Hey all! I'm not sure if this has been done before, it probably has, and that's where I got the idea from! Anyway, what you have to do is answer the question the person before you asked, then leave a question for someone else to answer! Easy!
Ok, here's mine:
What do you like most about nervousness?
ninerfan_11
07-13-2003, 03:51 PM
OOh... such a cool idea.
So, well, the best thing about Nervousness is the mysteriousness of it all. So many people who don't really know one another all sharing their art and trusting that others will fairly share theirs.
My question: What do you think the best and most original ideas were to ever originate here at Nervousness? (that doesn't mean you had to be a participant)
FearfulPenguin
07-14-2003, 05:29 AM
That is such a good question, and I don't think I will be very good at answering it, but I want to try to keep this thread alive! http://nervousness.org/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Some of the best ideas here include the Graceful Envelope - I loved the idea of sending something small in a beautiful envelope! I also loved Paperdream's book of hands - i really liked that idea.
As for original, it is hard to say, as the best original ones are usually used again and again by others!
My question: What would be your perfect day?
littlest-bee
07-14-2003, 07:49 AM
My perfect day would involve the following:
waking up when I'm ready (no alarm clock!) and lying in bed with the sun streaming through the open window, preferably with my man!
lazy breakfast at a cafe involving good fresh coffee and croissants and the crossword.
wandering through town and checking out an art gallery and mooching in a bookshop.
stopping for yet more coffee in a street cafe, people-watching and chatting.
a bit of time for my nervousness stuff!
in the evening I'd like to cook together, something yummy, and drink wine and curl up on the sofa. Then off to bed...!
Hmmm, all sounds perfectly perfect!
Here's my question: are you happy?
littlebird
07-14-2003, 08:05 AM
it's relative I guess. I'm happier than i was three months ago. I'm happier than some people. I'm not as happy as I could be. But nothing is making me miserable and I have things to look forward to and people who love me. So I guess, yes, to an extent, I am happy. But because of all the changes in my life, I think I would describe my current mindset as nervous- no pun intended!
question: if you could relive any moment in your life, what would it be?
ninerfan_11
07-14-2003, 12:20 PM
Ok, here I go hogging this thread....
Well, I would relive my junior year high school prom. I went with my best friend, Joy, and I don't think I've ever had a night quite like that. We danced and had so much fun. I don't think it's even possible to have as much fun with anyone else... so I'd definitely want to relive that.
Question: Who is your best friend, for how long has he/she been, and why?
Alpaca
07-14-2003, 12:34 PM
My best friend is a guy who lives in the US but is originally Lebanese. He found me online back in 97, and he came to lebanon for an extended stay in 2000 -- that's when we became real close. Nothing romantic, just the truest of kinships. Despite the fact I've only seen him 4 times since, he's closer to me than a brother.
My question:
What do you notice first when you meet someone?
namelessgirl
07-14-2003, 12:36 PM
My best friend is also (conveniently) my husband.
We were friends for several years before dating and have no been involved (romantically) for 4 1/2 years. Married for 1 and a half.
I've had an interesting childhood/life but always bottled things away, preferring to repress things rather than deal with them, no matter how much further harm that can end up causing. he was the first person that i really opened up to, that took the time to listen.
my question: top 5 cds that you like to listen to while crafting/creating?
namelessgirl
07-14-2003, 12:37 PM
whoops. we posted at the same time http://nervousness.org/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

5 cds to listen to while crafting:
1 interpol-turn on the bright lights.
2 anything by sleater-kinney.
3 pete yorn-music for the morning after.
4 sigur ros-()
5 mix cds!
next question:
which came first..the chicken or the egg?
http://nervousness.org/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
BabyChee
07-14-2003, 02:07 PM
I'm going to answer both questions since people posted at the same time and we'll get back to normal. The first thing I notice about someone depends on male or female. When I first notice someone it's usually their looks and I hate to say it but I'm quick to judge, for a male if I don't like his looks I probably won't bother to get to know him, but for a girl I will try and get to know her anyways, because it is just friendship. I know that sounds really shallow, but oh well.
Which came first, the chicken or the egg....I say the egg, I believe in evolution, and some other animal layed an egg in which the thing inside was evolved from the other species.
My question:
If you could go anywhere in the world for one day, where would you go?
Dalmaney
07-14-2003, 03:19 PM
Right now, I would go to Perth, Australia and visit my sister. She's been living there (with her hubby) for about a year, and I haven't seen her since last fall. It looks so gorgeous; if I can scrape up a couple thousand travelling dollars, I need to go visit in the next few years.
My Question: Would you rather do things or have things? As in, do you spend your money and time on getting stuff or doing stuff?
eclaire
07-14-2003, 03:34 PM
http://nervousness.org/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif Well now....I like to say that I have good intentions. I come up with these ideas and then I go out and buy the supplies to make them...that is where it ends. I rarely get the finished product out there. I think that I love the idea of process. So, sad to say...I like to buy stuff! http://nervousness.org/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif I really do like to make stuff too, but the weight falls more on one side than the other. Plus, I have three 'diseases' that don't help my plot at all. I hoard, I procrastinate and I perfectinate (hee hee). When I work all that out, I'll be one producing sista! http://nervousness.org/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
My question: Do you feel like civilization is dwindling down to an end?
ninerfan_11
07-15-2003, 09:41 PM
Nope, I don't think it is. (Sorry, such a lame answer, but I had to get this thread movin....)
My question: Who are you closer with, your mother or father, and why do you think this is?

lets see...where do i see myself in 10 years? i see myself in a relationship w/ a girl who cares a lot about me...in a career i enjoy...and starting a family would be nice too :D
what is your fav childhood memory?
littlest-bee
07-16-2003, 03:07 AM
...its a mixture of happy memories from a dozen summers but it was the first thing that came to mind!
...playing in my back garden with my little brother, we hopped the neighbour's fence and stole beans, we climbed our trees (we had one each) and talked to each other through yoghurt pots on string, we kept rabbits and scrambled in wild grass that grew above our waists...
Next question:
Do you love yourself?
FearfulPenguin
07-16-2003, 09:38 AM
Do I love myself? Most of the time, the answer to that question is no. But I am getting better. I used to hate myself. Now, i'm somewhere between dislike and thinking i'm okay. I have major self-confidence issues. BUT I do think that I am a generally likeable person, or at least I try to be! I find trusting people hard, which means I find close friendships hard. At least, that's why I assume I haven't managed to make many close friends at uni. I would like to love myself, and am working on it. I just need to tell the bad voices to shut up! :)
My question:
What makes you happy?
ninerfan_11
07-16-2003, 09:40 AM
Nice, long, in-depth conversations with close friends make me happy.
My question: What is your biggest pet peeve?
Fenchurch
07-16-2003, 11:25 AM
due to current events: drivers that don't stop (or even slow down) at zebra crossings.
What kind of art (ie painting, photo, sculpture...) is on display in your house?
Glait
07-16-2003, 11:27 AM
When people tell me simple common sense things I already know. It makes me feel like they asume I'm an idiot, even though I know they think they are being helpful. Like driving lessons with my brother and he instructs me not to hit the other car, becouse of course if he didn't I would of sped up and go ramed it <_<
If you could only have one person in your life, who would you choose?

A:
If I could only have one person in my life, it would be me of course. How could I have a life without me?
Just kidding.
I would have to say that if I could just have one person, it would be the one person who loves me unconditionally for me and who is my best friend (even though we have nothing in common except for life and are complete opposites): my husband.
Q: Are you slow to tell your true thoughts about your religious, spiritual, and/or philosophical beliefs to most people you know and why?
Dalmaney
07-16-2003, 12:13 PM
I can be a little reserved about discussing my religious beliefs with people I know. It's mostly because I find people think it's impossible to be a Christian that also works in science. People seem to assume that my answer to everything will just be "God did it.", and that somehow my scientific understanding is sub-par just because I don't buy every theory that's currently en vouge. Also, so many people have been put off church-y people (I would classify myself as a pretty churched person) by past experience, that I prefer to lead by quiet example as opposed to outspoken speech.
I'm not really sure how much sense any of that makes... I guess in the end, it means I mostly keep quiet unless people ask me direct questions or start making ignorant comments. Otherwise I lead by example.
My question: What is your most often used phrase(s), and do you know where it came from?
philosofialogos
07-17-2003, 12:19 PM
Answer:
My most often used phrase is "Get down!" And it's directed to my cat who thinks I don't know that she's fluent in English.
"Get down" is actually a phrasal verb which means:
1. To descend.
2. To give one's attention. Often used with to: Let's get down to work.
3. To exhaust, discourage, or depress: The heat was getting me down.
4. To swallow: got the pill down on the first try.
5. To describe in writing.
6. Informal To lose one's inhibitions; enjoy oneself wholeheartedly.
Perhaps my cat is confused and thinks that, instead of meaning "to descend" from the table, I am actually asking her "to describe" the table "in writing" and have not provided her with a pen. Maybe she's waiting for me to cut the table into bite-sized chunks so that she can get it down by "swallowing" it. Maybe she's getting down to it and "giving it great attention". Perhaps she's putting on her sad kitty face as she tries to "get down" and show her sadness. But chances are that she's taking the last meaning to heart and simply "losing her inhibitions and enjoying herself wholeheartedly" on my table rather than "DESCENDING" from my table.
The word GET has Indo-European roots. It comes from Middle English geten and from the Old Norse geta
The word DOWN also has Indo-European roots. It comes from Middle English doun, from Old English -dne(as in ofdne, downwards), from dne, dative of dn, hill.

Q- if you had to pick between your best friend or your only sibling to be killed who would it be and why?
-sorry if its morbid but its a tough question to answer
Dalmaney
07-17-2003, 01:59 PM
I'm afraid my best friend would take the axe. As for why... well, my previous best friend turned out to be a total bitch. Thus, I don't have much trust in my taste in friends. I mean, I like them rather alot at the moment, but who knows what will happen tomorrow? But family is forever, even if they are pretty weird most of the time. And the family name must be upheld! I sure don't want to carry on "Oberhofer" for the rest of my life.
Q. If you could know the exact date and cause of your own death, but could do nothing to avoid it, would you want to know when it was?
namelessgirl
07-17-2003, 02:06 PM
Yes I would, I think my life would be a lot sweeter and fuller leading up to that date. I would stop acting like I'm immortal and that time doesn't matter.
Q: If you melt dry ice, can you swim without getting wet? :D
ninerfan_11
07-17-2003, 04:51 PM

Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island for 6 months, what three things would you want to have with you?
(ooh, gave me an idea for a new thread.....)
venus28976
07-17-2003, 04:58 PM
That's a tough one... I think I'd take my motivational book to keep me up when I was feeling down, a blank notebook with a pencil attached to it which makes it one item LOL, and ummmm......my best friend.
What three words describe you and why?
mejaka
07-17-2003, 05:42 PM
Three words I'm often described by others with:
Intelligent--mainly because I'm articulate and have a huge vocabulary
Free-spirited--because I do a lot of stuff most people in my subculture don't (like mail art and running around barefoot)
Tough--because I used to not cry much, though that's changed lately
Three things I'd describe myself as:
Balanced--both because I can take what I'm thrown better than a lot of people, and because I can see multiple sides of things
Tolerant--because despite having very well-defined and unusually high personal standards of morality well-known to my friends, I have many friends whose lifestyles defy those standards who choose to remain my friends
Lazy--because I am!
Who's your most eccentric relative, and why?
Dalmaney
07-17-2003, 06:00 PM
My most eccentric reliative is my mom's cousin Cheryl. I love her to bits. She went travelling Europe when she was younger (in her twenties, I think) and went home with some gyspies. She camped in parks. She's 50 now, and walks around town barefoot if she feels like it. She has the most incredibly long gray hair. She has never shaved and is not afraid to show that off. She'll change into her bathing suit on the beach. She'll drive from BC to Saskatchewan in cars normal people would be nervous taking across town.
Gosh, I love that woman.
If you could choose to forget one thing forever, what would it be?

07-17-2003, 09:17 PM
Namelessgirl!!!! Go out and start living that sweeter fuller life RIGHT NOW!!!!! You are not immortal. I repeat, you are NOT immortal! We never know when our last breath will be...don't wait. Start living NOW!!!
Dalmaney! You sound like you have a very cool relative...one I wouldn't mind having in my family tree....
Now, what was the question? ;) Ah yes. If I could forget one thing, it would be the feeling/thought of sadness.
Question: Do you really believe that man set foot on the moon?!

Yes I do.
What is your personal life philosphy?
Alpaca
07-17-2003, 09:36 PM
Personal philosophy: Nothing and noone in the world can affect the way you feel unless you allow them to.
Question: Who do you look up to?
Dalmaney
07-17-2003, 09:39 PM
If you get a chance to do something you really want to do, do it. Even if you could choose a more responisible path... do it. Have your fun while you can. Go as far as you can as often as you can. Stand up for what you believe in. Think through what you believe in long enough that you can stand up for it. Enjoy the moment. Plan ahead, but be willing to adapt your plans when you need to. Know where your towel is.
I have alot of personal philosophies.
If you could know how to do one magic spell that would really work, what would you learn?

lets see here...question....
Have you ever had a life changing experience...and if so...what was it?
ninerfan_11
07-17-2003, 10:01 PM
I think my life-changing experience came around the age of 3 or 4, when my parents divorced. It's not quite the divorce as the actual experience, but all the heartbreakings that ensued up until even just this month.
My Question: What is your philosophy on tattooing and piercings?
philosofialogos
07-17-2003, 10:05 PM
3 answers at once: (thanks to simultaneous submissions)
Magic Spell That Really Works:
To make everyone love everyone around them like they love theirself. That would put a stop to most world problems right there.
Life Changing Experience:
I learned how to think for myself. I chucked every spiritual teaching I'd ever been taught and had to prove things to myself before I would accept any of them back again. I felt completely enlightened. And that's a nice word for it: enlightenment . . . to be made light . . . a heavy load was lifted and I became my own person.
Philosophy on Tattoos & Piercings
Personally, I cannot see myself getting a tatoo. I change my taste in home decor enough to know I'd hate my choice in tatoo down the road. But, in general, I think they're fine. For some people, it's an art form and nearly permanent. I wish I were so brave! I live in Oklahoma where it's still illegal to get a tatoo, so people go across the state line to do so. Then again, lots of things are illegal in Oklahoma . . . including but not limited to having sex in any position other than missionary.
Piercings are less permanant. Therefore, I think it's easier for this soul to justify strange piercings for herself. When I was in India, I began to see nose piercings as a sign of beauty and wanted to pierce my nose so badly. But there's a generation here that wouldn't have taken me seriously with a nose ring. I considered a belly button ring, but then my co-worker (back in high school) had hers ripped out when her dog jumped up on her. No thanks.
Question:
Could there ever come a point politically or physically that would cause you to want to flee your own country? What would push you over the edge in that regard?
bluecrayon
07-17-2003, 10:23 PM
I'm almost at that point now. If anyone has read Nickel and Dimed -- On Not Getting By in America by Barbara Ehrenreich or Fast Food Nation by Eric Shlosser, one knows that our country has a serious illness in its soul. We have just attacked a crippled country which was already reeling from 12 years of sanctions, almost 200 young people from our country have died so far (mostly working class kids, of course), there is a vast feeling growing that we were lied to about the necessity for this war, this war is costing billions of dollars while the infrastructures of our cities decay, a huge tax cut has been given to the wealthy while school lunch programs are being cut and job training programs are being eliminated, thousands of teachers in my state have been given pink slips while prison guards were given a raise (they now earn more than many college professors), and people are sleeping on our streets in numbers that I would never have believed possible when I was growing up. I am drowning in the milieu and emptiness of a materialistic culture and if there were anywhere I could go, I would leave tomorrow.
My Question: To paraphrase an old Police song: When the world is spinning down, you make the best of what's still around --- what would that be???
philosofialogos
07-17-2003, 10:35 PM
BTW: Great answer. I could rant in the same direction.
Answer:
Back in high school when I was still a virgin, I thought I'd find the nearest guy and "hold tight to him" so I wouldn't die a virgin if the world was coming to an end.
Now that that's not the case, I think I'd do something outrageous like run naked through the streets, let everyone know what I really think about their religious dogma, play music really loud, and try lesbianism.
Question:
What's the one taboo you'd never do for all the money in the world?
Alpaca
07-17-2003, 11:50 PM
Re: taboo: there's more than one personal taboo nothing can make me do *g* But I'd say cigarettes. I refuse to even touch them, except to destroy them.
Question: When was the last time you had an uncontrollable fit of laughter, and why?
chunkymonkey
07-18-2003, 04:01 AM
Haha. This one is easy because it was two dasy ago. I joined this cool lmao where you are part of a bizarre three way love triangle. we are supposed to write letters to someone in the triagle. I got my assignment at about 4 am and I just couldn't stop laughing.
My assignment: You (chunkymonkey) are a circus lion. You suspect that your lion tamer - whom you are very close to - is "cheating" on you with one of the clowns. You have decided to write to your lion tamer in accusation, letting them know you will stop at nothing to find out what's really going on - and to put a stop to it.
lol I was laughing so loud and hard. My neighbors must think I am nuts. Yeah well they wouldn't be terribly wrong.
Question: How much do you REALLY think about sex each day?
Alpaca
07-18-2003, 06:29 AM
Can't be more than 10 mn unless it's actually happening
Question: How much do you think people should be thinking about sex each day??
philosofialogos
07-18-2003, 08:40 AM
Answer:
I don't think there's any prescribed amount of time that would be acceptable. But I can't believe that, as some "studies" say, men think about it several times a minute. If so, everything and everyone would have to remind them of sex. That's a little scarey when you think about the reprecussions. To lead a balanced life where you're not humping everything (like my grandmother's ambiguously sexed dog), thinking of sex maybe no more than once every 10 minutes seems to be conducive to a semi-stable life. At the other end of the spectrum, it should cross your mind at least once every 10 years. Right? Even if you're a nun?
Question:
What is the meaning of life, the universe and everything?
P.S. For you Douglas Adams fans, "42" is not an acceptable answer.
Dalmaney
07-18-2003, 10:12 AM
The meaning of life, the universe, and everything is to give us each a chance to make things right with the Man Upstairs. It's a big oppurtunity to experience love, happiness, pain, suffering. It's about learning that the most important thing in the universe is not yourself, and dealing with that. It's a giant puzzle to explore and try to piece together, for the sheer joy of discovery. And a big part of the meaning is the quest for the meaning.
What do you think is most likely to cause the end of the world as we know it?
chunkymonkey
07-18-2003, 10:29 AM
what will end the world? Stupidity.
What is the longest amount time you have ever spent without leaving your house?
cdonley
07-18-2003, 10:51 AM
When I was a kid, I was stuck inside the house for 6 days with the chicken pox!
As an adult - only three days when I was on bedrest at 34 weeks of pregnancy --- which didn't work - - baby came anyway!

My question: How old were you when you bought your first car (you - not your parents!)

A: I'm still big on colored pencils and markers... I haven't broadened my horizons quite yet.
Q: What was the last book you read, and was it worth reading?
philosofialogos
07-18-2003, 02:45 PM
Answer:
The last book I completely read was Three Junes by Julia Glass. Although it was entertaining and won an award, it's not a must-read in my opinion. Julia Glass does a great job bringing together place settings (Scotland, Greece, and New York) and topics (an artful rendering of a gay man's life) that are not too often found in modern literature. And she does paint memorable characters.
I am currently reading East of Eden by John Steinbeck. It was John Steinbeck's work of a lifetime and reads like one; he calls it his only "book". He uses very precise wording so that passages don't go on and on forever with stray words everywhere. This is an amazing feat to keep up for 600 pages. It's the type of book that you inhale. When first written, he had difficulty getting it published because the publishers said it was profane. When it finally DID get published, it won a nobel prize for literature.
I'm a book reviewing junkie. Check out the reviews on my BookCrossing BookShelf at http://www.bookcrossing.com/mybookshelf/amynsperry
Question:
If you won an all-expense paid trip for one month to any place in the world, where would you go?
nuKKe
07-18-2003, 03:25 PM
Realistically speaking, to Finland and maybe to the Baltic states. I've been dreaming about going up there for years and almost made it twice, in 1997 and 1999 but relationships prevented me from going there. I prefer to go there in the summer, cos the arctic winter scares me and I love long days. I just want to listen to the language, buy Finnish literature, get drunk on Leningrad Cowboys vodka and travel to Lapland.
Since we're in the hipothetical realm here, I'd say that visiting our neighbours up north would be interesting. I'd like to visit Syria but even more so - Lebanon (and I've been dreaming about that BEFORE getting to know Alpaca, though I'd definitely like to hang out with here while there) - Seems like there's so much in common between the countries - both being the meditteranian countries of the Mid-East, yet they are different, mainly due to political reasons. Would love to check it out and have a Mai Tai in Trader Vic's in Beirut ;)
my question:
name one religious item/ figure/ symbol that fascinates you and explain why. Any religion, any item.

Q: Do you believe in horoscopes, astrology, and the like?

q. what is your dream job?
mejaka
07-18-2003, 05:30 PM
Nope. But I have a plan to do a ten-day writing exercise involving a character who does believe in horoscopes, and the daily local newspaper...
Question: Do you hold any belief so strongly that you would die for it?
BabyChee
07-18-2003, 06:08 PM
My dream job would to be a Vet Technician. I love working with animals, but I wouldn'T trust myself to be the actual vet, there's just much to much information and things lying in your hands. But I love helping out with the animals, and assisting the vet. Though I can't do this cause my math and science skills are terrible.

Question: Do you hold any belief so strongly that you would die for it?
A: it's not really a belief, but, well, okay it is... I absolutely despise men who mentally and physically abuse women. If the extreme situation arose, I might have a reason to die....
Question
How do u like to eat avocado?
A: well, I've never eaten one so I don't know.
My Question...
What fruit would you be if you had to be one, and why?

07-18-2003, 06:53 PM
In answer to your question: What is the last book you read etc. The last book I've read is the nonfiction book...."Mafia Wife" by Linda Milito. Really worth reading instead of watching "The Sopranos"
My question is this: Why do people put so much importance on organization?
I really like this thread. Visit my bookshelf: http:www.bookcrossing.com/mybookshelf/Lorrell
:D
uzumaki
07-18-2003, 07:22 PM
A: I personally put so much importance on organization because at a time I was disgustingly un-organized. Being un-organized stressed me out because I could never find anything, know what I'm supposed to be doing, etc., so I changed and made sure that from then on I'd be organized. And now my life isn't such a mess and everything's a lot easier :D

Answer:
I would set up a coffee shop which was decorated inside by local artists. I'd be sure to get a liquor license, too. It would also double as a used book store and place for local artists to sell their wares. I'd have different themes every night: a thinker's salon, an art night, a book club night, etc.

Question:
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

07-18-2003, 10:32 PM
If I could change one thing about myself, it would be my problem with being a procrastinator. I could have SO much done in my life right now if I didn't always 'wait until later'. One day there will be no later.

Question: What one thing do you do, think, or desire that you have told no one about?
Dalmaney
07-19-2003, 08:20 PM
Well, until my bungee experience, almost every time I walked over a bridge, I wondered how it would feel to jump off. Not that I was really depressed or suicidal... it just sort of crossed my mind that I could end my life whenever I wanted to. Doesn't help to live in the "city of bridges" either. I think jumping off of one may have cured that obsession.
What is the scariest experience you have ever had?
ninerfan_11
07-19-2003, 09:16 PM
A: I went white water rafting sort of against my will (it was a group activity), and, well, see, I can't quite swim... so I was really nervous.
Wouldn't you know by the fourth major rapid, I went back first into the water and trapped momentarily beneath the raft. One of the guides who was following along in a kayak, had to drag me to shore. I had swallowed quite a bit of water and was, to say the least, scared shitless.
Q: What is your philosophy on what the responsibilities of the man and the woman of the house are? Do you think they should have specific resposibilities?
ashleyshea
07-19-2003, 09:30 PM
Q: What is your philosophy on what the responsibilities of the man and the woman of the house are? Do you think they should have specific resposibilities?
A: Nope, nada, zilch.
I don't believe in "chores" that are inherantly men's or women's. I think, in any relationship, that people should do what they are good at and what they enjoy first. Then, there will always be those jobs that no one wants to do, like take out the trash. Those jobs should be equally shared so that no one is expected to do all the not-so-nice jobs.
Q: What is your current favorite book for a relaxing read? Not something too heavy, philosophical, or even very "literary." Something that you just pick up to enjoy in a silly way.
Shari
Dalmaney
07-19-2003, 10:15 PM
I'm torn. "One for the Money" by Janet Evanovich, and the rest of that series, is one of my favorite unliterary reads. It's freakin hilarious. That woman makes me laugh literally out loud. The general premise is this woman looses her job as an underwear buyer for a department store and ends up becoming a bounty hunter for her cousin Vinnie. They are seriously the funniest books I've ever read.
Close seconds for rereadability: all Harry Potter books, the hitch hiker's guide to the Galaxy, and anything by Raymond E Feist.
What song is stuck in your head right now, and where did you last hear it?

Hmm...let's see.

Is there anything in your life that you regret doing? if so...what is it?
satyavati.dd
07-20-2003, 12:11 PM
Answer: i regret the two years i spent in college the first time. i wish i could have had enough self-confidence to stand up for myself and go to work instead of going to school, and spent some time growing up and learning to deal with who i am instead of trying to make myself into someone else and failing miserably. i also regret a lot of things i did during that period, which, mercifully, many of which i don't specifically remember.
Question: would you consider yourself to be a materialistic person? why or why not?
nuKKe

Yeah, yeah yeah, I know that [I am] not what [I] own but I am a material girl. I love stuff. I need stuff. Stuff makes me happy. And messy.
my question:
have you ever changed the way you dress or your haircut in order to look more like on of the popular kids in class?
Dalmaney
07-20-2003, 01:18 PM
No, I haven't ever changed my appearance to be like the cool kids. Somehow I just don't have the desire to spend much time or money on clothes and hair and makeup. I did cut my long hair short the month before grad, which was pretty much the opposite. I have very specific taste in clothes and tend to hate alot of current fashion.
Plus I just never thought the cool kids were very cool.
What is the food/dish that you prepare the best?

07-20-2003, 01:24 PM
LOL I guess tuna fish salad. I know there isn't much to doing it well but how many times have you had crappy tuna salad. A lot of people screw it up. Mine is quite tasty. :)
What was the first movie you can remember seeing in a theatre?
Lorrell
07-20-2003, 02:27 PM
First movie I can remember seeing, my grandmother, mother were there and it was in black and white and Bob Hope was in it. It may have been "The Thief of Bagdad or something like that, but it was funny, in black and white and I was so dazzled from it all in my young innocence so I stayed very silent and tried not to misbehave. In fact I was so good in the theater that later on I got to see the premier of "Lawrence of Arabia" in a big theater in New York City. My ma took me and I was one of the few children there. I still love that movie. It was an epic 4hour deal like "Gone with the Wind" which I also got to see because I was such a good kid in the theater.
What is the most remote place in the world that you have visited?
Dalmaney
07-20-2003, 03:14 PM
Remote, as in farthest from home, would be Capetown, South Africa. As is most different from home, Cairo, Egypt. Remote as in smallest and farthest from "civilization", my parent's farm. I spent many an hour building stuff from deadwood and wandering around the bush. It was a good life in the middle of nowhere.
What is your favorite word?
chunkymonkey
07-20-2003, 04:48 PM
favorite word going by it's sound would be trouser. Yes as in the pants. Favorite word for its meaning would have to be loyalty because it is what I value the most.
what does sunday mean to you?
Lorrell
07-20-2003, 05:11 PM
Sunday means extreme peace and solitude for me, but it wasn't always that way. It's blissful and restive and I can take some time and play or do whatever I please, whenever I like.

Q: What is the most romantic place on earth?
Curlita
07-20-2003, 09:20 PM
Favorite childhood memory of a place my family visited: coming to visit my grandmother when I was a kid and going to her beach cabin and cooking crabs.
The most romantic place on earth: the Guest House Cottages on Whidbey Island. I've never been to Paris, though, so that may actually be the real most romantic place... ask me in two months.
Q: Do you believe that animals go to heaven/have an afterlife?
Lorrell
07-20-2003, 11:08 PM
A. After my dog died, he would visit me in my dreams. When he was sleeping, he used to move his legs like he was running and make little howling noises in his sleep and I would wonder where he was in his dreams. With another master? Another dog. One creature's heaven is another creature's hell, I would imagine. What's in hell? Poisonous snakes? Man-eating tigers? And this busines with the feathered wings in heaven has got to stop. Suppose the sight of feathers makes you sneeze. :)

Q. What are your goals for yourself over the next five years?
nuKKe
07-21-2003, 05:26 AM
Goals for the next 5 years:

2. Decide whether to continue my academic education or go to study art
3. If not actually moving, at least being in the proccess of immigration from IsraHell.
my q. - what's your favourite Ancient civilization and why?

a) to do well in my degree - work towards a first, but basically just to do as well as I can
B) to get a decent paid job which I enjoy
c) to gain more self-confidence
d) to develop my art
e) to travel - to experience different cultures and ways of life

Definitely being extremely hot. I hate the heat.
What is your favorite sound?

Extremely cold. I lived in New Orleans for four years - with NO air conditioning. I can handle being hot much better than most people.
Q - What is one fact you've learned in your lifetime that impacted you so much that you know you'll never forget it?

Answer:
I like my eggs scrambled with just a little milk, salt, pepper, and tad of garlic powder. But I can't just have scrambled eggs. I must have an egg sandwich made with toast. And I put either ketchup or mayonaise on it depending on my mood. If I have any, I'll put a little cheese in the sandwich, too.
Question:
Are you satisfied with your body . . . the way you look, the way you clothes fit, and the weight you currently are?
philosofialogos
07-21-2003, 11:47 AM
No, really, an egg sandwich is NOT the thing that has impacted me most in my lifetime!
I read the wrong page!
REAL ANSWER:
My husband taught me not to be so stressed out about everything and that I couldn't change anything by being stressed out. I suddenly realized that no one could hurt me (bill collectors, etc.) and that I was just making myself sick by worrying. Suddenly, my stomach doesn't hurt every day! I'm not so depressed!
(I never learned anything as cool the metal in our bones being from stars, but if anyone else has, give it a whirl!)
Question:
Are you satisfied with your body . . . the way you look, the way you clothes fit, and the weight you currently are?
Lorrell
07-21-2003, 11:51 AM
I'm very satisfied with my body and don't care if other's are or not. I was in between clothing sizes for awhile and that was annoying, but now my top matches my bottom. I never bother checking my weight and I would never wear anything other than a swimsuit if I could get away with it.
What do you like about Monday mornings?
philosofialogos
07-21-2003, 11:59 AM
Answer:
The first thing I like about Monday mornings is knowing that I'll get up and go to work and not be a "lazy ought" (my brother's phrase) all day.
The other thing I like about Monday mornings is knowing that I only have to wake up early 4 more days before Saturday rolls around again. :D
Question:
What are your sentiments about the television?
kittymao
07-21-2003, 01:36 PM
Oh cool.
Television is becoming the Shrine of a New World. People spend so much money on it, and faithfully follow it to the point of obsession. It's like a God, or so it seems. But on the other hand- It's so beautiful to see new and exciting worlds played out before your eyes in teh comfort of your home.
Hm.
What is your favorite season and why?
Dalmaney
07-21-2003, 01:40 PM
My favorite season is probably spring, at least as long as I'm in Uni. About late April/early May to be precise. Just after finals are finished, when the last dregs of snow are melting, the birds are returning, the bugs aren't out yet, and we're all set free from our winter dungeons to see the sun and play our silly summer games.
The first few weeks of outside weather (where it's a good 15 or 20 celcius) are sooo sweet.

if i could pick a superpower to have i think it would be to be 'faster than a speeding bullet'- because then i could get all my 'have to do's' done and my 'hope to get done's' done and be able to spend my day with my children...

question:
what was your favorite book when you were in grade school and why???
robyn
kittymao
07-21-2003, 02:19 PM
Am really bored today.
My favorite book in Grade School was probably " The Egypt Game" by Zilpha Keatley Snyder. I adored egypt ( still do) and the kids in the book were so empowered and had so much fun with their imaginations. They even got the Popular kids into it, and made so many friends....
hm. a new question.
Did you have an imaginary friend? Who and what was it, and when did he go away?
kasey
07-21-2003, 02:22 PM
Either The Chronicles of Narnia series or Where the wild things are. All about going into fantasy land which i think i still do on a regular basis!
What was the best concert you have ever been to?
kittymao
07-21-2003, 02:24 PM
Uh oh...
sillysarasue
07-21-2003, 02:34 PM
So do I answer both questions?
I am not a big concert goer. I think the best concert I have been to was coldplay, just because it was a concert I picked and not someone else.
I always wanted an imaginary friend. The closest I got to it were the things that showed up after I turned out the lights. I was always laughing at them cause I knew they couldn't eat me. That and the witches that showed up in the drape patterns in my bedroom, all they did was laugh at me.

Lorrell
07-21-2003, 03:23 PM
I'd have to say "The Blues Brothers" because for awhile it was on TV so often I finally broke down and bought the video.....The first time I saw it, at the theater I thought the usher was going to kick me out for laughing so hard! It's only probably that funny to me because of I had some similar things happen to me, like in the movie so. It's probably the only movie I ever went wild in the theater while watching it.
What would you do if you woke up one morning and found yourself in El Paso?
Fenchurch
07-21-2003, 04:25 PM
Go for a strong coffee.
What would you say if someone suddenly teleported your underwear about two meters to your right? And you being in public and all?
Lorrell
07-21-2003, 05:08 PM
Oh ha ha ha! This would be really funny because I refrain from wearing underwear as much as possible! Nobody seems to notice, so far. I hate underwear, except for really expensive bras that are sporty and cool. Fredericks and Hanes send me catalogs all the time. I don't like thongs, or any of stuff....but love silk slips and petticoats and Swimsuits...all de time. In the winter I get out my longjohns but that's all....!
Have you ever come across a real snake roaming in the grass, if so, what kind was it and were you scarred?
Dalmaney
07-21-2003, 06:16 PM
I've come across garder (sp?) snakes lots of times. They're not poisonous, so I tend to just ignore them and hope they'll go away. They eat rodents and things that are ickier than snakes. They startle me, more then they scare me. Once we found a little baby snake and got to play with it for a while... but then we released it too close to the house and a cat ate it.
What is your favorite childhood computer game?

well my biggest fear is spiders but that really isn't that silly. Clowns scare me which is kinda silly.
What is your favorite sound?
Dalmaney
07-21-2003, 08:41 PM
(As an aside, I was playing Oregon Trail as I asked the computer game question.)
My favorite sound is either a light breeze through a large, leafy forest, a loon calling, or a coyote howl. All of them have to do with me being NOT in a stupid big city.

Well...i've got a good one lol...about 4 years ago...it was my first summer working at this amusement park i've been workin at every summer since...anyways...one night after close...we decided to play around on one of the rides that my crew operated(it's in the shape of a barrel...and it spins around...the people stand next to the wall...and then the floor is dropped, and people hang on the wall) anyways....a group of us decided to stand in the middle of it to see how long we could stay in the middle...well...we flew to the wall pretty quick after it was started....so then i got talked into sitting down in the middle of it....wasn't too smart. The barrel got up to full speed...and i was still in the middle...and they started lowering the floor, and alas...i flew face first into the wall...busted my eye open...broke my glasses...and gave me one hell of a headache.....so in order to keep from getting fired...i lied and told them that i tripped on a curb and fell lol...i needed my job! :)
how much a month do you spend on art supplies/postage supplies/etc just for nervousness? lol :D
Lorrell
07-21-2003, 11:39 PM
A. This question I find intriguing, because at a particular time in my life, I sold sculpture stones to artists around the world. To this day I am still revered for my ability to pair up various artists with the varities of stone; alabasters, marbles, etc. in the colors, shapes, and textures they wanted to carve. I did this all over the telephone from looking at photos of their prior works of art, technique, and style and matching it up with what was imported from various quarries, colors of rock available from out west...etc. it was much fun and I spoiled many artists. I employed a psychic intuition in order to match the artist to the rock I had available and the style and medium they enjoyed working in. I learned an important fact of art during all this, that it's is not about the amount of money you spend on your art, but what art can you create with just what is around you. And forget about the money....How much time can you devote to persuing you creative endeavors...That is the trick, right there.....anyone can have money....but time is worth more than any materials..think about that next time you look at a stone sculpture....in this age of instant technology, most people don't have the time it takes to indulge themselves in Art. The best they can hope for is something, cool, hard and unromantic as Monday morning. Get up, get it, and get gone. I already have a full, rich bounty of art materials. It's making the connection with what you already have, what you want to do, and who wants you to do what. That's priceless, and that is what art's all about.
What gives you the most inspiration and gets your creativity active?
kittymao
07-22-2003, 12:42 AM
hm. To be honest- other Art.
Looking at the creative works of other people inspire me to try and re-create the process in my own way. It can be film or pictures, sculpture or text- I take what I wish of it and create a whole new artwork- with my own style. Unlike a lot of people (fine artists, it seems) who seem to snag inspiration as it runs by them, my inspiration needs a starting block (something my mind can mull over) to get going. I have been told I "think too hard", so once I do get going, by the time I'm done i will have worked longer and harder than I usually anticipate.
at what time are you most creative?
chunkymonkey
07-22-2003, 07:54 AM
Oh I am so manic with my creativity. I would say if I am getting up in the morning it would be around 3-5 pm and if I am sleeping during the day probably around 1-2 am. It takes me awhile to wake up so I'd say 5 hours after I wake up atleast.
Do you have any cds that you keep seperate from your collection or that you don't have on your cd list because of the singer/band? For instance I will admit that I have a michael bolton cd but I don't keep it out with my other cds. B)

I don't know why I seperate them out, never really thought about it before.

My year ends in September, I think. While I use the Gregorian calander my year begins and ends according to the Jewish calander. So here's those 3 things that shall be finished by Rosh HaShana:
1. write my seminar
2. find a better flat to rent
3. take a vacation

Q: what artist or work of art has influenced your style the most
kittymao
07-22-2003, 10:00 PM
a few artists have. Some folks may not know them because they are more into the Illustrator realm- Brom (http://www.bromart.com/) and Tetsuya Nomura (http://yannick.fleurit.free.fr/Artworks/Tetsuya%20Nomura.htm). They are more in the way of character designs, but that's my goal. In real-fine-art, I adore the artists of Dada, surrealism and Merz.
oh, and a question.
What's the stupidest thing you've ever done to get attention from the opposite sex? and more importantly, did it work?
cdonley
07-22-2003, 10:58 PM
OK - I did this a LONG time ago. We were ice skating and I saw the guy I liked there and thought "I'll impress him!" Anyway, I tried to do this little turn and skate backwards, but instead my fat feet tripped me up, I knocked into my friend and I fell - breaking my wrist. Needless to say...he and I never dated. <_<
Question: Since my family is thinking of going camping again I wondered - What's the longest time you have gone without taking a shower/bath? (and no, wringing out a sponge over your head doesn't count!) :D
VeronicasLovebug
07-23-2003, 12:16 AM
The longest i've ever gone was i think 4 days when i went camping w/ my family...now i don't like goin more than a day lol...so i tend to pass up those camping trips...unless they're no more than 2 days...or else there's a tub i can get cleaned up in close by lol :)
What's the longest you've ever been able to stay awake without falling asleep...and why did you stay up that long?

my q:
Lake, Ocean or River?
mysundown15

Ocean, definately. The water tends to be the cleanest out of the three around here. And its the prettiest :)
Coffee or Tea?
FearfulPenguin
07-23-2003, 03:57 AM
Tea, definitely. Coffee is much too bitter. Although I don't drink English Breakfast tea anymore, since I gave up caffine, I now drink teas such as peppermint tea, and fruit teas.
My question:
Do you have a special talent (other than art!)?
nuKKe
07-23-2003, 07:14 AM
2 talents, actually: I'm a pretty good non-fiction writer and I can twist my tongue, screw-like, to both sides.
Did you ever own Barbie dolls? If so, what is the tackiest, kitschiest, most bizarre Barbie you had?
BreezyK
07-23-2003, 10:09 AM
I owned many Barbie dolls as a child, but of no choice of my own. I hated them! They were disturbing to me. I remember crying at a birthday party after opening one. (I was a My Little Ponies girl!). Don't know about tackiest or kitchest-- I can't remember most of them too well, but a bunch of them were hand-me-downs from my half-sister who's 20 years older than me, and they had real eyelashes! They actually stuck hair into the eyes just like they did the scalp. They also had tan lines-- I think they stopped doing that on newer Barbies. Maybe not...
What was your most memorable or bizarre dream?
ninerfan_11
07-23-2003, 11:07 AM
Ok, I'm just gonna cut and paste my Livejournal entry from two days ago....
"Okay, I usually don't remember my dreams. I mean, I NEVER do. But last night was an exception. It was a weird one.
I was shopping at Sparkle (our local grocery store) and I noticed something weird going on inside. So when I was in the checkout line, I was trying to call 9-1-1, using my friend's cell phone. But I couldn't figure out how to get the cell phone to work.
So just as we finished checking out, all the lights in the store shut off, one by one, and I took of towards the door, as some man yelled "Don't anyone try to leave or I'll shoot you." I dove on the cement ground and tried hiding behind a car as soon as I got out the door. Unfortunately, he saw me, and made me get back in the store. He then secured the entrance so no one could come in and no one could leave.
I guess it's a good thing I woke up right around that point in the dream. Othewise, I coulda been TOAST.
It had to be because of the Chinese I ate last night... because I never have weird dreams like that."
MY QUESTION: "Do you watch soap operas? Or are they stupid?"
VeronicasLovebug
07-23-2003, 12:16 PM
I'm actually watching soaps right now lol...it's sad...but when i know i'm going to be working...i'll record them and watch them in the evening. My best friends ex-girlfriend got me hooked on em!
if you could go anywhere in the world, and live there for a year...where would you choose and why?
Lorrell
07-23-2003, 12:32 PM
Answer: Spain, mainly because when I went to Europe I spent too much time in France, Italy, Germany, and England, and missed Spain entirely. It would be a wonderful way to improve my Spanish which is South Florida's second language now.
If you had to costume dress as a historical character of the 1700's, who would you choose to be?

Rob Reiner - because he managed to make great movies in so many generes
Aki Kaorisma"ki - because silence is golden

What is your most prized posession ?
nuKKe
07-24-2003, 03:37 AM
the (postage) stamps collections I inherited from my parents.
Dad's collection has all the first stamps that the State of Israel issued and a few from British Mandatory Palestine.
Mom's collection is BIZARRE!!!! On the first page of the main album there are about 10 Hitler stamps. She also has Anschloss Austria stamps, many 50's=60's stamps from Asia (like crazy Mongolian ones celebrating the Sputnik), stamps from Syria, Iraq and Egypt from the 40's-50's which I don't know how she got and many from communist-ear East Europe.
No, I have no intention to trade anything.
What would you do if you received a glitter-sticker Sanrio deco?
Lorrell
07-24-2003, 11:13 AM
Answer: I have a bunch of unusual ballcap type hats from my days when I was working on a southern Florida ranch, One is a John Deere (green) with logo and says "Everglades Farm Equipment. Belle Glade, FL and has a little tractor patch on the side and jumping deer logo in front, A black one that has Indian River on it with an Indian chief head embroidered on the front. Another one from Sunshine Sod, and a couple from Jegs High Performance, One is a painter's canvas hat, which I dipped leaves in fabric paint and transfered the design on to it. Another one says "Been There, Done That". One from "Crows Hybrids" which is Red with a Black Crow...from some seed company. Many of them I don't wear much anymore with the exception of the John Deere which I like to wear when I'm mowing the grass. My all time favorite was one that was a leopard print but an annoying dog got a hold of it from the front seat of the truck and chewed it up beyond salvation!
Question: How do you deal with people who are annoying you? Directly or Indirectly?
kittymao
07-24-2003, 11:19 AM
to the deco-
I'd be happy. I don't know what a deco is, and maybe this would teach me.
to the annoying folk-
hee. I deal with them directly. although in an indirect manner. I pretend I'm joking, but never say I am... and I use a lot of sarcasm in these instances, and ask many seemingly-rude quiestions.
who do you dislike the most, and why? I'd prefer people you KNEW instead of famous people.

This question never got answered:
After my friend, Jennifer was killed in a house fire when we were in elementary school, I didn't have any friends. Because of this, I created Samantha. She played with me during play time. She was my companion on the teeter-totters. In a small school in the Southern part of the USA, you cannot be smart, overweight, and be friendly with black people. If so, you have to create a "Samantha".
Did she ever go away? I thought she did after I lost weight when I was 12. But I think she still exists . . . she's suddenly reappeared in the book I'm trying to write. :)
Who Do I Dislike the Most?
The person I'm finding most difficult to like in my life right now is my husband's ex-business partner who has "gone over to the dark side". He cheated on his wife, started stealing expensive things, ran off to Las Vegas with about $20,000 of the company's money instead of purchasing the computers the money was earmarked for, and overdrew a company account he had no permission to open.
Question:
If you have had a point of enlightenment in your life, what caused it and what were the results?
luckythirteenxxx
07-24-2003, 12:18 PM
Answer:
My enlightenment came in the form of my mother travelling 200 miles one summer to "shake" me out of my shortsighted, self-destructive relationship and living patterns--on a mother's intuition hunch no less!!!
The visit (uh, intervention??)totally shook me, to the point that for 6 weeks I ate, slept, spent time off completely alone. I answered no phone calls, even when they got angry. I cried and cried, I wrote in my journal, I completed my first oil painting. I just let all this pain that was causing me to 'misbehave' run through me. I let myself have a productive internal dialogue. I looked at the dark nasty parts of myself. It sucked beyond all sucking. I have never felt so dark, alone and hurting, even in my old bouts with depression. "It was the worst of times" and the best time ever all at once.
What came of it? I stopped myself from damaging another person by letting go of them, I created a painting *so* symbolic of the time that I couldn't look at it (my mother has it), I created a record of my internal dialogue that I read through when I feel off track, I stopped being so depressed all the time because of my self and my actions, and most important, I looked myself dead in the eye and told myself how it was going to be.
Shortly after, I met The One, bought and insured my first car, forgave my father for all the crap he did to the family when I/my sister was young, made friends with the person I had been hurting, found out who my real friends were, and actually learned how to love myself. My life has *never* been this good, and I am humbled by it. It's not perfect, but it rocks and I'm lucky.
((Thank you mom.))
Question:
Have you forgiven (or could you forgive) your parent for their adverse treatment of you? What's it like either way?
Lorrell
07-24-2003, 06:02 PM
Answer: Oh sure, the forgiveness comes easier and easier with every step you take in creating your own independent life. As you realize that you do not have to share their values, religion, opinions, etc. and are no longer the "whipping post" for their negative traits, you may even begin to look at them objectively enough to realize why they are the way they are, or behaved towards you the way they did. I have to say that "Forgetting" is another problem entirely and one never knows whats going to trigger a bad memory of something that happened between you and them, and you wish you could forget it and just enjoy the moment, holiday, reunion, but all of a sudden, WHAM! there it is! Since one of my parents is roaming the world at large, god knows where, I often wonder if I am ever a thought that crosses their mind.
Question: What new item have you found at the grocery store or market, that you never ate or bought before and now find you can't do without?
venus28976
07-24-2003, 07:11 PM
I want to answer both of these questions...hope that's okay: On forgiveness
Dec 5, 2002 I made the stunning realization that I was no longer angry at my father and had forgiven him. This was huge because I had been aware for years of the fact that my hatred towards him was seriously harming me and that I needed to stop being suspended by my anger and set him and myself free. However that was easier said than done. Being a spiritual person i prayed about it but couldn't let go. I felt like he didn't deserve it. I took a Psychology of Forgiveness class in college that brought the topic back into my consciousness and provided me some insight. I even wrote a paper called the Necessity of Forgiveness in Dsyfunctional Families. However i still couldn't let go of my own anger. I took an intro to Addiction class and wrote a paper on Gambling which opened my eyes a bit more to the fact that my father had a disease. He had and still has a serious gambling problem. Learning about gambling and seeing it as an addiction helped a lot but I was still unable to completely forgive. On Dec 5, several things happened. First, I wound up in a discussion with a friend about the Psychology of Forgiveness class I had taken the year before and about my own struggle to forgive. Second, that night on 20/20 the topic was forgiveness and stories of people forgiving others. Ussually after seeing something like that I say to myslef, If only it were that easy. On this night I took my internal temperature...that is, I said a name and judged my own physical reactions to that name. Usually when I'd say my dad's name I'd clench my fists and my chest would get tight. This time I felt completely calm. For the first time in my life the anger was gone. I had finally let it go. I wrote my dad a note saying I had forgiven him. He was angry about the note and said that he didn't need my forgiveness but I realized that this wasn't about him anymore, it was about me. Besides that, even though he didn't acknowledge it, I think that letter meant a lot to him. Since then, my father and I have a real, adult relationship. He is the only one in my family who interact with me adult to adult. It was truly a life changing event. It was also liberating for me. In the weeks after I forgave him, I felt freer and more alive than I had ever been. Colors were brighter, sounds more sweet. Everything felt fuller and alive. With forgiving came understanding. My anger is gone.
Q: store item
A: The first thing that comes to mind is stamps. For years I had no interest in rubber stamping or rubber stamps and had no desire to ow any or to try this form of art. Now I own over 50 in just 3 short months and have begun to carve my own.
Q: What is something that you would love to learn to do and why haven't you learned it yet?
kittymao
07-24-2003, 07:39 PM
I'd love to learn languages. They are like a key to a whole new world- either spanish ( my bf of 6yrs is Mexican) or Irish ( my full name just screams it). The only reason I haven't learned is that it requires so much time-
intense memorization, understanding and verbal usage. And Time is something that is quite a commodity in my stomping grounds.
Fortunately, after 6 years, I can grasp quite a bit- I can watch spanish Novelas and can understand a fair amount of what people say- especially when adults talk to children.
aaaaaaaaaaand. a question.
do you know an amusing phrase in another language? and if so, what is it and what does it mean...
VeronicasLovebug

¿Quién es su papá? which means..."Who's your daddy?" in spanish...i found it amusing lol
now for a question...
If you only had 1 day to live...what would you do w/ your last 24 hours?
venus28976
07-24-2003, 11:18 PM
I'd get up early and watch the sun rise. Then I'd take my mom to breakfast and just talk and tell her all the things I've wanted to say but couldn't find the words to say like how much I love her and that I know she did her best with my sister and I and I am thankful. Then I'd gather all my relatives for a barbecue...many of whom have not spoken to each other in years and tell them all how much I love them and reminisce about old sweet memories of times I spent with each of them. I'd love the barbecue early and hopefully leave them talking to each other and head over to my best friend's house. We'd hang out, and stay up late just talking about life and dreams and guys and all that fun stuff. About an hour before my 24 hours were up I'd leave my friends and go down to the cemetary where my grandma is buried. I'd talk to my grandma and there I'd die and she'd be the first person to greet me when if? I got to heaven.
What a great question by the way.

When I got into the punk scene I had long hair, wore jeans and XL t-shirts and did not look like your average Israeli punk-rocker, let alone punk-rock girl, circa 93, so I felt awkward to call myself a punk, even though I had greater knowledge in the music, politics and ethics than the vast majority of the local punks . My friend and comrade, F., the one who 'initiated' me, said to me once 'if you don't define yourself you let others to define you and that's worse'. At that very moment I started calling myself a punk.
As for a previous q that hasn't been answered, I shoplifted for the first time when I was 7. I stole FIMO polymer clay.

07-26-2003, 06:16 PM
Answer: My eyesight, because I have always been able to see everything far away, but have to wear glasses to see anything up close. Unfortunately with the way my eyes are, contacts don't seem to work either. I will be stuck with glasses forever. I would love it if I could wear contact lenses that change your eye colors, the size and shape of your pupils, etc....all that bizarre stuff, but it's not to be. Sometimes when I'm not driving and just relaxing riding around in the car, bus, whatever, I'll be sitting around with my glasses off and amaze people with my ability to read a billboard or road sign that is miles down the road. I once met a surveyor who told me I have "Transit Vision" The further away something is from me, the better it looks. If I'm painting I usually paint with my glasses on and then when I want to see how it really looks, I'll go stand a great distance from it with my glasses off.

Which of these two events do you enjoy the most...Sunset or Sunrise?
Wow, that's actually a pretty hard one...I like both so much. One of my favorite memories is prom night in 1991, six of us went together (3 couples) and we all got to plan out one thing we wanted to do, mine was watching the sunrise. And, I could go on with the whole, it's the birth of a new day, blah, blah, but I have to go with Sunset, because I've enjoyed watching so many of those, and love to spend an evening that starts with watching a beautiful sunset. BTW - Arizona has fantastic Sunsets and Sunrises. I didn't realize how amazing they were until I visited the Caribbean and Hawaii, and expected this fantastic sunsets --- and they didn't compare with the ones back home.
Okay, my question, What was the toughest life lesson for you to learn?

oh yeah. He was British and lazy and I had no citizenship, severe depression and I did nothing except reading books and taking drugs for the entire year we were together. It was difficult. Until the day I got drunk and got off with my best friend, some 8 months after we split up, I wanted to get back to him. My (then) best friend and I were together for almost 2 years but then he left for Amsterdam to squat and be a rebel and I stayed here. He's now back in the country and I am married to my real, true, devoted best friend and lover. Things turned out good for me....
q: do you keep a journal? is it a verbal or visual one? since when have you kept one?
ninerfan_11
07-27-2003, 01:00 AM
I have always tried the written journal, and, in fact, am planning on trying it again here eventually, but it has never worked for me. However, since I started one at Livejournal.com (which is linked below), I have been amazingly dedicated. I don't think it's quite the same though, because I know people that I know read it. It would be different if it were private.

A: "King," he was a big German Shepard... he got hit by a car one day when he got loose and ran out on the freeway in front of my grandma's house.
Q: Your favorite fast food restaurant and what your favorite thing to order there ?
Sirius

greetings ninerfan -- my first pet was a dog named King as well...guess our parents thought a like...
My favorite Fast Food place is probably Fazoli's. It's hard for me to say that though because I don't think 15 minutes for them to make a Bake Chicken Parmeasan qualifies as Fast Food, but that's how they advertise themselves. I don't eat fish or red meat, so my fast food options are pretty limited....
What is the fartherst you've travelled from home, and what was your experience?

Answer: Hot Dogs......gross!
What color do you like the best?

I think that when done tastefully tattoos can be art. But not when their whole bodies are covered in these ghastly tattoos. And about piercings I like sensible ones not industrial piercings or anything like that.
My question: Where would you be if you could be anywhere right now?

A: The farthest ever travelled from home is to Atlanta, sad but true. I've been to Toronto, but toronto is actually closer than atlanta.
A; my favorite color is green. Green is just so freakin' cool
Q: Coffee or tea? Or yuck to both? (I say yuck to coffee, tea is good)

Q: If you could travel back in time...what year would you choose...where would you choose to land...and why?

A: I'd travel back to Sept. 25, 1981, and watch my mother give birth to me. I just think it'd be cool to see "ME" being born.
Q: Who was the last person you spoke to on the telephone? What was it about?
A friend of mine from work this morning - she asked me if i could call in sick for her and i did, the kind person (and the person most likely never to say no) that i am.

Cough or cold, definitely. Sore throats are the suck. I had my tonsils and adenoids taken out 2 years ago and haven't had a sore throat since except for twice, before that I had them all the time and was on 3 antibiotics. Ick.
My question: What is your favorite song right now ?
Lorrell

Answer: Whiskey For My Men, and Beer For My Horses by Toby Keith, mostly because of the Cowgirl character I'm playing and this gets me in the right frame for that. My musical likes and dislikes are different each day, depending on the color of my mood. Sometimes it's blues or rap, other times it's classical. I love Celia Cruz's salsa and cuban music, but then sometimes I listen to Zolani or classical instrumentals or even Spike Jones. If I try to think of having a musical "favorite", I'd really feel limited.
When was the last time you danced?

About a week ago - too long ago! I love dancing, I go to street dance classes every week during term time, which I love, and I enjoy going out and dancing the night away! I don't do it often enough lately!
What is your favourite memory, the one which can make you smile everytime?
Dalmaney

One of my favorite happy memories is my last birthday. It fell on the same day as the one major Christmas party I was going to, so I went to that (and it was really fun), and then afterwards, a bunch of us went back to my apartment and watched a movie or two and were up until 4 talking about nothing. It's one of my favorite memories because people chose to come to MY place, instead of taking off to someone elses. Even people that I wouldn't have thought were that good of friends.
So basically, I cling to the illusion of being popular for one fleeting moment.;) It was a fun night.
If you could travel for a whole year, where would you go?

It would be a dream-come-true if I could travel for a whole year. I would drive throughout the US and camp in National Parks and State Parks. I would also visit all my friends scattered across the country. Probably once a month I would do a long weekend in a city so I could stay in a hotel and have a nice hot bath!
My question is, if someone let you name twin baby girls, what would you name them? What about twin boys? And what about twins who were one boy and one girl? (Sorry; I know it's three questions.)
vintagecherry

okay, this is fun.
my answer? i'd name the twin boys dave/dean/daniel and hayden, and the girls ophviel and ophdiel. if the twins are a boy and a girl, most probably oliver and ophelia. ironically, don't ask. i'm very partial to these names! and oh, don't even let me go to their chinese ones!
my question? what is the most interesting cat name you can think of? (mine's podiumette! again, don't ask!) go on and let your creative juices flow before answering!
Sirius

Most interesting cat name? Dioji (Prounounced by spelling out the letters D-O-G)
Oh, now I have to come up with a question?
What's 2+2? Nah, I can think of something else....
Okay, when you were studying history (we all did at one point, right) what historical figure did you like best (i.e. want to meet, impressed you with his/her talents/discoveries/actions)?
ninerfan_11

A: I was never a history buff, and actually kinda hated it, but I'd have to go with Christopher Columbus. His journey had to be quite an experience.
Q: If you could sit down to dinner with one person for just an hour and no longer, who would it be and why? (Person can be dead or still alive)?

Oo.
Mark Twain.
I was particularly obsessed with the man in 7th grade, writing a 30 pg report on him. He's such a clever, witty, humorous fellow... just to hear him talk about his life on the river and in early California would intrigue me to no end.
What is your major pet peeve? You know, the one that makes you want to break things.

A. My pet peeve is rude people.
Q. What is your fondest childhood memory?
ninerfan_11
07-29-2003, 12:34 PM
A: My toys: lincoln logs, legos, my wagon, tonka trucks, micro machines, pound puppies. These kids today don't know what real toys are!!!
Q: What is your stance on abortion?
FearfulPenguin
07-29-2003, 12:57 PM
I believe abortion should be available in certain circumstances such as the woman being raped, or unable to give the unborn child a decent life, or possibly if the child is severely disabled. I do not think abortion should be used as a form of contraception. However, I also do not believe it should be made illegal. I believe in a woman's right to choose.
My question:
Do you believe in one true love out there for everyone?
closetmathnerd
07-29-2003, 01:14 PM
I dont believe there is just one, I think there are many people in the world for us to love, we just have to find them :)
Q: Do you think that sending US Troops to Iraq was a form of Terrorism?
ninerfan_11
07-29-2003, 01:46 PM
A: No, I don't. No one was terrorized intentionally in Iraq. The U.S. knew there was one individual that needed to be overthrown in Iraq, and that's what they are trying to do. What the U.S. is doing will make good in the future. Terrorism in my eyes, brings no good... such as the flying of two jet planes into our twin towers, killing hundreds of working men and women.
Q: Describe your home.
