Do you dress up for Halloween?
IF my friend Stella has her annual party, then absolutely! Sadly, I just got an email today saying that her party is cancelled, so I’m ceasing plans. For passing out treats, I might wear a silly hat.
What do you plan to do this year?
We’re decorating like fiends! At least that’s the plan. John doesn’t like Christmas much, I don’t like Thanksgiving, we both adore Halloween, mostly b/c it’s in October. We’re doing a scary scarecrow for the front yard (a la The Legend of Sleepy Hallow), carving pumpkins, etc.
If you do dress up, what do you plan to be?
Pout. See the first one.
What's your favorite costume that you ever personally wore?
Easy! Last Halloween, my best friend and another friend and I dressed up as the Sanderson sisters from Hocus Pocus. We won best costume. It was a blast, we were adorable, etc. Too bad I never got a picture of it. That reminds me…
The best that you have seen?
The year before that, I went as a vampire with a dominating streak. There ARE pics of that (http://bohemianwench.home.att.net/Halloween01.jpg). Anyway, I ended up winning half of best couple, with a guy I didn’t go with, who brought a date! He was a FABULOUS vampire. Very suave. Oh! And the time Steve came as Shaft… very tall white guy… shaved his head and got such good makeup that people seeing the pics later were SURE he was black. I actually thought for a second, “oh, Steve is going to be pissed… someone else wore the same costume.” There are always good costumes at that party… Gomez & Morticia Addams, pirates, guys in drag. Lots of fun
Do you do any of the haunted houses, haunted corn maze things?
claustrophobic, slightly afraid of the dark. So, not really. I worked in one once, and it was a blast. Last time I went through one, I stepped on a nail and had to get a tetanus shot.

Do you dress up for Halloween?
Sometimes...
What do you plan to do this year?
Sadly, I don't have many friends in the area yet (just moved), so I'm going to probably go out with my boyfriend and my other friend and see a midnight horror flick or something (which is my fav thing to do on ANY night anyway, not just Halloween). I hope they show something cool around here!
If you do dress up, what do you plan to be?
I was thinking about being an owl/bird thing...but funds are low, so I might have to go as something a little more practical and cheap!
What's your favorite costume that you ever personally wore?
I was a crayon when I was in preschool... I'm going to try and find the picture and post it because it was the cutest thing my mom ever made me! One kid did knock me over and try to draw with my head though... :(
The best that you have seen?
My boyfriend's little sister makes the most beautiful Victorian dresses and corsets. She's only 16, but since she's been about 14, she's gotten a little goth, so there's a vampire twist to them now...they are the most beautiful dresses/outfits that I've ever seen. She's got so much talent. Everything is authentic, as far as historical style goes... I swear, these thngs are as good as you'd see in the movies or in a high class theater company.
Do you do any of the haunted houses, haunted corn maze things?
No, not usually.

Halloween was very recently imported from the US, which kind of sucks (I hate commercial holidays), but it's being turned into something fun that doesn't interfere too much with local folklore. It's only loosely tied to witches and pumpkins -- the main interest of it is to wear a costume and party!
Still, the only people I've really seen putting an effort in costumes are my fellow designers. The others are mor einterested in the partying than the disguising *g*
Given the enormous success of last year's totally improvised Halloween party (http://www.cedarseed.com/articles/halloween2002.html), we plan on striking again in the same place with even more evil disguises. They're going to involve lots of leather and Oakleys (and if we can find a way to do it without hurting anyone in the crowd, some kung fu antics). Can you guess? ;)

One kid did knock me over and try to draw with my head though...
Okay. I literally spit on my screen when I laughed at that. Geez. Good thing I'm at work. Oh, I'm going to be laughing at that image for days.
Great pictures Crazycat and Alpaca! Thanks for sharing!
Do you dress up for Halloween? Yes. And we started doing those Murder Mystery parties last year. I finally gave up and let my inner geek win and bought one...and got hooked. So we dressed up a few times a year.
What do you plan to do this year? Now that I work at a community center I will be foregoing our usual Halloween party since I will be throwing one for the community. This is a "family" party so I don't know what my costume will be.
If you do dress up, what do you plan to be? See above. I have a collection of costumes now, so I'll probably recycle.
What's your favorite costume that you ever personally wore? A few years ago I really liked the Punisher comic. I was dating a guy who was really creative when it came to costumes, so he put together a female Punisher costume for me (there was one in one of the comic books). He painted the emblem on a vinyl suit and was kind enough to track down an army jacket for me for when I wanted to hide. I'm not really a vinyl bared midriff catsuit wearing type of girl. I did get asked out excessively that night...but I still couldn't wait to get out of the vinyl and let me skin breath. Anyway, he did the hair and make up and all and it was a kick-a** outfit.
The best that you have seen? The first time I saw the Wizard of Oz theme. There was a family that had the Dorothy, Lion, Scarecrow and Tin Man. They even had a real little ToTo dog and they were pulling around a house ontop off witch legs. It was all home-made. Or...the bf above did himself a Doc Holiday costume, he did some amazing stuff with redish eyeliner and powder to make him look sick. Or...my sister-in-law made my niece a Sally costume from the Nightmare Before Christmas and it was fantastic.
Do you do any of the haunted houses, haunted corn maze things? I might do one a year, but I really don't enjoy a good scare, and the man with the chainsaw always targets me...he can see the fear in my eyes....

Do you dress up for Halloween? YES! Its my favorite part of the holiday, actually. I'm still 14 so I can even still get away with trick or treating, because I'm really short and I'm so spirited nobody can say no to giving me their sugar!
What do you plan to do this year?
I'll either take my little sister trick or treating, or go with some of my friends and have a 6 hour shaving cream war... or just go to my friend Nicoles house and do some weird dorky thing. Actually, right when I get home from school I'm handing out candy to the babies. Thats my second favorite part of halloween!
If you do dress up, what do you plan to be?
I'll probably go to school wearing my Emily the Strange NeeShee cat ears sweatshirt and so will everybody else I chill with, and we'll all be ESP... except in our case, ESP won't stand for Emily Strange Posse... we prefer to go by "Extra Special People". Lol... and we're going to spray paint out hair fun colors... but we always do that.
Then, when I get home, I'll change into my elfy dress thing that my Daddy promised to buy me, and throw a sword over my shoulder, and go as some sort of freaky warrior elf princess type thing. If nobody can tell what I am, I'll still have a cool dress and a sword! Everybody wins!
What's your favorite costume that you ever personally wore?
Probably my Gypsy costume. I made it last year. I had a nice dress that I made and it was all freaky and had stars and looked so authentic, and I had a ton of mardigras beads around my neck, and this head peice thing that was pretty cool. Everybody complemented me, so I was proud... and I won a contest, too! I ended up changing into pajamas around 9'0clock like I always do, but it was still great during the day.
The best that you have seen?
One of my Karate teachers dressed up as a giant target for halloween, and everyone was going up to him and kicking him! And this guy Danny always dresses up as his cousin, and he does his makeup and hair and everything so good, it's hard to tell he's not!
Do you do any of the haunted houses, haunted corn maze things?
I scare too easily, and I'm too easily frustrated. I'd rather just walk around outside and look at the pretty deorations... or decorate myself.

What's your favorite costume that you ever personally wore?
Probably my Wonder Woman underroos when I was a kid. We, my sisters and I, wore (the three of us went as the same thing) tights and long shirts under them and ran around the neighborhood.
The best that you have seen?
I think most of them are great, but one guy last year had on a red las vegas pimp outfit. The funny thing was that he was around 50 years old and had this huuuuge hat and a lot of gold jewlery.
Do you do any of the haunted houses, haunted corn maze things?
We are going to Davis Farmland to go to their maze, which isn't haunted during the day, but does have a toilet hidden inside. Apparently you are supposed to bring water because you can get lost for a long long time :)

I was rasied pagan so Halloween was always fun at my house... my mom thought it was a fun holiday.... so I always had a halloween party. In forth grade my parents used our huge unfinshed apartment area in our house to make this great haunted house! It was soo much fun.

What do you plan to do this year?
As far as celebrating, my friend is having a "swaree" (ha, that's spelled so wrong) and i'll go trick-or-treating of course!! (17 yr olds can trick-or-treat too!)
If you do dress up, what do you plan to be?
For the party, I'm going as Samara Morgan from The Ring (i.e. hair over the face dead girl). For trick-or-treating, not sure... maybe Hermione Granger...

Do you dress up for Halloween? sometimes...it depends if I am going out with others that are dressing up or if I am passing out candy or what.
What do you plan to do this year? I might go out with a few friends to show off my 15 month goddaughter in her bear outfit.
If you do dress up, what do you plan to be? I have a renisance(sp?) princess outfit.
What's your favorite costume that you ever personally wore? I can't really remember many of my outfits. I know that I was a cat, a toddler, a farmer girl (I was 7!), a hobo, and a witch. I think one of my favs was a gypsy. I wore one of my moms dresses (I think I was about 12), and I had a ton of necklaces that I got from the goodwill and some big clip on earrings. My mom put a ton of makeup on me and sairsprayed my hair all up. I looked really kewl.
The best that you have seen? My brother was a homemade Ninja Turtle once. My mom made him a shell out of 2 pieces of cardboard. I love the his and hers plug/outlet costume.
Do you do any of the haunted houses, haunted corn maze things? I like the corn mazes....not too keen of the houses.

Do you dress up for Halloween?
I used to dress up for halloween all the time when i was little...i haven't really gotten into it as much since i've gotten older...but i might start up again since i've been invited to some halloween parties :)
What do you plan to do this year?
Well...I get several days of Halloween this year...just like the last 3 years :P...the amusement park that i work at goes all out for halloween, they call it Halloweekends(we're only open during the weekends now) They have lots of halloween shows, kids come in dressed up in their costumes and they have a trick or treat village set up for them...they have people walking around in some neat costumes...i think the funniest one i've seen would have to be these goofy lookin trolls w/ rather large heads...they have even decided to open their own haunted houses this year inside the park, one for adults and one for children...anyways....it's my fav time to work there...other than that i have a few choices for the actual halloween day...i've been invited to a couple parties...or i could pass out candy to children...either way i'm thinkin about dressin up
If you do dress up, what do you plan to be?
I haven't really thought about it yet...i'll probably start thinkin about it more in a couple weeks
What's your favorite costume that you ever personally wore?
hmmm....well when i was little i used to be obsessed w/ dracula...and one year i got to dress up like him...i thought i was the coolest! lol it would have to be a toss up between that one...and i was oscar the grouch from sesame street one year...my mom made me a trash can out of cardboard, and spray painted it silver...then i had a trash bag suit that was filled up w/ newspaper, and my face was painted green...i wish i had picture of that one...i was adorable lol
The best that you have seen?
I saw this drag queen last year who was lookin like the bride of frankenstein...the make-up...the hair...the dress...she looked like the real thing...it was cool lol
Do you do any of the haunted houses, haunted corn maze things?
I haven't done one of the corn maze things in years...but i usually try and go to at least one of the haunted houses every year...i think they're fun...plus i don't scare easily...my friends that do, enjoy goin w/ me since it's not as scary i guess...i have fun in em...one year i tried talkin a wolf into following us through the rest of the haunted house...he followed us to the stairwell then said he couldn't go any further lol. Oh the stories i could tell you! :D lol

Do you Dress Up for Halloween?
Does one need to ask?! Duh.
What do you plan to do this year?
Hm. Kinda stumped. NOT going to the Castro.
May party. I hope to.
That all revolves around Turkeys, believe it or not.
If you Dress up, What do you Plan to Be?
I am pondering appliances. I have a demon appliance, and Elven ears, and fangs... I can pretty much run with it from there. Am also pondering a Zombie.
What is your favorite costume that you ever personally wore?
Two years ago. I Had some good gothpunk stuff ( black schoolgirl skirt, tallboots, striped tights, a great tanktop, and all my spikes). I braided my hair the night before so when I let it down it was poufy like a perm- then place white stripes like the Bride of Frankenstein. I then palefaced and went mad with eyeliner, mascara lipstick and all the fun stuff. I have no pics, but I wound up looking very much like a Living Dead Doll.
The Best Costume You've seen?
Well, going to the Castro totally kicks up your costume sightings.
I've seen the ENTIRE Strawberry Shortcake ensemble, hoards of dragqueens, and a man wearing a mask and nothing else. But some of the best I've seen were ones my own friends have done- Tyler Durden ( complete with bruise and cigarette) and Ash from Evil Dead ( with Chainsaw Hand!)
Do you do any of the haunted houses, haunted corn maze things?
You bet your sweet bippy! I adore Haunted houses. I love being scared. I love hayrides, Corn mazes... I love the whole fall element!
you all are getting me so excited! aak!
