Gawd. It's all a conspiracy to make me clean up th place.

Monitor, speakers, scanner, printer, mousepad (round, grey, from IKEA), mouse, zip drive. On the monitor is a panda designed to clean the screen. A rack of zip disks, two or three stacks of zips and floppies. Several CDs and CD-Rs. (The keyboard is in a slide-out drawer underneath, and the cpu is on the floor.)

Stuck to the monitor are a Chimay ale cap (champagne style), a microphone, and a return address label from someguy. Currently sitting on the scanner are two books I bound, two small plates and a bowl, my journal from my M.A. year in England, my stereo remote, and most of the cool doodads from littlebird's 20things lmao.

On the table itself are also two collapsing stacks of ATCs (a few mine, most from Nness), a tape measure, three pens, (one made from a reed), several grabber screws, an expired Costco card, a Calvin&Hobbes strip, at least one bookmark, several 1000journals stickers, dental floss, a padded envelope, a photograph of the side of York Minster I scanned a while ago, a pushpin, a jar of gold leaf ground, another jar with scraps of gold leaf in it, an agate burnisher for gold leaf, a can of Kerns Nectar (strawberry banana), a reduction xerox of a dollar bill, a small notebook that belongs in my car - so that's where it is - a receipt from Trader Joe's, a pint glass, two small brushes, a bag of Fun Yet ATC slipcases (dontcha just love that name?), and a telephone.

I'm not even going to start on what's strewing the floor around the computer table...

On the window sill behind the desk, you can just see a small shrine to creatvity and two candle holders. The string of beads in the window is on the bottom of a hanging candle holder that I use to send the light of hope and peace into the world.

eek! I don't even have a desk! Luckily I have a laptop, so I use my kitchen table or just sit on the couch. On my table right now I have my powerbook (obviously), an old MP3 player, a cordless phone sitting there (to remind me to call AOL and cancel it because I just got my wireless DSL up!!!!), a book of notes and phone messages, four candles, a stack of bills, a book of stamps (to mail the bills!), and last, but o least, a San Francisco bus system map. Oh yeah, and I have two chairs at my table that I just painted PINK last night. They look lovely.

At home, it's not pretty. I have my beautiful iMac, that I can't find right now because my husband cleaned the computer room and piled everything on my desk that he thought belonged to me. So there are envelopes, unopened tie-dye kits, mary kay paraphernalia, post-it notes of various neon colors, pencils, pens, papers, papers, and more papers that have to be sorted through at some time in the near future . . . (I will join procrastinators anonymous . . . tomorrow . . .), then of course, there is cat hair from where our 3 cats tried to attack the computer mouse . . . there are various CDs scattered among the 3.5 disks, there is a video camera still sitting there from my video class last semester . . . (I'm doing all this from memory and now realizing why my husband is so adamant about me needing to clean my desk . . .) There is also various retro stuff in the empty spots, like miniature volkswagon bugs, hippie stickers and peace signs on the back of the bookshelf that butts up against my computer desk and a beaded curtain that hangs down behind the desk. But whatever you do, DONT OPEN THE DRAWERS!!!

As for the work desk -- I just don't think we'll go there.
