the Blowfish), and Christian Slater. Oh yeah, and the boy who gathered carts in the parking lot of the local grocery store. While he isn't quite a "celebrity" he WAS arrested a few years back (this is while I had a crush on him) for peeing on a public building...so his name was in our local small-town newspaper. Ha!

Redandpinkdaisy
09-30-2003, 05:30 PM
Ok, my arm is twisted. Here's what I think my best revenge was. :)

(background info: my high school had 26 students my sophomore year, and we had 3 classrooms.)

My sophomore year of high school, this guy Frank was really rude to me, all the time. He called me a bitch and a prude, and was a condescending jerk to almost everyone. One day in class we were all talking about our parents and divorces and stuff. I told everyone that my mom had been married and divorced 3 times. After that, Frank started saying things about my mom, like she was a no good whore and a slut and a bitch, and that's why she couldn't keep a husband, and no wonder I was such a useless fuck-up, and all sorts of rude, horrible, untrue things. He said this stuff for about 3 months, until school was over. He was graduating, so I decided to get some revenge. I planned for a week or so, and decided to make my move.

At graduation, while everyone was inside, I was outside. I had planned on messing up his car, which he was really proud of, some old cadillac convertible thing. Turns out he drove his parent's very nice and expensive Eddie Bauer Explorer. He also brought his parents and his brother, who was in my class. I thought, even better, he talked about my mom, so this works. So, I stuck a banana REALLY far into his tailpipe. I wrapped as much of the Explorer as I could with saran wrap, and then COVERED it in shaving cream, mustard, and sardines (the only things I could grab at home that my dad woldn't care were gone.) To top it off, I ripped some pages out of a Playgirl (naked men) and put those on the windshield. I was basking in my triumph, but them someone was coming outside, so real stealthy-like I hit the ground and slid underneath it, until they passed by. My leg got all cut up from the gravel, which sucked. Then I went inside, said goodbye to my friends, and took off for home.

When I went to pick up my report card the next morning, everyone had heard about it. Apparently his parents weren't pissed off about it because his brother told him the things he had said to me for so long. They wouldn't let him wipe it off until after the yearbook committee took pictures of it. :) It didn't end up in the yearbook, which is unfortunate, but everyone knows it was me, and that it was well deserved revenge.

and while I'm at it, I've also:

*co-written and starred in 3 school skits and plays

Your story reminded me of an excellent revenge plot I used to do.

When I was in college my girlfriends would call me if some guy treated them bad. I would sign the guy in question up for a gay contact club adverised in the back of rolling stone magazine. Yes I can. 's a free country, Missy. *grin*

Ok, ok, it's about the men who interest me. Granted, there are few enough of those... But most of them seem to be either:
- not interested in more than friendship
- taken (I have a thing about not interfering with other people's relationships, especially since I once was on the wrong end of that equation)
- gay - it's happened recently
- on my "don't touch" list, in categories like "my best friend's ex" and "my ex's best friend"
- or something else, not covered above
Or there's bad timing, or something makes it not possible. It means I can go two, three years between meaningful relationships, I'm not talking about stuff that fizzles after a few months... And here I am, needing physical contact just to stay sane and in touch with the world. It also explains why I've been in long-distance relationships...

Enough explanation for you? ;)

Very scientific of you.

My dating problems could always be summed up as this: I dated guys who should have only been my friends, but it took me a while to figure it out. One time, specifically I ended up dating a guy because when ever he was dating someone else it intruded on our friendship time. Of course, when he told me he was dating just to make me jealous so I would realize that we should date it kind of annoyed the heck out of me.

Based on the dating problem fact, it is kind of scary that I ended up marrying someone that I was friends with for eight years before we started dating.

Oh...I have to come up with another have to justify this post!!!!!

I have only printed 10 of the 300 pictures I took this weekend.

- fallen in love with the neighbourhood it's in
- walked into an open gallery - an old cloister - to look at some abstract paintings that caught my eye
- bought five greeting cards and talked to the artist
- realized my job is within easy walking distance - go-over-during-lunch easy - of one of my favorite craft stores
- thought up a new chain game, but will wait a bit before posting it *g*
- had a deliciously ironic little adventure this morning, but that will also wait for later - gotta get back to work! :D

I was lurking to see what ya'll said about me when you thought I wasn't here. But Rustell is just too smart for me. Foiled again! :)

I am aware that I will have to change my posting patterns with my new job.

Don't you hate it when your job gets in the way of playing chain games?

Alpaca, my ex-husband was from Lebanon. ...okay...well...this may take some time to explain. My dad has a farm and raises horses. Zinnick was born to one of his horses, Sandaubbi. She was mine from the time she was conceived. Anyhow, I was there when she was born. I treated her as my child when she was a colt, played with her...well...spoiled her, to be more precise. I named her Willow. But as she grew, the "spoiledness" became more and more apparent. She acted like a spoiled child and my ex husband would call her a Zinnick (though pronounced more like the way you spelled it, with more of a "gh" sound at the end of the word that a hard "ck"). The name kind of stuck, and I think I just "anglicized" it into Zinnick. Of course, now that you say it means something icky....that could very well be why he called her that. He never really cared for the horses.
So, translated this to me...he used to say something like:

"un nrubut ya zinigh" and "tel hasteezi ya zinnigh"

I learned a little arabic while married to him, but never these two phrases, which he refused to translate to me!

oooh.. personal family secrets... okay, i'll play only because my mom won't read this.. she's very embarrassed by some things... the rest of us are amused by that... ;)

i have:

a third cousin (i think that is the relation...) who was a mass murderer.. there is even a book written about him....

an aunt who suffers from munchausen's syndrome by proxy... well, her daughter suffered, until she was taken away...

a cousin who has a baby by her ex-boyfriend, but is with her 'new' boyfriend who thinks it is his... she gave the baby up for adoption to her sister because she is quite developmentally immature (she's 19 and will never progress beyond a 7 year old's maturity...) the 'new' boyfriend is quite the same as she is, a little slower than most... the baby is half chinese and he isn't... he never put the two together... <shrug> everyone's happy now though...

hm.. i think that is it... laugh... yeah, only three that i can think of now... ;) my mom freaks out whenever anyone mentions the mass murderer...

Oooh! I like "The Family Secrets Edition!"

My Grandfather (the same one who played steel guitar with Hank Williams Sr.) was arrested for murder. Turns out all charges were dropped because the real murderer turned himself in about a month after Grandad's arrest.

My twin sister had to go to rehab for drugs when she was 16 years old! Shhhhh!!!! That's THE BIG ONE in our family! (she also got pregnant when she was 18...but her and her [then] boyfriend got married, and they're still together and happy!)

My father got into a fight when he was in the Navy and got the top of his ear bitten off. It was reattached, but it still looks odd.

I have a cousin who married a man who's IQ is like 50...(in my opinion, at least!)

I had an uncle who commited suicide. His wife then married my other uncle (the first one's brother)...and no, I don't live in West Virginia! LOL

My Gram and Grandad (same Grandad as above) adopted a little girl way back in the 1950's. When the little girl was 6 years old, the birth mother took them to court and got the child back. My Grandmother (who is now 76) has never gotten over that.

....more secrets to be posted later.....maybe ;)

My mom just called, my step-cousin got arrested last week for stealing a car, and he didn't have identification so he said he was my other cousin. Now my other cousin has to go to court and prove he isn't him or something like that. They are 31 and 32....

I have a great uncle (grandfather's brother) who's wife is younger than me. They've been married for at least ten years...

- had pictures of me nude taken on two separate occasions
- been baptized - I come from a very Catholic family
- had one minor car accident
- narrowly avoided two more due to heavy weather conditions
- been stopped twice for speeding - should have been more, I'll knock on wood...
- a very large amount of patience with a very large temper at the end of it

ooo family secrets

my stepsister 3rd child is by another man than her husband... the adults know but I'm sure the children will never get to know even though he looks completly different than his brother and sister

my inlaws... man oh man let me see if I can explain this. My husband grandmother had her fifth child with the godfather of her other children... the godfather's wife died and now he lives in the same house with the grandmother and grandfather. The godfather and grandmother do everything togethor and sit next to each other at the table etc.... but no one is sposed to talk about the fact that they are kinda a couple. (that is hard to explain and make any sense :P )

my mother is dating a man in the middle of a sex change (he dresses like a woman)

ummm i think that is enough....

How exciting, family secrets.. I have a few to add to the mix

My father was having an affair with his high school sweetheart the entire time my parents were married (35 years). My parents finally got a divorce and my dad married the other woman 3 months later.

My mom met her current boyfriend in an internet chat room.. and not just any internet chat room but an S&M one.. and yes, I am serious.

My brother got arrested for selling pot in high school. (but in his defense, it wasn’t that much pot)

My cousin was sent to a drug rehabilitation center and she checked herself out, but no one would come pick her up.. so she had to check herself back in.. (sorry, but I think that is soo funny)

No bloody bathrooms or drug busts or affairs that I know of, but..

My mother told me that she once shot out a street light with a rifle when she was on a date in high school. Woo woo- what a badass! She and her sister used to stick their baby brother with a pin while he was sleeping. They were sick of my grandmother showing favoritism because he was a boy. She still does it today. Grandmother still shows favoritism, that is. My mom and aunt have given up the pin-sticking.

Said baby brother is now in his 60's and has a 2nd wife that is younger than me. They both have susbtance abuse issues.

My dad told us that he used to smoke but quit. He said he quit after he accidently burned out the interior of his his cool plymouth with huge tail fins. Turns out he smoked secretly for years so me and my sister would not see it. We found out when mother discovered a cigarette butt on the floor of his car.

My father's brother embezzeld money from their elderly parents.

My mother has a sociopath cousin who used to go to my grandmother's house at night and bang on the walls and make noise to scare her. He would also call all night and hang up. We found out it was him when she got caller id. My uncle had the sheriff (this is in Mississippi) have a chat with the cousin and it all stopped.

But he tried to get back at us all by cutting us off from his mother. He almost starved her to death twice. She finally became a nuisance to him and my mother got her and took care of her until she died. He had her cremated and would not pay the mortuary and they would not release her ashes. He did not arrange for any kind of service, so I had to hold an memorial service for the family in Memphis. Call me Rev. Gwensmom.

I have one sister but I guess she's clean at this point.

oh daisy..????

a couple more family secrets: ( that i can't believe i forgot!!! )

my sister got taken into custody for shoplifting when she was fifteen... my parents lived out of town then and had to drive forty-five minutes into the city to pick her up at shopper's drug mart... the store rent-a-cop didn't get the police involved due to the 'nature' of the item shoplifted... she stole a home pregnancy kit.. !!! it was positive... no, i mean, the one my mom BOUGHT after, was positive... the result is ten years old and my wonderful sensitive niece kaitlyn!!!! funny, my sister likes to bring up the mass murderer but hates it when i tell people about her little run-in!!! rofl!!!

my husband's mother is really his grandmother... well, i guess technically, his mother is really his sister.... here goes:
~his biological mom, debbie, is his second oldest sister... she was about 18 when she had the boys (hubby and his twin) but when they were around four she decided to leave the province and wanted to give them up... her mother and father adopted chris and ken, making his mom his sister and his grandmother his mom... course, he isn't biologically related to his 'father' either, he isn't really his grandfather- he is his mother (grandmother)'s second husband, not really debbie's dad... making his aunt (oldest sister) fully his aunt, but his other aunt (youngest older sister) only a half-aunt... but they are his 'sisters' anyhow, so... he has three nephews and a niece all right around his age, as his oldest aunt/sister had four kids in just under four years!!! umm.. his mom (grandmother) was adopted out when she was born, along with HER twin brother, so we dont' know who HER biological father was (though she did meet her bio mother about ten years ago, she passed away two years ago or so) and we dont' know who my hubby's biological father is (she never even told her mother and father, so...) as for his mom (grandmothers)'s first husband, nobody talks about him.... apparently he is something else entirely...

EVERYBODY GOT THAT??????? heh heh...

- had a friendship blur into a relationship once. We'd been friends six years and dated for one
- avoided this happening a second time (btw, don't you hate it when a good friend starts to hit on you? When you're not attracted back?)
- dated two guys I'd met on a dance floor while moshing my ass off - and married one of them.
- dated someone 3 years younger than me
- dated someone 15 1/2 years older than me
- dated someone ~exactly~ my age - 2 days difference...
- put up with more than I ever believed was possible from the man I shared my life with on account of being in love and committed.
- decided this had better never happen to me again.
- already mentioned some dating-and-relationship related factoids earlier in this thread and will not repeat them

- dated someone 15 1/2 years older than me

Oh, try to get that competitive with adding the half...

He was... 15 years, 11 months and 17 days older than me...

-have dated someone that I met on a business trip that my dad took me on (my dad, being a single guy, always took me when he got a business trip for him and spouse)
-have flown on a 2 hour flight three times a month for the long distance relationship that became of it.
-dated coworkers 6 times
-gone on a first date that included a plane ride
-skinny dipped (that is dating related)
-dated a guy who had initially approached me on behalf of his friend
-dated outside of my race, and been quite surprised that people living in the 1990's still had issues with that.
-oh this one's kind of funny. prearranged the end of a relationship with the person I was starting the relationship with. It was one of those very volitale things were we had this immense attraction, but really didn't have anything in common and disagreed on everything. And, i was only 18 at the time, so I asked, Well, what are we going to do, we'll drive eachother crazy being together, but it feels wrong to just walk away. So we decided, we would put our best effort into making something of our feelings, and if it didn't seem to work by X date, that would be that. On X date we got together and both shook our heads and walked away.

I have thought that Veronica's Love Bug was male, which confused the heck out of me when I read her bisexuality post.

Just an overly hetero assumption on my part....my little sheltered world.

I have just gotten a huge kick out of watching Veronica's Love Bugs little avatar guy dance along to the music I am playing.

I HAVE just came in from the office. I have to pack up a few things and get moving. I have a six hour drive ahead of me. (My company is so cheap! They wouldnt even pay for a plane ticket. I do get reimbursed for my milage, though.) I hate it when they spring these "emergancy" weekend jobs on me!!!
So...I'm off. Hopefully the weather will be nice, as I'll be outside quite a bit!

Bye everyone!!!!

Oh, and Gwensmom, yes, Pete Burns sang You Spin Me Right Round...like a record baby, right round, round round................

I have just smiled hugely when I saw Rustell's Yahoo, MSN and AIM name...
Something to do with French slang and rather difficult to explain. But I'll try.

When a French kid - usually the kind that hang around in parking lots and such - says, "Eh, z'y vas!" (pronounced exactly like it looks, with a silent 's'), it means, "Awww, come on, man!". This is so wide-spread that a friend of mine calls those kids 'zyva's... It doesn't translate too well, but I thought it was funny.

Erhm. Anyway. Rustell's not the only one easily amused. *wink*

I have decided not to get into a dating-facts competition with Rustell, because she wins anyway. I've had a rather boring life, relationships-wise.

I have posted blinkers, just for the heck of it, again :

I have realized that being happily married and easily voted as the couple most UNLIKELY to cheat by friends and family, that I like to remember my dating history and live vicariously through my own memories.

I have realized that I took my lunch two hours later than usual because I was playing in the forums.

I have realized that I have surpassed Cuilanië for today's top posters, but figure she will pass me up when I go home from work.

I have determined that it is odd that I feel the need to tell you that I will be out in the sunshine for most of this weekend and not able to keep up with my daily average.

I have just called my grandmother at 1:37pm to tell her Happy Birthday.

I have just learned that one of my former employers (from 4 years ago)passed away a month ago today. And feel very odd about it. He wasn't some one that I was particually fond of, but am still saddened when anyone passes on.

I have decided to add this line because I didn't want to end my post on a downer.

hmm.. on relationships...

-- I have dated 2 guys at the same time
-- I have dated the same guy on 2 different occasions.. It was really weird. We started dating and then went home for the summer, never spoke or saw eachother for 3 months, and then when school started back, we got back together like nothing had happened.
-- I have a long standing agreement with a male friend that if we aren't with someone by the time we are 30, we will be with eachother.
-- I have taken an ex to court, because he owed me money (I won by the way)
-- I have broken up with someone by dropping them off at a bus station and demanded they leave town (admitedly, that was really mean.. but he really hurt my feelings)
-- I have had "relations" with ex's long after we have broken up

Cuilanië

When I first got on the net in the very early 90's I couldn't decide on a screen name, so I flipped the dictionary to the very last page and found

zyzzyva: an american plant eating weevil.

...and that is the name I was known by in all things internet until I decided to just be me....

-- I have had "relations" with ex's long after we have broken up
I am thinking (hoping) that this is pretty common. I've done it a couple of times myself.

It's an amazing coincidence, but it still cracks me up. Sorry! -_-
I'm liveparadox almost everywhere else, since my college days - I used someone else's internet access before that... I'd tried being myself (sort of, I'd used my old nickname), but It doesn't really describe me.

I have, therefore, used the same old username on countless occasions, or variations thereof.

i have:

~dated someone who was over twice my age... i was 19 and he was forty... worse than that, in my mother's opinion, was that he was a drummer... he looked good in spandex, what can i say??? ;)

~never dated anyone younger than me until my husband- he is 23 months younger than me... i guess that is what was wrong all along with my relationships, i wasnt' meant to be with an old(er) man!!!

~just realized that my ex, doug, will be fifty by now... kinda creeps me out actually... hm...

~never dated a friend's exboyfriend... i had one of my best friend's ex's ask me out and was almost begging me to go out with him (i still havent' figured out the why in that.. lol) anyhow, i told him that i didnt do that, date friend's exes, and he said 'well, you dated my best friend, and *I* don't care...' man logic i guess...

~ended a relationship because i found the guy 'boring' when i wasn't drunk...

~been with my husband for seven years, and i don't drink anymore.. he must be very interesting.. heh heh...

~had a relationship with a married man, whom i did NOT know was married... until he brought his kids by the pub he owns one day and i asked my friend sam 'oh, is it clint's weekend with the kids'?? and he just sighed and said 'i think we better talk......' anyhow, i am still great friends with clint, but we definitely were not meant to be together... my hubby likes him, but acts kind of protective when we are around him... <shrug>

~slapped a man full force across the face... he was my boyfriend at the time and his friend liked me and was trying to convince me that cameron was cheating on me... well, it worked (i was drunk.. hard to believe) and when cameron came into the room, i slapped him... he had a handprint there for most of the night... i felt pretty bad, considering...

~played hard to get

~been hard to get

~been easy to get

One more dating tidbit?

I have played hard-to-get when I wasn't that interested.
I have been easy to get when I was truly attracted.
I have an easy-going approach to sex. I don't give a shit about the "make 'em wait" theory. Life is precious, don't waste it.
I have gotten rid of most of the inhibitions my mother passed on to me ( Catholics...)
I have spent the evening kissing a guy in a bar, then walked out without even asking for his name.
I have taken one guy to my place on our first (and only) meeting.
I have gone back to a guy's place on a first date.
I have gotten plastered enough once to make out with a good friend. We never talked about it afterwards, and I think he hopes I've forgotten.
I have broken up by letter and been answered by email.
I've been dumped on the phone.
I've been plagued for a year and a half by an ex who wouldn't believe I was serious when I told him we were through - all the way to the suicide threat on Valentine's Day. I got so flaming mad at that guy, I wrote him a scorching letter and had a friend deliver it because I'd have hit him. He got the message.
I have moved internationally because of a relationship. (duh!)
I have been cheated on.
I have never cheated on a partner.

Guess I'm not so boring after all! ;)
