hey everyone,
i am just wondering what the big deal is about having more than one PIF thread? it seems that we own nervousness and can do what we want to with it. as long as people keep track of what they sign up for, shouldn't we be able to have as many PIF threads going as we want? i am responding to the closing of one of the PIF threads because it was not deemed official. please correct me if i am thinking about this incorrectly, but it seems kind of strange to me to be halting activity, even for the sake of keeping things organized.

Hmmm. They were closed at first because they weren't in the same place and it was not only messy and unecessary, but confusing to keep track of. We (The Board of Directors) have already talked about it and for now, all the PIF threads except for one are going to stay closed. I didn't close the thread because it wasn't deemed official, I closed it because it got re-opened by mistake.

but who has to keep track other than the people participating? and what makes more than one pif thread messy and unnessesary?
you know - i just realized that you could be talking about making a section JUST for pif, which i think was a fabulous idea, bc now it can always be found. what i still don't get though, is the desire to break it all down into one thread of activity. and the fact that one was closed (or more) but others are still open, even though they are not "official".
i appreciate your dialogue with me redandpink - it is the root of this issue that most concerns me, much more so than the content. to see people write things that sound like "this exchange might not be valid anymore because this thread is not the official thread" really made me feel upset - it was like they thought they could not complete their goodhearted transaction just because a decision was made to close the thread... and that kind of blind commitment to authority seems scary to me - and also seems to be the antithesis of nervousness.

No one has to keep track except the people participating. But, when there were 4 PIF threads going at the same time it was confusing because some people played in more than one of the threads, and then forgot about what they owed. I played in a lot of them and never got my parts of the PIFs, I attributed it partially to the fact that there were 4 threads and some people didn't want to weed through 20 some pages of PIFs to find out what they owed and who they owed it to.
Also, a lot of the replies in the PIFs were 'bumps', so that the thread would get moved to the top of the forum where everyone would see it.

The excess threads are closed so that everyone can play together in the same thread, and it's a lot less confusing for everyone.
I don't know what you mean by this:
and the fact that one was closed (or more) but others are still open, even though they are not "official".
They are ALL closed, except for the PIF twist thread, the official PIF thread, and now this one.

I stated that the PIFs that took place are still to be carried out in the same thread where you read that. It's there because when the PIFs were moved they somehow got unlocked and no one noticed. People started playing in one of them, and then we noticed it and closed it back up.

Folks, there is a second issue relating to closing some of the PIF threads, and that is one of technical stability. Some of the older threads were not displaying replies properly, which is an absolute pain in the arse in a PIF thread.
Also, please accept my apologies for not noticing that the closed threads had reopened when I moved them.

I'm going to lock this thread. I'm sorry that we can't please everyone all the time.
