I think I'll spend my whole life looking for a meaning... *sigh*

Maybe I should read that book...

I think that the meaning of life is finding something to believe in, something that you are passionate about, something bigger than yourself, something that fills you with fire and letting that fire fuel you and motivate you and inspire you in the big powerful ways, and in the tiny, little things.

I think I've figured it out: the "meaning" of life is being able to look above all the mundane things we hve to do every day just to keep going, like paying bills, going to work, driving at rush hour, etc and see all the wonderful things like nature, art, and everything else that's wonderful to you. And also run-on sentences.

well, I've narrowed it down to *that* and knowing at all times where your towel is. :-D ( I dig Hitchhiker's Guide) :-D

"The Meaning of Life" - I've been asking that question for quite some time now & I still haven't figured it out but I know I will, eventually (:

There isn't one.

If you like, you may read that as "there isn't one" or "there isn't just one" - any meaning you decide to find in your life must be your own.

But personally, I think life is more interesting if it doesn't have a "meaning" per se.

the meaning of life, i suggest, is to do something with it (with your life that is) that winds up leaving this place a little better off than it was before you got here.

I tend to think life is little more than an amusement park for the spirit ;)

well- I believe that in the rational, animal sense the meaning of life is to create more life. I mean, there has to be a reason God created Rabbits, yes?

But It seems that just being- living, experiencing, enjoying life is what it is all about. I mean, you can go either way ( good or bad egg ) but as long as you enjoy your life, then I say you're doing it right.

I got a kick out of this site on the Meaning of Life. Of course, I am fond of sarcasm and dry wit.

I guess the meaning of life depends upon the language of one's soul. What language does your heart speak?? Once you know that, the meaning will probably fall over you like lavender buds...

There are so many languages -- sometimes I go out in the streets late at night just to listen to them. Makes life eternally mysterious and wonderful!

The simple fact that life is - that's meaning enough for me. The complexity, the challenge, new things every day... I'm not making any sense, but that's OK.

Life is.

"Enlightenment Is: Do what you want and eat what there is."
-Jack Kerouac

that's been my personal motto for about 11 years now.
I'm seeing a similarity to this in the posts of Hammerquill & Alpaca.
Right on!

bumping this one back up to the top because I want to hear some more answers!!!

I am grumpy blue today -- life just means eating and sleeping and dying and walking around the other beasts on the street...

but I'm just a crayon....what do I know? ;)

A friend of mine used this quote as her email signature for a long time:

"Life is a rehearsal for a symphony that never happens"

I've often thought that the amount of order in the world is very precisely tuned - enough to inspire us to look for an overall pattern we can master, but not enough so that we ever actually find it.

This answer is too complex for my machine to grasp -- I can't bring it up.

the meaning just might be whatever you see when you look around that moves your soul and stirs your mind and makes you realize how tenuous your life is and how much is inside you to add to the color and noise of the world...

the meaning of life is to enjoy it while you can because you life is short and that occasionally horrible things have to occur to get you to your meaning.
